Ducks Move to No. 3 in Both Polls
If Oregon loses a close game, we should remain in the top 5 (Oregon's lone loss would be "better" than any other team's). However, if we are blown out at home (and look bad doing so), we could drop out of the top 10. Luckily, there is still plenty of time to climb back up the standings before the playoffs.

Oregon Offense: Will Stein Backs Up His Vow
Very good examples, Charles. It's great to see our young coaches learning from past shortcomings and making adjustments. It's also wonderful to see Oregon run the ball on those critical 3rd or 4th and short plays, as I believe that they have a higher conversion rate. In the first play you highlighted, it appears that the Michigan State defender (#27?) would have been in a position to make the play, if he didn't bite on the misdirection or was more athletic to recover. I'm sure that Ohio State will be coaching the backside help to freeze and, even if they take a step in the wrong direction, their 5-star athletes will be quick enough to recover (then it's a just a matter of who wins the 1:1 battle). It'll be interesting to see if Coach Stein has a counter to this play against Ohio State. As I mentioned above, I'm really interested to see if Oregon opens up a more intermediate passing attack or has some counters to the wide receiver bubble screens. I would expect Ohio State to crowd the line of scrimmage and play press coverage with their CBs until Oregon proves that they can beat them. Go Ducks!!! Saturday can't come soon enough...

Oregon Offense: Will Stein Backs Up His Vow
Coach Lanning said that the coaches made the decision to hold back some things in the second half of the UCLA game due to the score. I'm assuming that it was the same with the Michigan State game. Hopefully, we see more of an intermediate passing attack and some counters off of the bubble/wide receiver screens against the Buckeyes.

UO/MSU Game Had Crazy Viewership!
And Fox and the B1G got Oregon for partial shares… I’m confused - I thought “market size” was the only important criteria with TV ratings and conference expansion. How's that L.A. market doing?

LOL. They should put "Miami (+ ACC Replay Officials)" at #6.

Trojan Tears are Wonderful
"Riley wasted the 2023 season, and that wasted year put USC well behind Oregon in recruiting and portal acquisitions." I agree with the author that USC should have made a change in the defensive staff sooner (as early as the bowl loss to Tulane). USC wasted a tremendous opportunity with Caleb Williams the last 2 years. If USC made the college football playoffs last year, it would have created more buzz around the program and potentially ignited their recruiting. They seem stagnant as a program with Riley and I'm not sure that he is capable of building the program where they want to be (remember he took over an established program from Bob Stoops, like Chip Kelly did from Mike Bellotti). Oh well. USC being down benefits Oregon, as we continue to get the top California recruits, particularly on the defensive side of the ball.

My Sunday Game Observations: More Progress Than I Thought...
The offensive line has been doing a great job but the step up in talent will be significant on Saturday. I’m hoping that they can more than hold their own. One of my favorite plays was when the center dropped back and looped around to help a blitzing linebacker coming from the left edge. The TV announcers highlighted the play. There was another one where Tez pointed out that the CB was going to blitz and DG hit him for a nice gain. The blocking has improved significantly but so has the communication. Anxious to see how the team performs on Saturday (i.e., the mid term).

Why? It looks like the DB just wanted a hug, in the middle of the play…

ESPN ‘College GameDay’ Returning to Eugene: Big Ten Showdown, Oregon vs Ohio State
I am hoping for someone who hasn’t been on Gameday before. In addition to the names above, what about: • Dan Fouts: Legenday Duck, NFL QB and broadcaster • Ahmad Rashad: See above but WR/RB • Neil Everett: Former ESPN SportsCenter anchor, who loves the Ducks • Cole Hocker: 2024 Olympic gold medalist in the 1,500 • CJ Vardell: A troll for our Ohio State visitors after rushing for 161 and 2 TDs on 20 carries (8.0 yards per carry), plus 34 yards receiving and another TD at the Shoe • Sam Elliott: Academy award-nominated actor with iconic voice, attended U of O from 1962-63 (only if he wears a cowboy hat) So many great Ducks to choose from!

I wish Canzo would just cover Oregon State and Washington State and leave the University of Oregon to others.

Trojan Tears are Wonderful
A head coach with prolific offenses and Heisman winning QBs but questionable defenses and limited success in the post-season. They certainly like flash in LA (style over substance)!

Is Tez Johnson THAT Good?
And that’s why I’m not a big fan of this offense. I like more balance with a solid running game and intermediate passing game. Oregon’s current offense works well against teams with lessor talent (i.e., most of the schedule) but we’ll see how it performs against elite defensive talent. I think that Ohio State will stack the box and play press, man to man coverage outside, until Oregon shows it can consistently beat them downfield. Hopefully Evan Stewart is healthy and ready to roll on Saturday.

Trojan Tears are Wonderful
Those former OCs under Pete Carroll have been doing quite well at programs that are all in on football, haven’t they?

Trojan Tears are Wonderful
LOL. Maybe their fans will realize there are more problems in LA LA Land than the head football coach or conference…

Yahoo Sports Top 10, No Preseason Rankings Used
LOL. That’s a joke. We all know that Penn State is incapable of beating Ohio State or Michigan. Yahoo doesn’t take in the eyeball test into consideration. Texas and Ohio State look like the best teams to me, right now, but I also wouldn’t sleep on Georgia. I don’t know what to make of Alabama after yesterday’s game… P.S. - Husky fans will tell you that they should be #1 after they “revenged” their loss in the championship game last night (just don’t remind them that Harbaugh is back in the NFL and they don’t have the same teams)…

Laziest Reporting Ever
After watching Miami’s last two games, I would love for Miami to go undefeated and play Oregon in the college football playoffs (even if the game is in Miami)! Duck fans fondly remember the result of the last time an Oregon team played an undefeated ACC teams in the playoffs…

Is Tez Johnson THAT Good?
I agree. Tez is a terrific talent (thank you, Bo!) but DG has to find a way to spread the ball around a bit more (Tez has more receptions than the next two receivers combined). DG seems to be locking in on Tez too often and is consequently missing open receivers. Oregon has a lot of weapons on offense. We need to spread the ball around especially against the best teams like Ohio State. I’m also not a big fan of OC Will Steins’ reliance on short passes (dink and dunk). Ohio State is going to press with their NFL talent until Oregon proves that they can beat them down the field. We need more intermediate passes this weekend and to hit on a couple of the deep throws.
