  1. Difference perspective...Are you in it for the money or experience? I am far from rich (tier 2 PERs) and I would think about doing it for the experience and maybe not even charge them. You would have to do some research, maybe contact OSU about the offer and they might set you up with some good people. It's only a couple days and you might meet some great people who would reciprocate. You also might want to create a liability contract with them to protect yourself. I know many people will think this is stupid, the lawyers in the group will tell you about all the potential issues. Just my 2 cents...
  2. Very good piece! While reading it, a thought occurred to me-Maybe to much talent? You mentioned 10 names that left and played well, not all of them would have played much if they all had stayed. I am on the fence about Graves...but I am not on the fence about Campbell. I think he could be great at Oregon. How much loyalty do you show a coach (Graves) who brought so much success to Oregon? Give him another year? Could we pry Campbell away from TCU? The way the team finished was very disappointing and is it a sign of a big issue that us outsiders cannot see? Would a great coach let his team quit the way they did? If Mullens was going to make a move you would think he would have done it by now. That's my 2-cents and you might have over paid me!
  3. I think they need to go in a different direction...Mark Campbell. He is connected to Oregon's best teams and done a good job at TCU till injuries devastated the team. Sabrina said he was the reason she came to Oregon to begin with.
  4. At least DeBoer hasn't spent hours in a strip club like the last Washingtonian hired by Alabama to coach!
  5. The only thing better would be a recording of this conversation "Hey Dan, its Greg Byrne from Alabama. We would love to fly you out and talk about our opening for head football coach." "Hey Greg, thanks for the call I really appreciate it. But to be honest I am where I want to be, I made a promise and I am keeping it!"
  6. I don’t think it’s a fine line…very thick line of offensive ineptitude
  7. Didn’t Tony Hargain have to play quarterback years ago for Oregon? He was better than this kid, barely and he was a receiver.
  8. No, the 2nd example is not a reach. Its an example of solving 1 issue at a time and not getting overwhelmed with the big picture. No again, Nick Saban would not have done this....he has one person on his staff who only job is to fix shoes! He is that organized!
  9. I was watching a game a few weeks ago and it hit me where Chip should coach at; one of the academy’s. Totally different type of recruiting, disciplined players and can install his unique offense. i think he could do well there.
  10. It’s from a funny commercial. The head coach benches a kid but gives him chips & avocados and the player is fine with it.
  11. Thanks for that information, I want to state up front that I hope I am dead wrong about this. Looking at the list, Oregon and Notre Dame are the only schools that fan population is much higher then their state population. This would mean that many of these fans are not local which could imply they are not as connected to the team as home grown fans. In Notre Dames case they have an advantage because of their religious affiliation which could create a more loyal base. I would bet that most of the non local fans are really only football fans of Oregon not Oregon Duck fans like everyone on this board. Many of the non local fans fell in love with Chip Kelly's offense and cool Uniforms. I am concerned that these types of fan might be fickle and jump off the band wagon a lost faster then most of the fans from the other schools on this list. But like I stated before, I hope Fishduck is correct and I am shown in the future to be a total idiot! Go Ducks!
  12. I wonder how this forum will look in 10 years when the "Football Powers that Be" want a 16 team super conference? If is all based on revenue.... They look and see that Oregon is not in the top 20 markets in the country and they have this little 54,000 seat stadium. They do not have or ever will have the rabid fan base that the SEC and a number of the other top schools have. (Maybe because we have lives ) We do not pack the stadium (54,000 approx) for our cupcakes but Auburn got 87,000 for UMass. In 2022 Oregon was 19th in Revenue, we would be left out in the cold. "First they came for the Communist" "I did not speak out"..... Just food for thought
  13. Question, can/will the players who entered the portal play in the bowl game? I believe just because you entered it does not force you to leave.
