  1. Charles has address this as far as Baylor, Texas Tech, Oak St. Those teams always have a class that is 80% 3-star kids with a handful of 4 star Blue Chips sprinkled in. NIL isn't going to change that much I reckon because they are not Blue Blood schools. Now Texas is a Blue Blood and they have nailed it so far and are siting 3#, and I'd guess they have plenty of NIL money. Oklahoma is a Blue Blood and they will jump up by the end Both will have 15ish Blue Chips.
  2. That team had some great players, but Chips Scheme took us to the Natty. Chip was miles ahead of the crowd for that brief minute with his Scheme. Nick Saban was crying the Tempo Spread had to go because it was going to wear defensive guys out and get them hurt. Remember when coaches first started having defensive players play hurt to slow us down? haha Then Nick decided to quit crying and join in, and he hired Laned Kiffin
  3. Not to be rude but you guys are miles off on Stenson Bennet. AB was nowhere close to him, and Stenson Bennet is not a "game manager" Here are the Heisman finalist QB's for last year RTG along with Stenson and AB. Stenson has the 2nd highest RTG and 2nd highest yards per completion, "game managers" don't do that. I'd say Stenson Bennet gave Heisman level play for every pass he threw; he just didn't throw at the same volume. There is no way in hell AB takes UG to the Natty last year. Bryce Young RTG 167.5 with 8.9 yards per completion CJ Stroud RTG 186.6 with 10.1 yards per completion Kenny Picket RTG 165.3 with 8.7 yards per completion Stenson Bennet RTG 176.7 with 10.0 yards per completion AB RTG 140.1 with 7.7 yards per pass EDIT.. Just for comparison Bo Nix last year had his best RTG at 130 and yards per completion at 7.1 both WORSE than AB. If I recall right Marcus, and Vernon Adams were both around 179 -181 RTG their last year and Herbs last year wasn't close to them. VA goes to NY if he doesn't get hurt in 2015, he was a Baller and we probably make the playoffs 2nd Edit.. just to back up that VA to NY claim, compare Deshuan Watson who was a Heisman finalist to VA VA 179.1 RTG on 259 attempts with 10.2 yards per completion. 26 TD and 6 picks Watson 156.3 RTG on 491 attempts with 8.4 yards per completion. 35 TD and 13 picks. VA was Amazing that year and the other QB's threw over 100 pass attempts while VA was hurt in a dialed back offense. You have to think VA get another 150 pass attempts if he never got hurt. I'd guess VA throws for over another 1000 yards and over 10 more TD's in the regular season. VA gave us Heisman level play
  4. Oregon will next be in the national championship game when the have Heisman contending level QB play regardless of 58% or a 66% blue-chip ratio. We won't be in the Natty with a 75% blue chip ratio and AB type of QB play
  5. It's still over 6 months to signing day give it time. It's not about how you start it's how you close. Recruiting is 2 to 3 years building relationships with kids and our staff have been ducks for 6 months or so. Lanning is recruiting kids to Oregon he just started working on unless he was after them when he was at UG. I'm sure Lanning will pull some defensive kids in who didn't have Oregon on their radar. He might get one or two of them top 100 DL guys who would rather come play for Lanning and be the top recruit compared to being the freshmen on a roster full of DL dudes ranked high. I think Lanning will have a good defense this year and that will help close the deal with some kids by signing day. Then the 2024 kids he will have two full years working on and that class will probably fill up a little quicker and the odds of him getting some of those rare elite DL beasts will be higher
  6. 5-stars are nice... but the value in classes to me is how many top 100 kids you get. Last year Texas aTm got 18 top 100 on the 247 composite. That kind of class gives you so many high level players at so many positions that you have a huge advantage. By contrast Mario got 5 top 100 kids in 2019 and 2021
  7. It's news to me that Wayne is packing up and going to IMG and I didn't know it was $90K a year! Seriously? College football recruiting has always been dirty with Bags being dropped; we know that for a fact. It doesn't upset me if Miami is pushing or breaking the rules, you don't think Bama, Clemson, The OSU haven't been breaking the rules for a long time? There is a saying in racing "it's only cheating if you get caught" Edit,, I just read that story and good luck nailing Ruiz, he's a lawyer and just said all the right things. Also the rumor was the Gumbo Fisher at Texas aTm gave his NIL Collective boosters a top prospects list for the 2022 class and they closed the deal with the recruits based on NIL deals. SHADY on two fronts.. schools are not supposed to work with NIL collectives and collectives are not supposed to offer pay to play to recruits before they sign. This Bidding War stuff isn't by the book but we have on enforcement
  8. Yes, it will just by the fact Dilly will make the defense defend the field more vertical and that will spread the defense more. Mario's offense would allow the defense to only defend about 15 yards vertical, but Dilly's offense will see the safety setting up 15 yards deep pre-snap and dropping at the snap.
