  1. I'm not really fine with standing pat, but looking at the teams willing to move to the Pac 12, meh. Also, not really willing to go the Conference USA route and have schools all over the country. I wouldn't have been against BYU, Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU, and/or Houston joining the Pac 12, but I'm not upset we didn't go that direction. We'll see what happens with the next round of TV contracts. You do make a good point about recruiting for the rest of the conference. They stink and having a college in Texas would likely help the conference and when Mario eventually leaves help the Ducks.
  2. I get it, but having more isn't always better. Big 12 TV contract is going to be way less than Pac 12. Even if the Pac 12 would have invited any from the 4: Baylor, Texas Tech, Oklahoma St., TCU, Kansas, Kansas St., Houston, SMU, etc. It would not have been a boost to the Pac 12. If those teams mattered for TV dollars, Texas and Oklahoma wouldn't have left. Houston and SMU would have previously been invited into the Big 12. Houston is trending the wrong way as well for home attendance. Was at 38,000 in 2015 and was down to 25,000 in 2019. Not sure how much we can take this season, but they are down to an average of below 24,000 this year. https://www.ncaa.org/championships/statistics/ncaa-football-attendance Only Washington State has home attendance average that low. B1G TEN and SEC will always be the top 2. Their fans and school alumni base are huge. ACC, Big 12 and Pac 12 will jockey for 3rd. I have a feeling the Pac 12 will actually be consistently #3 after Texas and Oklahoma leave the Big 12. What each team was paid in 2020. 1. Big Ten: $54.3 million2. SEC: $45.5 million3. Big 12: ~$38 million4. Pac-12: $33.6 million5. ACC: ~$33 million The ACC locked into a 20 year deal in 2016 for 4.8 billion. That is an average of 240 mil per year. The Pac 12 signed their old contract for 12 years for 3 billion, which is 250 mil per year. The Big 12's current contract pays 200 mil a year. From a recruiting stand point, it would be nice, but not sure how much more we can ask for when these are our last 5 recruiting class rankings according to Rivals. 2021 #3 2020 #9 2019 #7 2018 #13 2017 #18
  3. It looked like Moorehead was in charge of the offense against UCLA. If we can keep it that way, I'm cautiously optimistic we will win out.
  4. Definitely need more information. Saying a person needs to reduce their body fat percentage from 16 to 13 is curious. If you are under 20, you are in fantastic shape. Every body is different, so trying to get somebody down another 3% might not be possible.
  5. I have been a season ticket holder for the Ducks for 15 years. This wasn't the first time the home fans booed the home team. It won't be the last time. However, it isn't a habit by the home fans by any means. I lived in Philadelphia and I have friends who still live there. You want to talk about a tough home crowd, watch a season of their games. Really, watch a season of any east coast professional team that isn't doing well. There used to be a saying, you can't boo college athletes because they are not paid professionals. Well, that is no longer the case. They might not be deemed professionals, but they certainly are getting paid. Booing isn't classless or poor sportsmanship. It is part of the game. It is up to each individual person on whether they choose to boo or cheer. I'm not sure if the home fans will boo Mario again this season, but I'm leaning towards no.
  6. Best or 2nd best game by AB. Depends on what you think when he played vs tOSU. It is nice to see a willingness to do something different on offense. Both INTs were terrible decisions. Keep up with the differing offensive scheme and I like our chances to win out. Still playing down to competition, but that is MC shtick.
  7. ESPN GameDay will be at the Rose Bowl. The Ducks are 15-11 for these games and are 2-1 against UCLA for these games. Hopefully, the Ducks keep a winning record vs UCLA on GameDays.
  8. Oklahoma fans don't complain about being beaten up continually in the playoffs. It isn't like professional sports where you have a worse draft pick. Making the playoffs will help with recruiting. Unless, the Ducks play like they did in Columbus, they will lose in the playoffs. However, the Ducks have shown what they can do, so there is always that glimmer of hope.
  9. As I was watching college football on Saturday, I noticed quite a few short yardage situations, where the pistol plunge worked for other colleges. However, that was their mix it up running play, instead of being the 10th time the team ran the play that day. The sign of insanity is to do the same thing over and over and expect a different result. The best offensive game call this year was at Ohio State. The Ducks running plays were extremely varied that day. As has been said multiple times, do something the defense is expecting. That is playing smarter.
  10. I know the SEC have the most players drafted in the NFL, but I'd like to see the percentage of players per conference who are there for a second contract. I think the SEC is a very good conference, but I don't think they are much better than every other conference. They do a much better job of having a pecking order. They don't eat each other up in conference play. They usually have 1-3 being that much better than everybody else and not losing to teams they shouldn't lose to.
