Ducks Top 3 Recruiting Targets
So, 24/7 and Rivals are usually pretty quick with the updates, but neither have Gracen Halton as a Duck, at least in their team rankings. Both show him as a Duck on his player profile.

Brown or Shough? The Choice Is Clear Here.
I'm still angry we are traveling to tOSU. With pretty much every OOC game cancelled last year, every team should have pushed their OOC games back 1 year. Ducks are getting hosed as this isn't going to be a home and home game with tOSU. I know the optics wouldn't look good, but if I'm Oregon I tell tOSU our contract is void. I wish the NCAA would disallow teams to schedule OOC more than 3 years in advance.

Brown or Shough? The Choice Is Clear Here.
I'd prefer to jump straight to TT, but if he isn't the best guy for the job, then I'll root for who is. I don't think Brown or Shough passed the eye test for a top QB in a power 5 conference. No idea if it was because of the strangenous of the season or if they just aren't very good. We'll get to see next season.

Oregon Clinches Pac-12 Recruiting Title with Byron Cardwell.
Yep, the class rankings at 24/7 and Rivals have all the teams ranked 3-7 within a single 3 star signee. The Ducks really need to sign one more player after Cardwell to stay in the top 6.

(FishDuck Article) What you MUST KNOW about the Tim DeRuyter Defense
I'm not sure if this article has been linked about coach Deruyter. Seems like quite a few football people think highly of Tim Deruyter. https://autzenzoo.com/2021/01/22/oregon-football-ducks-hire-tim-deruyter-defensive-coordinator/

COVID Sports Question for Medical Professionals and Everyone?
I missed the game, so I'm not sure what was exactly said. It could have been where the first test was positive, but the 2nd test was negative and they were waiting to perform a 3rd test. The protocols from what I have seen have not been followed very consistently by teams/conferences. My preference would have been to leave the player in quarantine. We still aren't getting a consistent answer on asymptomatic being contagious or not.

"The "Playoff" Is A Mess, Here's How It Can Be Fixed
This next TV contract is going to be huge for the Pac 12. They are going to need to drop sole ownership of the Pac 12 Network and come to an agreement with either Fox or CBS. I'd really be pushing for Fox, since they are trying to keep up with ESPN when it comes to sports.

"The "Playoff" Is A Mess, Here's How It Can Be Fixed
I think that boat has sailed a long time ago. Conferences are not going to give up control of their cash cow. As we have seen with recent articles, there have already been some talk of the Power 5 conferences moving away and doing their own thing with football. If NCAA were to try and grab that from them, they would definitely walk away and take Men's basketball with them. However, Pac 12 and Big 12 get the shaft the most, so if they could pull the BIG TEN with them to make changes. the SEC and ACC would have to follow.

News Flash: Bye Bye Larry Scott!
Hoping the new commissoner puts the Pac 12 on the right financial track.

Payton Pritchard: A New NBA RECORD?
I'm not sure what the percentages are for succeeding in the NBA based on number of years out of High School, but I would say there are many more players that succeed with less than 4 years than those with 4 years. The most recent name I can think of with 4 years of experience and succeeding is Damian Lillard and he was drafted in 2012. There are definitely plenty of players who should have stayed longer in college, but I'm not sure there would be very many of them that it would have made a difference. Great to see Pritchard succeeding. I know I thought he would be a fringe bench player at most, but I'm glad he is proving me wrong.

Three New Names Added to Oregon DC Hot Board
Not apples to apples, but remember Dana Altman was an undewhelming choice for the Men's basketball headcoach. Granted, underwhelming picks tend to do just that. I'd say the hiring of Dana Altman was an outlier. Whomever, gets the job, I'll give him a chance.

Remember when Cameron Colvin Fumbled Through The End Zone?
I so hate that rule. I think they could/should fix it. If no team recovers the ball before it goes out of bounds, the ball should be place at the spot of the fumble to the offense. The defense should not be rewarded when they did not come up with the ball.

Change Is Coming For The Lady Ducks
Coach Graves mentioned he was trying to keep everybody happy. After Paopao, Sabally, Boley and Mikesell I'm not sure who I'd want on the floor. Every other lady have been pretty inconsistent, but most have really great upside if they become consistent.

Chris Boucher is Exploding NBA Heads...
Alvin Robertson won Most Improved and Defensive player of the year in 1985-86. Darrell Armstrong won 6th man and Most Improved in 1998-99. So, winning even 2 of 3 would be rare.

Oh No! Anthony Lynn an OC Candidate for the Seahawks
As long as he is NOT part of clock management decisions, it might be OK.

Has Todd McShay Doomed Penei Sewell's NFL Career?
It will suck for P. Sewell to play for the Jets for 5 seasons, but he'll be able to move on after his rookie contract is up. Luckily, his performance at tackle is solely on him. The offense might stink, but if he gives up zero sacks, he'll be noticed and be able to sign anywhere. I think he is a great tackle, but I wasn't planning on watching games to watch him play.