  14. Hopefully the team is to focused on preparation to even see this.
  15. None of this should be made public till a team is done playing. If TT has to play because of an injury his motivation may not be very high. Or could it be higher? Auditioning for another school might be a motivation to look as good as possible. I believe Ward would only have 1 year to play, is that correct? Remember the difference for Year 1 Bo and Year 2 Bo. I would figure that Ward would not be as good as Bo was in year 1 so maybe TT can beat him out.
  16. Sorry, I almost got sick when the the AD of Georgia said that the SEC title game is special, the Rose Bowl game between Pac 12 & Big 10 that was special. But they got rid of that for the CFP. If you do not get rid of Championship games its going to cause problems. With these big leagues and no divisions you are potentially going to have 3 and 4 teams tie for 1st or 2nd, try figuring those tie breakers out! Then if you lose your leagues championship game the teams you were tied with, who did not make the game, move ahead of you and you miss out on the playoffs. Not only that, if you make the CFP but do not play in the championship game you have a week off to get healthier. Do you not think that Washington wishes we did not have a championship game? In 20 years we will have six-12 team leagues with 2 division each for easy selection. Just my thoughts
  17. He probably deserves the "Promoter of the Year", no college football coach did it better then Sanders.
  18. I will admit I am a little nervous about this game but are we not all nervous for any game? (except Hawaii & PSU) I got even more nervous after I rewatched the UW/UO game last night. We did not look really good at times, especially in the first half. was it UW defense? It seemed at times that they knew the play we were running and stuffed it. The one thing I did notice, that even before we started hitting Penix (we hardly touched him in the first half) that if guys got close to him he usually made a bad throw. They put up a stat that at one time he was 0-4 when pressured in the first half. This tells me the key to the game is to put pressure on him. If this happens we win and maybe by 2+ scores.
  19. I would be curious to see what each players stats are for the first half and thru the 3rd quarter. Hopefully Heisman voters look at the Georgia state game and see that JD was still throwing (4 out of 5 plays) in the middle of the 4th quarter when they were up 49-14 to get him another TD. Bo would have been out of the game by the 4th quarter if not sooner.
  20. I think what they are saying that we probably would have beaten UW if Lanning was suspended like Harbaugh. Nothing about going to another school.
  21. I was also at that game till the end. As I recall the last play of the game Oregon ran a hook & lateral and got ran out at about the 13 yard line as time expired. We've "come a long way baby!" (showing my age reference there)
  22. Some of us still feel the effects of a 11-1 Nebraska team being chosen for the championship game in 2001 over an 11-1 Oregon team. That Nebraska team lost by 26 in their final game of the year, Oregon's only lose was by 7 points in the middle of the year to the 14th ranked WSU team. Needless to say Oregon went on to destroy the team that beat Nebraska in the bowl game and Nebraska got crushed by Miami in the championship game. One of the biggest miscarriage of NCAA selection committee at the time, so not matter if Oregon wins out I will not feel comfortable till I see Oregon name in the final 4!
  23. What if, heaven forbid, WSU beats the Huskies? You can not put Oregon over UW because of head to head but would they move Texas and/or Alabama over UW and us? A bottom dweller beating the top team might show the PAC not as strong as people have thought and UW not as good as they thought. It would take a little luster off a win over them in the Championship game. So if they did move Texas over UW and we both win our conference championship then how can they move Oregon back over Texas? This think would the nightmare scenario in which Oregon wins out but still does not get in. Thoughts?
  24. I been going through scenarios that puts both Oregon and Washington in the CFP. There is an outside shot for that to happen, Okst beating Texas (Or Texas Tech), OSU crushing Michigan, FSU losing and Georgia beating Alabama, but not likely. I originally thought how cool it would be if the Pac-12 had 2 team in the playoffs. Then I realized, it doesn't matter, Pac-12 is done, so why care about how good the league looks for next year. So I hope we crush UW (after we beat the Beavers) so that no way they get in. We would ruin their last chance for many years to get to the CFP and then they fall to the level of the Minnesota's and Indiana's of the Big 10. How sweet that sounds!