  9. IMO this ranking is seriously flawed. Bennet Willims based on his play before he got hurt is #3 for me. He was named the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week for his play in the Arizona game that he had two picks and nice collection of tackles. Bennet was looking even better than Brady Breeze in making quick reads and coming up hard to make stops in support of the run game. He also had interceptions in multiple games, He was playing on a 1st Team All-Pac level, he was OUTSTANDING. The only other player to win the Defensive Player of the Week last year was Vernon Mckinnley and he ended up 1st team All American. I know Lanning had Bridges and Addison running 1st team safeties this spring, but I will be shocked if Bennet isn't starting come game one. They were running Pickett as the #1 at the start of 2019 and he got banged up and Brady Breeze came in. We saw the difference he made as a way more aggressive/hard hitting guy in run support, it was night and day from Picket. Call me biased but I love a Breeze/Bennet type safety! Where is POPO!??!! He was All Pac, how is this guy leaving All Pac Dudes off this list? Jamall Hill is getting beat on a crossing route as I type, he is to high. Thorton is a top 60 rated talent, he is too low.
  10. Nah can't call them big guys :Boys". Going to have to be "The Texas Posse" because they are coming after QB's & RB's
  11. No UG has been loading up last few years. The huge Nose they had was a 3-star. 2022 class they got a 5-star DL and Edge dude last year and like two other top 100 DL dudes. The lowest of the DL group Kristen Miller didn't sign until the late period and visited Eugene, I was hoping Lanning could get flip him along with Jordan James. Here is the DL player rankings off 247, there are a dozen in the Top 100 2023 Top Defensive Line Recruits 247SPORTS.COM The 247Sports rankings are determined by our recruiting analysts after countless hours of personal observations, film evaluation and input from our network of scouts.
  12. This early look at the average recruit grade. Ducks got a 90.85 to the UW 87.35 The Ducks have a higher quality grade of commits while UW has lower quality recruits in the higher quantity.
  13. Except for Hicks all those guys are the same 200 to 250 rated players like Mario and Joe were getting as a ceiling. We really need some Elite DL guys
  14. The Dline will be fine. FYI- DJ was a 4-star top 100 player around 80th, Hudson-Ware around a Top 247 Mater Dei kid about as high as any of our DL recruits , and Tamani was a 4-star also. I think Dorlus is projected 4th round pick right now. Mario and Coach Joe were never really able to land anything but a 200-250 rated DL guy. It would be nice to get a couple top 100 DL guys
  15. Kirkland at UW is a two-time 1st team All Pac Dude, he is the best OL in the conference arguably
  16. Not it's not compared the Peterson, but Pete had long time west coast connections. DeBoer don't have that, so he needs to show he can turn a 180 with this team from last year. That will boost him into a 2024 class that still might not be as good as Pete did
  17. It means other top recruits will join the Ducks Flock, we will all be slapping each other on the back saying how great Lanning can recruit! We will also be saying how lame Mario was on offense and we won't be losing any of these recruits to the Portal after they feel they got sold a bait and switch.
