  1. Wait…if you’ve taken 3 sips from the half full glass is it now 1/4 full?!!
  2. It could also be DG’s nature to be more laid back (so was Marcus). Bo was super intense and vocal. I’ll never forget Bo giving the running backs coach an earful while following him down the sideline after a play. I don’t think it’s fair that Oregon fans keep comparing DG to Bo. Bo was a 1st round NFL draft selection and is now the starting QB for the Denver Broncos. He also played at Oregon for two years (and has prior experience in Dillingham’s offense as a freshman at Auburn) - DG just finished his second game and has been on campus since the spring. Oregon is darn lucky that they both decided to play in Eugene. The current issues on offense is squarely on the offensive line (and untimely penalties). We need Lamar Jackson to be successful right now…
  3. I believe that the offensive line play is so atrocious, Coach Stein doesn't know what the heck to call (see the 3 straight run plays on 1st and forever and the trick plays in the BSU game). The OL did improve a little in the second half and I am hopeful that they find a group that can do a serviceable job (i.e., open up some running lanes and give DG at least 3-4 seconds to throw the ball). IMO, DG has played as well as can be expected given the terrible play of the offensive line (59/70, 84.3% completion %, 623 yards, 5 total TD, 0 interceptions). He is also not throwing the OL under the bus, like Shedeur Sanders just did at Colorado. I'd like to see him see the pressure better and call more audibles/change the press but perhaps he is not comfortable enough with the playbook or taking on that leadership role, yet. He just missed a couple of downfield passes (one was ~6 inches from being complete) but did connect on some earlier in the game, when give time. Coach Lanning was calmer than I expected in the post-game press conference. He praised the grittiness of the team to get the win. Perhaps he has lowered his expectations of the team a bit and realizes that we are going to have to gut out close W's?
  4. I'm not sure if it's the same plays, but Jabbar got picked/rubbed on a few of the receptions with the receivers crossing (e.g., scissor route). Overall, Jabbar and the rest of the defense played really well in coverage and had a lot of batted down passes. One of our strengths yesterday, along with special teams.
  5. I have reduced my expectations for this season. The offensive line is terrible (note: I can’t recall watching a worse offensive line at Oregon, even with 2 and 3 star players). I believe it’s more than a few injuries causing the issues. Even our highly regarded offensive tackles have regressed, so it appears to be coaching (or lack thereof). Without an offensive line, a team will not be able to do much on offense and I don’t believe that Oregon’s defense is good enough to carry the team. At this point, I see at least 2-3 losses on the schedule. If that happens, I hope that Coach Lanning shows that he is willing to make changes to right the ship. P.S. - It might be a good time for the players to organize a players only meeting. They need to regroup and hold one another accountable for their effort and play, if they want to have a chance to achieve their goals this season.
  6. Giving the game away in the 4th quarter...
  7. Everything is DG's fault. The dude is 12/13 (92.3% completion %) for 205 yards with 3 TDs and 0 interceptions, and he is still being criticized.
  8. UTSA had a very mobile quarterback, if I'm not mistaken. Think Dennis Dixon. Another option would be to move the pocket on passing plays (e.g., bootlegs)...
  9. I love watching Boettcher play. He's like an old school linebacker.
  10. Is Coach Dudwig or Willie available?
  11. Coach Lanning should have just punted on 1st and 17...
  12. If Oregon wins this game, they'll have fun with him this week during film review...
  13. Have they or are they just running the ball away from them so they can't muck it up?
  14. I'm glad to see Traeshon Holden get a TD. I love his attitude.
  15. Surprise. Surprise. Another targeting by a Boise State defender...
  16. DG is one of the most mobile QBs on the roster. He is 9/10 for 133 yards and 2 TD (1 running and 1 passing). The only incompletion was a pass he was pressured on. I'm not sure what else he can do. This mess is totally on the offensive line.
  17. DG had time on those throws. When he has time, he has shown what he is capable of. The issue is that he is not getting good protection consistently. This will start to affect DG mentally, if it hasn't already, and he'll start looking at the rush instead of looking down the field.
  18. Have the long snapper play center and have DG line up 15 yards behind the line of scrimmage? LOL.
  19. What do you call? * We can't run the ball... * Our offensive line cannot block for more than 2 seconds... Maybe keep 2 backs or TEs in the backfield to pass protect?
  20. I would be all for it! He's 66 years young.
  21. At least we can look forward to another great analysis by Charles with plenty of film of what went wrong (again). Maybe Oregon's offensive line coaches can refer to his article because I don't know what the heck they've been doing all week.
  22. LOL. What is Oregon's offensive line capable of doing; other than watching pass rushers go by them? I've been watching Oregon football for decades and this is by far the worst offensive line I have ever seen at Oregon. Coach Greatwood would develop under the radar recruits into a cohesive unit. I don't know who is responsible for this mess we are watching.
  23. This team is playing like trash. DG should have gone somewhere else. Oregon is wasting his talent and he is going to get hurt.
