  1. Jackson Shelstad is ahead of where Payton Pritchard was at this stage, IMO. Pritchard really took his game to the next level his final season, where he was dominant. Shelstad has the opportunity to be one of the best basketball players in Oregon history, if he can stay healthy and continue to get better. Like Payton, he is also a winner and wants the ball in his hands at the end of the game. I’m really impressed with this year’s Ducks basketball team. If they can get healthy, they have a chance to make some noise in the NCAA tourney.
  2. I wouldn’t mind seeing McRoy at defensive tackle. Good luck moving or throwing over him!
  3. Thanks for sharing. Does anyone know whether Dante has spent any time in Eugene after deciding to commit to the Ducks? He could also learn from watching Bo prepare for a game.
  4. This is what I was referring to as well. If the Hawaii game were moved to 9/21 then Oregon would have to play 11 straight weeks and if it were moved to 11/23 then Oregon would have 10+ straight games, depending on the conference championship and post season, assuming that my math is correct. That is an insane number of consecutive weeks to go without a break (whatever you want to call it). The athletes need a break to recover from this physically demanding game.
  5. At some point, you just have to face reality. I hope that the young man can earn a college degree and prepares himself for life beyond football.
  6. Dillion Gabriel was looking forward to playing a game in his native Hawaii, so I hope they can figure it out. However, I agree with others - Oregon should not give up its bye week.
  7. I haven’t really watched him but Atticus appears to be a solid, dependable kicker. Much better than what Oregon had this past year.
  8. Chip tied the Niners worse record in franchise history (with only 2 wins). The Niners had 5 wins the season before Chip and 6 the season after. A couple of seasons before he arrived they were playing in the Super Bowl and Shanahan has them playing at an elite level again. Don’t kid yourself, Chip was a special kind of bad in San Francisco.
  9. "As I watch Lanning construct his team in his image, the blueprint is exactly what made Alabama and Georgia the top programs in the nation. Oregon is getting dynamic athletes in the trenches: ones that wreck and control games."
  10. Unless you are a top cornerback, I don't understand why a top high school recruit wold commit to Deion Sanders and Colorado. Everyone knows that he will be gone with the first big time job offer he gets. Colorado did nothing for the Pac-12. They are joining a middle tier college football conference, where they belong.
  11. The Fiesta Bowl is the classic trap game. This may be Liberty's biggest game in their program history and they have nothing to lose. I doubt that Oregon will be able to match Liberty's intensity but hopefully with Bo and the key players we have suiting up for the game, we'll be able to execute a clean game and talent will win in the end.
  12. Given their stadium situation, I wonder if Hawaii would be willing to play the game in Autzen in exchange for $$$.
  13. I also hope that the money set aside for litigation goes into an escrow account and that if the settlement is less then the 10 teams get a pro rata refund.
  14. I acknowledged in my original post that he hasn’t won the big one, yet, but he puts his team in a position to win. This is Michigan’s 3rd consecutive playoff appearance. How many other coaches can claim this accomplishment before the expanded playoff? Last year was a bad loss but the year before he lost to Georgia (I don’t know how anyone could use this as a knock against him). He also regularly beats Ohio State, who has a more talented roster. Most Oregon fans would be happy to be able to beat our #1 rival… Jim Harbough is one of the top 5 current college coaches and has proven that he can win in the NFL.
  15. Oregon has arguably the top returning QB in all of college football with the transfer of Dillon Gabriel. It is said that quarterback is the most important position in all of sports. Oregon is in a win now mode and should be one of the favorites to win the B1G next season, unless we have a flood of key portal transfers after the Fiesta Bowl (which seems extremely unlikely). We’ll have to wait to see how we match up against Michigan and Ohio State but Oregon beat both teams the last time we played them (on the road). Respect everyone, fear no one!
  16. I’m not sure that I agree with you on that last point. I’d rather our coach be less aggressive and play the percentages (i.e., conventional wisdom) than losing games by being too aggressive. This includes taking points in what is expected to be a close game or in which you are favored. Not going for it deep in your own territory (unless you are down late and have no choice) and/or longer than 4th and 1ish (given the significant decrease in conversion percentage for every extra yard to go), unless we are just outside of field goal range. Oregon will have a more talented roster than most teams we play. Don’t give games away with questionable coaching decisions. Fortunately, I believe that Dan Lanning has that growth mindset that he preaches to his players and said that he looks in the mirror, first. I hope that he continues to learn and doesn’t make the same mistakes next year and beyond. If he does, the sky is the limit.
  17. With the exception of the Georgia game, Lanning’s losses have been in close games to good teams, although Oregon had the more talented roster. There were a couple of questionable coaching decisions in some of those games that were debated ad nauseam by fans and the media, which may have directly resulted in the losses. Therefore, my hope is that Lanning reflects on and gets advice from his mentors in the offseason, as part of his 1%, to improve his in-game coaching. He is an elite recruiter and has the respect of his players. What are some of Oregon’s biggest roster needs/question marks heading into next season? I’d like to see Oregon pick up a #1 receiver in the transfer portal and wouldn’t mind a proven RB (Ollie Gordon II, the all American and Doak Award winner from Oklahoma State would be a dream pickup). I’d also like to bring in at least one experienced, proven defensive tackle. I also question Will Stein’s game planning and call selection at critical moments but that is another issue to discuss another day. Ollie Gordon II Transfer Portal: 5 landing spots for the Oklahoma State RB WWW.SPORTSKEEDA.COM Social media space was rife Monday night with rumors about Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon II entering the transfer portal.
  18. Chip should coach at a lower level or someplace where there isn’t pressure to win every season.
  19. Chip is done in the NFL unless he is hired as an OC. Id like the Chargers to hire a good offensive mind that can develop Herbert to his full potential. Jim Harbough would be an ideal candidate, but per my previous post, tends to quickly wear out his welcome with his abrasive personality. He certainly knows how to coach QBs and win.
  20. Jim Harbough (JH) is one of the best coaches in football. JH has won everywhere he’s been (even Stanford), although he hasn’t won the big one, yet. However, JH quickly wears out his welcome with his abrasive personality. I wonder if Michigan has an out, if the NCAA drops the hammer on the program and/or JH. He has been daring the NCAA to do something since he has been at UM.
  21. Looks like Akili Jr. got his dad’s arm talent! Really excited about his future in Eugene.
  22. Sounds like all of Oregon’s decommits fell in the recruiting rankings, some significantly. Perhaps they did not have the senior year production or continued to develop, as expected. I wish them luck (except when they play us) and am extremely happy with the players who chose to sign with Oregon.
  23. I respectfully disagree with this. Coach Helfrich lived off of the fertile land that Coach Kelly left for him. However, it was apparent, to those close to the program, that it was deteriorating under his watch. Mark Helfrich is a nice guy and a very good QB coach and offensive coordinator but he is not head coach material.
  24. Unfortunately, every time the courts get involved they make college football worse. First, NIL without any limits/restriction and, more recently, eliminating the rule that a player has to sit out a year after the first transfer.
  25. I couldn't find any good highlight videos of Jericho Johnson but love his size (6’4” 300 lbs.). Ayden Breland is ~290 lbs and very athletic for his size. Our coaches are absolutely killing it on the defensive line. It’s going to be fun to watch Oregon’s defense wreck havoc for years to come! Go Ducks!
