  1. With the exception of the Georgia game, Lanning’s losses have been in close games to good teams, although Oregon had the more talented roster. There were a couple of questionable coaching decisions in some of those games that were debated ad nauseam by fans and the media, which may have directly resulted in the losses. Therefore, my hope is that Lanning reflects on and gets advice from his mentors in the offseason, as part of his 1%, to improve his in-game coaching. He is an elite recruiter and has the respect of his players. What are some of Oregon’s biggest roster needs/question marks heading into next season? I’d like to see Oregon pick up a #1 receiver in the transfer portal and wouldn’t mind a proven RB (Ollie Gordon II, the all American and Doak Award winner from Oklahoma State would be a dream pickup). I’d also like to bring in at least one experienced, proven defensive tackle. I also question Will Stein’s game planning and call selection at critical moments but that is another issue to discuss another day. Ollie Gordon II Transfer Portal: 5 landing spots for the Oklahoma State RB WWW.SPORTSKEEDA.COM Social media space was rife Monday night with rumors about Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon II entering the transfer portal.
  2. Chip should coach at a lower level or someplace where there isn’t pressure to win every season.
  3. Chip is done in the NFL unless he is hired as an OC. Id like the Chargers to hire a good offensive mind that can develop Herbert to his full potential. Jim Harbough would be an ideal candidate, but per my previous post, tends to quickly wear out his welcome with his abrasive personality. He certainly knows how to coach QBs and win.
  4. Jim Harbough (JH) is one of the best coaches in football. JH has won everywhere he’s been (even Stanford), although he hasn’t won the big one, yet. However, JH quickly wears out his welcome with his abrasive personality. I wonder if Michigan has an out, if the NCAA drops the hammer on the program and/or JH. He has been daring the NCAA to do something since he has been at UM.
  5. Looks like Akili Jr. got his dad’s arm talent! Really excited about his future in Eugene.
  6. Sounds like all of Oregon’s decommits fell in the recruiting rankings, some significantly. Perhaps they did not have the senior year production or continued to develop, as expected. I wish them luck (except when they play us) and am extremely happy with the players who chose to sign with Oregon.
  7. I respectfully disagree with this. Coach Helfrich lived off of the fertile land that Coach Kelly left for him. However, it was apparent, to those close to the program, that it was deteriorating under his watch. Mark Helfrich is a nice guy and a very good QB coach and offensive coordinator but he is not head coach material.
  8. Unfortunately, every time the courts get involved they make college football worse. First, NIL without any limits/restriction and, more recently, eliminating the rule that a player has to sit out a year after the first transfer.
  9. I couldn't find any good highlight videos of Jericho Johnson but love his size (6’4” 300 lbs.). Ayden Breland is ~290 lbs and very athletic for his size. Our coaches are absolutely killing it on the defensive line. It’s going to be fun to watch Oregon’s defense wreck havoc for years to come! Go Ducks!
  10. For anyone who knows, what is the difference between DE and EDGE?
  11. Because Florida State has won 2 National Championships in the past 10 years (beating top SEC teams), brings lots of eyeballs for TV advisers while expanding the media market footprint and further opens up the talent rich Florida recruiting market?
  12. “Florida State calls emergency board meeting, could take first step toward leaving ACC, per reports” There are also rumblings that Clemson might have found a way out of the ACC grant of right. Florida State calls emergency board meeting, could take first step toward leaving ACC, per reports - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Momentum has only increased for an ACC departure after FSU was left out of the College Football... What's next for Florida State and the ACC? - ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM Being left out of the College Football Playoff has the Seminoles again thinking...
  13. Recruiting is the lifeblood of a college football program. Dan Lanning believes that both high school and transfer portal recruiting is important. We hope that the high school recruits, with the help of our coaches, will become impact players for the Ducks. However, if they don’t develop as expected, are injured or transfer out, then the transfer portal is a viable option to plug holes in the roster or upgrade talent at critical positions. Oregon’s goal should always be to compete for a conference championship and make the expanded college football playoff. Our coaching staff needs to determine what is needed to achieve that goal.
  14. I’m sorry but I don’t understand the logic in the article. How does joining the B1G prevent Dan Lanning from becoming the head coach at Georgia (or Alabama)? These teams are built to win championships now, are playing in the top college football conference, are surrounded by elite high school football talent and are known to pay more for their head coaches than Oregon ever has. If the author mentioned a non-power 2 conference team or a middle to bottom tier team from one of the power 2 conferences, I would agree, but Georgia?
  15. BTW, congrats Bulldog fans on signing the #1 recruiting class. Oregon under Dan Lanning is closing the gap but still has some work to do.
  16. Can an SEC like built team compete in the B1G? We are about to find out. Oregon = Georgia West Based on how Dan Lanning is building the team (quantity of dudes, cleaning up on defense, adding talented skill players). He’s learned from Kirby Smart and Nick Saban. Getting most of the top players in California and West of the Mississippi. Is there a better coach at flipping commits with signing day coming up? Good stuff. Worth the listen.
  17. Mario also chased star rankings. I have a lot more faith in our current staff’s ability to evaluate talent and not just rely on the recruiting rankings.
  18. You could make the case that Helfrich was the best evaluator of QB talent but he wasn’t an elite recruiter. IIRC, Tua Tagovailoa grew up a Marcus Mariota and Oregon Ducks fan. There is no way that Lanning and Stein would have let Tua get away (see Dillon Gabriel).
  19. Average viewers by million (Nielsen rated games) 1. Alabama 7.12 (11) 2. Ohio State 6.05 (11) 3. Colorado 6.00 (9) 4. Georgia 5.90 (11) 5. Michigan 5.61 (12) 6. Tennessee 4.57 (7) 7. Oregon 4.43 (10) 8. Texas 4.26 (12) 9. Florida State 4.16 (12) 10. Notre Dame 4.15 (10) Washington (11), USC (13) …ahead of Texas and Notre Dame! https://www.actionnetwork.com/ncaaf/college-football-programs-nielsen-ratings
  20. Ohio State has had some really good WRs over the past few years. Hopefully, Jeremiah McClellan fits the mold.

  22. Dante Moore commits to Oregon: Ex-UCLA QB, one-time Ducks commit, joins Dillon Gabriel through transfer portal - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Moore was committed to Oregon before flipping to UCLA late in the recruiting cycle
  23. Charles called it a couple of weeks ago!!! Gabriel and Moore to Oregon… “Though the Ducks were able to land Oklahoma transfer Dillon Gabriel earlier in the month, they still managed to convince Moore to come to Eugene and develop under one of the best young offensive coordinators in the nation, waiting in the wing for a year with the promise of taking over one of the most explosive offenses in all of college football in 2025. In terms of wins in the transfer portal, it’s hard to image a bigger victory for the Oregon Ducks at this point. With Heisman finalist Bo Nix heading off to the NFL, Lanning and the Ducks now landed two of the best passers on the open market this offseason, setting up his team for as bright of a future as you could imagine.” BREAKING: UCLA QB Dante Moore to transfer to Oregon Ducks SPORTS.YAHOO.COM History repeats itself. Dante Moore is going to be a Duck.