  11. We are all used to the Ducks finding the banana peel. Texas A&M beat Alabama 41-38, but only beat Colorado 10-7? College kids are inconsistent is what it says.
  12. Sad days. I didn't even think of that. If Stanford wins out, they win the North. Even if the Ducks were to win out, they wouldn't be conference champions if Stanford doesn't lose another game. I guess we could get the whole tOSU vs Penn St. debate of 2016, but the Pac 12 would have to have a solid pecking order of good teams vs bad teams.
  13. Jonathan Smith is 13-23, 9-18 in the Pac 12, as a head coach for the Beavers. Not exactly a reason to hitch your wagon to the hype train he is getting. 4-1 is a great start, but let's see if he can have a winning season first, then back to back winning seasons. Mario is 29-11, 17-8 as the Oregon head coach. He has back to back Pac 12 championships and 1 Rose Bowl win. I'm absolutely not 100% happy with Mario, but as many bells and whistles Oregon has, it is still a very hard place to attract the top coaches. Any established coach at a top football program isn't going to come to Oregon. We'd need to find another Chip Kelly that is not established.
  14. I'm of the philosphy of never leave points in the first half or go chasing points in the first half. Ducks needed to kick the FG just before half time. I understand it is the butterfly effect of, if they kick that FG, the game changes. However, I assume the rest of the game essentially plays out the same because it was so close to the end of the 1st half. Tons of could have, would have, should have in the 4th quarter for the Ducks.
  15. I think the Oregon women will win their 1st game, but lose in the 2nd round. The guys got a tough draw with their likely 2nd round opponent in Iowa. The Ducks have nobody who will be able to guard Garza.
  16. It is all about the money. The conference tournament is an easy way for conferences to make even more money. I think it is a bit silly for .500 or below to win their conference bid, but those are the rules. We love Cinderella runs, but in the end it doesn't matter. Villanova in 1985 was the lowest seed ever to win the tournament as the 8 seed. They were in a stacked Big East back then and were ranked in the top 20 for most of the season. All it does is bump out another medicore team.
  17. I don't have a problem with schools saying other in-conference schools are not an option for transfers, unless they are in the kids home state. A kids home state schools, should never be allowed to be blocked. I understand these are 18-20 year old kids and they make mistakes in choosing which school to go to. However, there are 125-130 Division 1 football schools. Reducing the option by 10-14 schools isn't a huge burden to the kids.
  18. Two different sites giving different players the same award. Happens all the time. AP gave it Duarte, Pac 12 gave it to Mobley. I find it odd another site is handing out conference awards, but OK.
  19. I think the pollsters don't like the close game wins. Looking really bad against USC didn't help. Win their 1st game in the P12 and they don't fall below a 6 seed. Win the P12 tournament and I believe they could move up to a 4 seed. As it has been said before regular season basketball rankings mean very little. It is nice to be recognized, but meaningless when we get down to it. With the way the guys are playing, sweet 16 seems like the floor.
  20. I'm not sure Kiper or McShay do "true" analysis of players, even though they say so. They are talking heads there to sell headlines and content. How serious can you really take McShay when he has the first 4 picks being QBs this year? They are knowledgeable for sure, but true scouts they are not. Their draft order also, isn't based on skill, but what they think the teams will do. However, they love to create discussion. McShay has the Eagles taking a TE with their pick and prefaces it with, Despite the Eagles' glaring weakness at wide receiver, I'm mixing it up with Pitts at No. 6. How much more obvious can they make it, they just throw stuff at the wall and don't care if it sticks or not?
  21. There is always a 1st time, but no team has made the playoffs with 2 losses. That is a ton of chaos if multiple teams are being looked at for the playoffs with 2 losses. In 2016 Penn St. won the B1G TEN with 2 losses and didn't get in. They beat tOSU, but since tOSU only had 1 loss, they got in over Penn St. The committee says they look at everything, but in reality it is the number of losses they look at first for Power 5 teams. If you have zero, you are in. If you have 1 loss and there aren't 4 teams with 0 losses, you get a look. If you have 2 losses, there can't be 4 teams with 0 or 1 loss from a Power 5 conference.
  22. I know Toronto has tried, but man I wish Chris could put on more weight. I hope he can withstand the vigors of NBA ball at that weight.
  23. He seems quick and shifty like DAT. Move the kid around. Have him play RB and WR.
  24. I went to North Eugene high school. My graduating class had under 200 students. North Eugene is the smallest high school in Eugene after Marist, which is a private school. Sheldon and South Eugene are the biggest and both sit around 2000 students 9-12. I couldn't imagine my class having 1500 students.
  25. I understand all the praise. If I remember correctly, Penei had the best football season ever by a Offensive Lineman. The kid has allowed zero sacks, that is amazing.
