  1. The offensive line is playing terrific. DG has been perfect both throwing and running the ball. Glad to see Holden catching some downfield passes. He has a great attitude.
  2. The bad snap helped....
  3. Oregon State fan: "NOOOOOOO! GET HIM......"
  4. Why play that soft coverage on 3rd and long?
  5. Nice job by the offense, especially the offensive line, on that drive. Keep it up!
  6. Bend but don't break defense? Terrible open field coverage by the leader of our defense on 3rd and long...
  7. I'm cautiously optimistic that the Ducks found a combination that worked during the second half of the BSU game. We just need the offensive line to be decent/good (i.e., not get blown up) against Oregon State.
  8. Not to mention, if Boise State runs the table, that’ll be a pretty good win at the end of the season (regardless of how Oregon looked or had to win the game).
  9. Bill: And why couldn't Oregon State and Washington State done the honorable thing and just have joined the MWC? I can't wait to hear what the MWC commissioner and the schools being left behind say about this. Hopefully the media also does a behind the scenes look at how it all went down, like they did for the Pac-12.
  10. Honestly, I’m not sure what you can do about the first turnover (fumble). The BSU defender put his helmet right on the ball. It was a great play. However, I agree with you. The offense has to clean things up and execute more efficiently. The penalties are killing drives and taking points off the board.
  11. Big Suke’s take: https://www.audacy.com/podcast/primetime-with-isaac-and-suke-d0695/episodes/oregons-o-line-issues-c5e4a?action=AUTOPLAY_FULL&actionContentId=201-0374b36b-f3ba-4dec-bf66-3dd93b9bfeb6
  12. Thank you, Charles. Another great analysis including wonderful slow motion video (note: I wouldn't want to be those linebackers seeing those huge guys in green coming at them!). Our blocking improved noticeably in the second half against BSU. Hopefully, our coaches found an offensive line group that will continue to improve until the starters are able to come back from injury. Big Suke said that Oregon was playing an offensive lineman who just isn't at this level. Most fans, myself included, don't appreciate the importance of the offensive line enough until you have issues, like we've had through 1 1/2 games. It makes you appreciate how elite Oregon's offensive line has been the past two seasons (and even further back under Coach Greatwood). When DG had some time and space, he showed that he is capable of hitting the talented receivers down the field. That will open up the running game. GO DUCKS!!! STOMP THE BEAVERS!!!
  13. If the officials didn't blow the Dyer call, Oregon would have won the national championship.
  14. Or Half Pac (depending on your POV)…
  15. So, let me get this straight: • The Mountain West Conference (MWC) forms a scheduling alliance with Oregon State and Washington State, after the other 10 PAC-12 universities left the conference, so that they could play football this season. • OSU and WSU then decide to poach the top four MWC schools with the money that they stole from the departing 10 universities, leaving the MWC on life support. Did I get that right? If so, that is WAY worse than the departing universities giving official notice after the PAC-12 media deal concluded. I don’t want to hear OSU and WSU fans / apologists trying to maintain the moral high ground ever again.
  16. So, Coach Lanning’s team will just have to go undefeated now to prove you wrong… How hard can it be?
  17. Wait…if you’ve taken 3 sips from the half full glass is it now 1/4 full?!!
  18. It could also be DG’s nature to be more laid back (so was Marcus). Bo was super intense and vocal. I’ll never forget Bo giving the running backs coach an earful while following him down the sideline after a play. I don’t think it’s fair that Oregon fans keep comparing DG to Bo. Bo was a 1st round NFL draft selection and is now the starting QB for the Denver Broncos. He also played at Oregon for two years (and has prior experience in Dillingham’s offense as a freshman at Auburn) - DG just finished his second game and has been on campus since the spring. Oregon is darn lucky that they both decided to play in Eugene. The current issues on offense is squarely on the offensive line (and untimely penalties). We need Lamar Jackson to be successful right now…
  19. I believe that the offensive line play is so atrocious, Coach Stein doesn't know what the heck to call (see the 3 straight run plays on 1st and forever and the trick plays in the BSU game). The OL did improve a little in the second half and I am hopeful that they find a group that can do a serviceable job (i.e., open up some running lanes and give DG at least 3-4 seconds to throw the ball). IMO, DG has played as well as can be expected given the terrible play of the offensive line (59/70, 84.3% completion %, 623 yards, 5 total TD, 0 interceptions). He is also not throwing the OL under the bus, like Shedeur Sanders just did at Colorado. I'd like to see him see the pressure better and call more audibles/change the press but perhaps he is not comfortable enough with the playbook or taking on that leadership role, yet. He just missed a couple of downfield passes (one was ~6 inches from being complete) but did connect on some earlier in the game, when give time. Coach Lanning was calmer than I expected in the post-game press conference. He praised the grittiness of the team to get the win. Perhaps he has lowered his expectations of the team a bit and realizes that we are going to have to gut out close W's?
  20. I'm not sure if it's the same plays, but Jabbar got picked/rubbed on a few of the receptions with the receivers crossing (e.g., scissor route). Overall, Jabbar and the rest of the defense played really well in coverage and had a lot of batted down passes. One of our strengths yesterday, along with special teams.
  21. I have reduced my expectations for this season. The offensive line is terrible (note: I can’t recall watching a worse offensive line at Oregon, even with 2 and 3 star players). I believe it’s more than a few injuries causing the issues. Even our highly regarded offensive tackles have regressed, so it appears to be coaching (or lack thereof). Without an offensive line, a team will not be able to do much on offense and I don’t believe that Oregon’s defense is good enough to carry the team. At this point, I see at least 2-3 losses on the schedule. If that happens, I hope that Coach Lanning shows that he is willing to make changes to right the ship. P.S. - It might be a good time for the players to organize a players only meeting. They need to regroup and hold one another accountable for their effort and play, if they want to have a chance to achieve their goals this season.
  22. Giving the game away in the 4th quarter...
  23. Everything is DG's fault. The dude is 12/13 (92.3% completion %) for 205 yards with 3 TDs and 0 interceptions, and he is still being criticized.
  24. UTSA had a very mobile quarterback, if I'm not mistaken. Think Dennis Dixon. Another option would be to move the pocket on passing plays (e.g., bootlegs)...