Football - Playoff Expansion Discussion Topic!
I agree expansion is coming. I don't think they will drop the number of regular season games from 12. There are 130 FBS football teams with only 8 going to the playoffs and 40 bowl games. That leaves 50 teams that won't make a bowl game and are left at 12 regular season games. With only 8 playoff teams, that means only 4 teams will play more than 13 games. As it stands, it is likely 3 of those 4 teams will Alabama, Ohio State and Clemson. Those 3 teams routinely have top 5 recruiting classes and tend to have a higher number of players making the field in any given year. The remaining 126 teams aren't going to give up a regular season game and all the money that comes with that. I do find it odd that the G5 doesn't try and get the PAC 12 , Big 12 and possibly BIG TEN to make changes. PAC 12 and Big 12 are getting left out, so they have the most to lose financially. Of course, both leagues are not really coming from a position of power to try and dictate change. My preference would be for all power 5 champs get in, the top G5 if undefeated or ranked in the top 15 and 2 at large bids. However, the 2 at large bids can't come from the same conference, so no conference will ever have more than 2 of 8 playoff spots.

Rumblings of Defiance: Vaccination Required to Enter Autzen?
You absolutely will get a vaccination certificate. Or at least they should be handing them out, I have mine showing my the date of my 1st shot. My local hospital is ahead of schedule giving the vaccination out to all hospital employees. That is encouraging, but most experts are predicting it won't be until late summer where we could get close to have enough people vaccinated to be considered safe. If they are going to require proof of vaccination, my guess is it will be only for the 2021 season. There will be those who can't get it for health reasons and those who choose not to get it. The tediousness of showing proof of vaccination won't be sustainable for more than 1 season.

Ten-Year Burn: Dyer was DOWN!
Dyer being down or not, is probably the 3rd worst call in the game. It just happened to happen at the end of the game, to make it appear more pivotal.

Rumblings of Defiance: Vaccination Required to Enter Autzen?
Autzen stadium is a private facility, pretty simple they can ask for people to be vaccinated. However, the lines going into Autzen will take that much longer to get in. 😞 As for vaccination being a personal decision, that really isn't correct either. Since vaccinations really started being distributed in the 1940s, the percentage of people being vaccinated in the US is well over 90%. In order for kids to go to public school, they must have most vaccinated shots. School districts do allow some exceptions, but not many. I work for a hospital (In the pathology department), so I received my first COVID Pfizer vaccination on Tuesday 1/5/21. My current experience: If you get the flu shot, the soreness was just a bit more, but lasted about the same length of 48 hours. I had no other side effects. Some coworkers had low energy for about 48 hours. Some got a headache for a few hours afterwards. Supposedly, the 2nd shot has shown to have more intense side effects. In my opinion, science doesn't have opinions, it has facts. However, since science is performed and reviewed by humans, the waters get muddied. In my opinion, getting the COVID vaccine was an easy decision. I understand the risk of potential unknown long term side effects, but we already know about 10% of COVID patients have long term debilitating side effects. I am willing to believe in the science and the unknown, over the danger of eventually getting COVID and its known side effects.

How Pac-12 Football Became an Absolute Joke (Whew!)
So, the Pac-12 scheduling this year is a joke, but what the ACC and the SEC do every year isn't? Can't have it both ways. Granted, both conferences have teams take advantage of said joke schedules, but they still have joke schedules.

FishDuck Article: "Can Oregon Fix Its Coaching Problem in 2021?"
One season doesn't make a trend. It is probably splitting hairs, but I don't see a failure to develop talent. It is more of the coaches needing to know how to use the talent they have. We heaped praise for 2019. Now all of a sudden they don't know what they are doing in 2020? I can't get on that train, yet. I agree Faoliu, Scott and Funa didn't perform as I would have hoped. I can get on the train of not developing talent, if our D is just as bad or worse next season.

Avalos No Longer the Top Candidate for Boise State?
Andy is still a top candidate for the Boise St. job.

FishDuck Article: "Can Oregon Fix Its Coaching Problem in 2021?"
I can't agree that the Ducks have failed to develop the talent on defense. In 2018 Ducks gave up 27.0 points and 390 yards per game. In 2019 it was 15.7 and 330 per game. Ducks lost their entire starting offensive line, starting QB 1 WR and 1 TE. On defense the Ducks lost 2 LBs and 3 guys in the secondary. That is losing 15 starters out of 22. The Ducks were only supposed to lose 11 starters. Those four starters who were supposed to come back were huge. Best O-lineman in college football in the last decade and what many considered the best secondary in the nation. We can't praise the Ducks defense for being great in 2019 and then all of a sudden say the coaches can't develop talent in 2020. I do think the next guy up needed to do better, but we playing 3 guys in secondary who were not expecting to get the majority of the play time before the season started. If our offense had 2 less 3 and outs per game our defense looks that much better. With our offense sputtering, it certainly hurt our defense numbers. As fans we can't be feathers in the wind, we need to put our feet down and stand against the wind sometimes. RBs since 2000 5* Jonathan Stewart, Thomas Tyner, Lache Seastrunk, De'Anthony Thomas 4* Royce Freeman, Byron Marshall, Dontae Williams, LeGarrette Blount, Jamal Elliott, Taj Griffin, Sean Dollars, Chris Harper, Seven McGee 3* Trey Benson
