  1. If Oregon makes it into the college football playoffs, I would not mind (I) hosting a home game and (II) being on the other side of the bracket from Ohio State.
  2. https://www.si.com/college/oregon/football/nfl-oregon-ducks-espn-college-gameday-guest-picker-marcus-mariota-eugene-justin-herbert “It's also important to note that for week 12 of the NFL season, which overlaps with Oregon's game against USC and GameDay's visit, that the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Chargers, and Washington Commanders all have bye weeks. That means quarterbacks Justin Herbert, Bo Nix, Marcus Mariota, and all other former Oregon athletes that play for said teams will all be available that weekend if GameDay calls.” I like the idea of both Nix and Franklin as Oregon’s guest pickers (if that’s permitted), especially since they just had a great play to set up the game winning FG against Kansas City this past weekend.
  3. That actually may hurt the Ducks, if we drop another game. I’m rooting against all of the teams with 2-loses.
  4. Unbelievable. South Carolina shows why they have a losing record. Need to keep them out of the end zone here.
  5. Former Oregon WR recruit Harbor scored a 80+ yard TD for the Cocks.
  6. Below are my initial observations: • Dante Moore was spectacular (90% completion rate on 30 passes for over 300 yards and 2 TDs). He was a little off early in the game and his receivers picked him up with some spectacular catches. As RGIII said, tonight he made all of the throws. Hopefully this gives him some confidence, after a few miserable weather games, heading down the final stretch. • Kenyon Sadiq and our receivers. Wow. That’s all I can say. They made some spectacular catches - diving, in traffic, dragging their toe to stay in bounds. I can’t wait until we start getting healthy but everyone stepped up tonight and showed that they can ball out. • The defense played extremely well, as always but still has some room to improve to be considered elite. For example, the one Minnesota TD drive where they got burned for some chunk yards against really good calls against the defense formations (e.g., the run to the side we blitzed from). The one field goal was on our offense as they turned it over on our side of the field. Our secondary needs to start picking the ball off. • Why were the Minnesota players chirping against a superior team and down a few TDs? I just don’t understand it.
  7. Does anyone know if Talkin’ Ducks was cancelled? I believe the last episode was a month ago after the Indiana game.
  8. USC and Michigan are now threatening to leave the conference over this. I don’t disagree with their positions but this would be a bit extreme - if you don’t get your way, “take your football and go home.” OutKickUSC, Michigan Reportedly Considering Leaving Big Ten Conf...USC Trojans and Michigan Wolverines oppose Big Ten's private equity investment, potentially risking departure from conference over financial disagreements.
  9. I know it’s going to change but my initial thoughts on the current bracket: Too bad this format did not exist last year. It would be amazing to host a first round game in Eugene, especially against a team like Notre Dame. I’d prefer Miami as it would be hilarious to see Mario at Autzen and see how Miami players deal with the cold and rainy weather. Indiana at #2 had an easier path to the championship game than does Ohio State at #1, as they would likely face the winner of Georgia or Alabama in the semi’s. https://www.espn.ph/college-football/story/_/id/46933253/college-football-playoff-2025-byes-bracket-new-top-25
  10. Former Oregon and NFL offensive lineman, Geoff Schwartz, breaks down some plays from the Iowa game showing some good and bad.
  11. The defensive stats are amazing but for some reason the defense doesn’t seem as dominant as they indicate. I wonder if it’s the result of a few key plays/drives over the course of the game? They seem to have trouble closing out some games (e.g., Penn State, Iowa) after absolutely dominating the majority of the game. In the Iowa game it was a result of a couple of pass coverage breakdowns by LBs and the safeties, and a bad defense call on 4th and goal.
  12. I apologize if I offended anyone.
  13. I also hope that the media continues to doubt Oregon because Coach Lanning and the team certainly use it as extra motivation, as that and other episodes show.
  14. Great episode - includes everything that I enjoy in Ducks vs. Them (e.g., theme of the week, behind the scenes access, coach’s communication, great storyline). Oregon’s media department is the best in the business. No child should suffer from a chronic illness/disease. That story was a tear jerker but totally fits with Iowa’s wave tradition.
  15. That applies to every team, including Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M and Oregon (if we keep winning and make it in)…
  16. This is a narrative pushed by the lazy media and, as you mentioned, I doubt it will ever change. Is Ohio State’s physicality questioned? The Buckeyes like to get the ball out in space to their talented wide receivers and they have not been able to run the football this year. Of all of the traditional B1G powers, I believe that Oregon most resembles Ohio State’s roster and playing style (albeit with a slight talent disadvantage and a defense that is not quite as dominant). Michigan and Penn State are definitely the more traditional B1G style of play.
  17. Or just make the playoffs where you have to beat multiple top teams to win the natty.
  18. Part of me wishes that coaches had one challenge per game where they could challenge any type of call - even “non-reviewable calls.” That Michigan State offsides you described would have been the perfect opportunity to use that challenge.
  19. You and others won’t be saying that if Oregon loses to Baylor and then has to go 10-1 the rest of the season, with a tough conference schedule. You have to weigh the risk/reward at this point, and the football playoff committee is telling you that OOC simply does not matter. Smart programs would be wise to listen to them.
  20. There is no way that Coach Lanning is squeaking out close victories by choice. That would be asking for disaster - one more loss and the college football playoff committee will decide our post season fate. I’m sure Coach Lanning would prefer the less stressful route.
  21. And I don’t believe that our offense had one false start. They have done a great job preparing for the crowd noise this year!
  22. On that play, Iowa had 5 offensive lineman and 5 wide receivers, with an empty backfield. Oregon decided to line up with 3 down lineman and a DE playing as a spy. That is 6 vs 4 advantage in the box for Iowa. Even if it were a pass play, the correct QB read would be to pull the ball down and run (he only needed 3 yards). It’s like the Ducks were daring Iowa’s QB to run the ball, which I don’t understand. I would have dared him to throw the ball with 1:1 coverage against his receivers, given pass defense is the strength of our defense and Iowa is not great at throwing the ball. Even George Wrighster said he was yelling at his TV.
  23. How the heck does Indiana avoid playing: Ohio State, Michigan, USC, and Washington? And they played Old Dominion, Kennesaw State and Indiana State OOC. Pre-season CBS Sports ranked their schedule 2nd easiest in the B1G only ahead of Maryland. I understand unbalanced schedules with super conferences but come on - there has to be more balance.
  24. All this is a capital ($$$) infusion for college athletic departments. I would be surprised if Ohio State went along with this proposal (and Oregon should not either, IMO), as one of the largest, wealthiest and most valuable brands in college football. Locking yourself into a long-term grant of rights seems to be the last thing the top brands would want to do right now given the uncertainty and evolving college football landscape. Just look no further than the top ACC programs. The teams that benefit the most are the B1G bottom dwellers. They are probably paranoid that they will be left out during the next college football realignment (as they should be) and desperately need the money. Under the proposal, there is also an uneven revenue share, which is one reason USC opposes it, as Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State would get more than they would.