  18. That was the longest read ever, the guy went through most of the dang roster. I agree the USC OL is suspect and was overrated last year and they don't have depth. The DL just plain sucks and they haven't really addressed that. Height and Corey Foreman work really good as the pair of Rush LB's. Shane Lee the Bama transfer at the Mike will be solid upgrade. The Will LB I'd look for Raesjon Davis the Top 50 2021 kid to take over, I wanted the Ducks to land him. The Senior Gosforth has sucked and Eric Gentry the Arizona transfer is a 3 star kid. Biggins of 247 projected Davis as future 1st round pick and whoever wrote that article is sleeping on him. The Colorado DB transfer Blackmon will take one Corner spot and 5-star Domoni Jackson the other and they are the 2 best DB's on the team. The safeties have 4-star kids like Wright who sucked and were running 4th on the depth chart this spring. Conclusion: The Skill guys are A plus The OL is a C The DL is a D minus The LB's is a B The DB's is a C USC games are going to look like Big12 55-51 shootout games
  19. I think the odds are good we could see some small GoGo tweaks added to Coach Dillingham's Two-Back sets and I think the most likely is we see the offset backs at times. Chip Kelly on the other hand seems like the type of coach who will introduce some of this into his offense. I would not surprise me to see a few snaps a game that Chip has an unbalanced formation with "funky" line splits, it just seems so Chip. Chip has never been afraid to run new things, especially if it's new elements for the defense to read and defend. It wouldn't surprise me if Chip has a few GoGo plays in his back pocket that he throws out there when his gut tells him it's a good time. Here is a picture of Arizona Cardinals in the GoGo Offset Two-Backs pre-snap
  20. Nice topic and post. Super conferences or a Open division of 40 teams is coming I think
  21. That's why Manion created this offense, he can do so much out of it. Here is a pic of aa unbalanced set with huge splits on the weak side of the formation that is also to the boundry side. Notice the trips to the field side, they are spreading this defense out and throwing some funky stuff at them.
  22. Brennan Manion developed it and ran full time it at Howard and William and Mary. He moved up to the Hawaii program under Todd Graham in 2020 and is now at Texas as the WR coach and passing game coordinator since 2021. No one is running it full time right now. Lincoln Riley ran some GoGo plays at Oklahoma, Kingsbury has run some plays in the NFL and the Patriots have too. I think where we are at is that some teams will run some sets and plays like we have seen with Riley, Kingsbury. They have ran the offset Two-Backs. I think Mr. FishDuck said something like it would be a system to run full time for a not very talented team to help them compete with scheme. He also made the point if you don't use it full time it's hard to get the full effect of all the twists you can run off it. So, the teams that are running it are counting on a surprise effect in the limited number of snaps they run it each game. We will know early in the year if Coach Dillingham has added and tenants of the GoGo to his Two-Back.
  23. Back in November of 2020 Jermey Mosier wrote a FishDuck Article on the GoGo offense and it was a great piece. December 30th of 2021 Coach Eric Boles did a great piece on Coach Dillingham's Two-Back sets. I'll include link to both FishDuck articles at the end of this post, these articles really fired me up. With that introduction I thought it is a good time for us on the ODB forum to discuss Two-Back sets and the GoGo offense tenants ahead of the 2022 season. The GoGo offense is a full time Two-Back-Three WR run heavy system that runs RPO, outside zone, counter, triple option, and toss sweeps. The GoGo can use motion, offset backs, it can use unbalanced lines with tight splits on one side and big splits on the other, all things to sow confusion for defenders. As stated in the FishDuck article it uses horizontal and vertical depth to create confusion, space and numbers advantage in blocking. The GoGo has 8 offensive players in the Box against 7 defenders if you play deep safeties or deep quarters. Using the numbers advantage the offense can do all kinds of things, you can even block 7 on 7 with the RB's and run the QB. If the defense moves the safety up into the Box, they will then give up man-to-man coverage on a WR thus giving up the vertical space for a shot pass play as Mr. Mosier View the FishDuck Article and videos by Jeremy Mosier. Notice in the first video at the 49 second mark how much larger the Tackles line splits compared to the center and guards. Maybe Mr. Mosier or Coach Boles has a great answer for why this is done? My guess is to create more horizontal space and to just confuse the defense with a look that they never see. The GoGo can also run unbalanced lines with different splits side to side as well. If we view Coach Boles FishDuck Article we see how Coach Dillingham uses Two-Back sets with a RB on each side of the QB. We, also see him use a halfback in a 21 set and a nice little shovel pass. Will we see Coach Dillingham evolve and insert some of the GoGo tenants into his Two-Back sets? Will we see the offset backs? Will we see unbalanced lines with uneven line splits? Will we see any triple option, counter, or toss sweep with a lead blocking back? I see Two-Back as a good way to get Seven some carries out of the backfield. We are going to want to get Seven at least a dozen touches a game and at least five of those need to be carries. If we don't line him up in the backfield his carries are limited from WR to Fly sweeps or reverse. I can see coach Dillingham using 10-personnel set with Seven at WR and using pre-snap motion to bring him into the backfield and running a sweep with the other back as the lead blocker. Mr. Mosier has the video of the QB running the option to the sidelines, I love Seven in that play too as the pitch man. Obviously, you could also run a bunch of other stuff off this to get Seven a carry in this set, even if he doesn't touch the ball, he is a decoy in essence. You don't even have to motion the 2nd back in, and I think we could get Hutson a few carries a game out of the Two-Back sets. You also have the factor if they bring a safety in the Box you might get Thorton man-on-man and coach Dillingham will want to take a shot at that. Dilly preaches getting numbers, confusion, space with the sets and plays he runs. It will be interesting to see if Dilly runs any of the GoGo tenants of offset backs, unbalanced formations with larger linemen splits to one side, triple option, and counter out of his Two-Back sets. We won't see the GoGo offense full time, but will we see Dilly use some tenants of it in his Two-Back and how much? I'm excited as there really seems some promise of using the Two-Back sets to get Seven carries. I'm curious as to what others thoughts may be. Breaking Down the GoGo Offense: An Option at Oregon? FISHDUCK.COM The GoGo Offense is unlike anything you have witnessed in college football. While we know Oregon's coaching staff has been introduced to it... Two-Back Sets in the Kenny Dillingham Offense FISHDUCK.COM Coach Eric Boles looks at a few of the ways that Coach Kenny Dillingham will look to use two-back sets in the Oregon offense.
  24. The OL isn't a worry for me this year. We have Jarmillo and JPJ with good game experience for depth. Then behind them we have Bram Walden, David Luli and Connerly Jr.
  25. Thanks for the article, Charles you make made some great points. I'm going to say UW will not be Cal, and that DeBoer will get the guys he needs recruited or through the Portal for his system. I say that because his system with all the changing sets, motions, how his route trees work to create open spaces. You're not going to UW playing under DeBoer and going to feel like Mycah Pittman did last year. The defense is going to have a big impact on UW's sucess. Are they going to be playing shootouts or will they get the defense back to being solid? I think BeBoer's offense is going to keep the UW defense off the field a lot more this year. Deboer's offense will get UW some leads this year, and the UW defense didn't get that last year much. Jonathon Donovan's Pro-Style offense averaged 320 yards a game last year and 21 points, in the bottom four of the Pac 12. I wouldn't be surprised to see them numbers go up to over 420 yards a game and 31 points this year and into the top 6 of the Pac 12. If DeBoer gets some defensive help, then I think momentum will build recruiting over the next few years on both sides of the ball significantly. If UW becomes a shootout team with weak defense, then I see UW stuck as an 8-win team that can't land the Dudes they need to get them over the hump.
