The potential problem with a Feb 1st portal date are players who want to enroll in January at their new school. I cannot see any easy answer to the portal issue or the problems with players not playing in a bowl game.

With bile in my mouth I have to say Travis Hunter is the best player in college football (IMHO). Not a fan of the hype machine but Oregon did similar stuff with Joey, Marcus and Bo. My only complaint is that his stats are a little padded. Sanders threw a TD pass to Travis with 2 minutes to go in the Oklahoma state game when they were up 45-0. How would we feel if Hunter played for OBD and went both ways?

The committee got it both right and wrong in regards to SMU/Alabama. They didn't punish SMU for playing in a conference championship game, that is the committee getting it right. Getting it wrong in regards to Alabama is that does anyone really believe (take our hate of the SEC/Alabama out of the picture) that Alabama wouldn't beat SMU 9 out of 10 times?

Oh how lucky we have been! I cannot remember what message board, but there was a lot of negative talk when we hired Dana Altman. People moaned about not being able to get a big name to come here coach the BB team. So we get a guy from Creighton! Well I believe that turned out pretty good. Then we get some assistant coach for the football team. Why cant we get a big name; Brian Kelly, one of the Stoops or an Urban Meyer. Well maybe we should stick with nobodies!

Not sure if he is heavy enough for what we need. At 6'7'' & 237, that is pretty slight compared to Herbert & Ferguson at 6'5" 255. He would probably have to be used like Sadiq but I doubt very much he has Sadiq's skill set. I believe we need a TE who can block on the line and also catch passes. We have a couple Freshman, but will they be ready. Brashear is 6'4' 265 but I dont know if he has even played this year. There is a kid from Kentucky, Khamari Anderson, 6'5" 250. He caught 5 passes this year, all their TE combined caught less then 20 passes so TE is not a weapon for them. But like we say, in Dan we trust!

Great Analysis, now lets go a step further. Penn St now knows this, how do they counter? Do they crash Carter focusing on Gabriel and make him hand the ball off to soon? It's a timing play and if he hands the ball to early the OL does not have time to get in front so he has to wait which might give Carter a chance to catch him. This is way defensive speed can be so critical We all assume that Lanning/Stein are already looking at a new wrinkle to counter a different defensive reaction because they know Penn St is scheming to stop this type of play. Defense vs Offense is a cat and mouse game, lets hope "Jerry" stays one step a head of "Tom"! (and old cartoon reference that many of you will know)

AJ Feeley was Joey Harrington's backup in college and he played 10 years in the NFL, Joey only about 6. The NFL sees talent, even if they don't play a lot.

Rece Davis was really terrible about asking questions about Championship weekend and how that would impact teams. He should have asked about Clemson/SMU & BSU/UNLV. The Committee said that they would not punish a team for playing in a championship game but they will. Currently Boise State is 10th and SMU is 8th, if they both lose their Championship game they should still be in (They said they wouldn't punish teams) and Clemson and UNLV would also be in. That would mean Alabama and Indiana would be out. Will they have the guts to do what they said or be too afraid of a SEC backlash?

2 of Bama's loses came to teams that become bowl eligible only because they beat Bama, 6-6 Vandy & 6-6 Oklahoma. I believe USC should get in before Alabama. USC has won 6 in a row and 3 of them were against ranked teams. Alabama has gone 4-2 in the last 6 and got smoked by an average Oklahoma team. USC is playing much better then Alabama right now. I know Alabama beat them earlier in the season but there has to be more criteria then that. But because the committee does not have any specific standards they can fudge. They will pick Alabama because of their name, not because they are better. I hope this is not true.

Regret it? This is why they choose them! Its like allowing the rich kid on the team even though they are a terrible athlete. The league will benefit from the Seattle market more then they will lose due to their athletic mediocracy The Big10 will also gain from the heated Oregon/Washington rivalry, those games will be better for TV then Washington/Minnesota game. Then in about 5 years when the Huskies have fallen to Beaver status (not really competitive with us) and Bucky (tOSU) has become our new heated rivalry you have a team that you can match up with Northwestern. They could call it the Purple Bowl and the winner gets the Eggplant trophy.

My hate goes back to the 80's when they used to show up in their purple shirts and gold hard hats! Made me sick!

I just tried this and it was crazy how much the bracket made sense when I was done. Everyone should try this, very interesting. Currently 2nd and 3rd seed have a much better draw then #1 Oregon.

The best way to do it would be to place seeds 9-12 into the bracket, then let 5th seed pick who they want to play, then 6th seed pick etc. When that is done let the 1st seed pick where they want to go, then 2nd seed etc. This way teams/fans would not complain about the bracket because they (teams) created it. This will never happen because then playoff committee would only rank the teams and that does not create as much controversy.

I just remember that Oregon, under Altman, has always struggled early in the year. They keep getting better and peak at the end of the year. I used to get frustrated by it not any more, it has happened so often.

Stupid factoid of the day-On November 19th 2010 the Oregon Football team and men's basketball team were a combined 13-0. After last nights basketball game they are combined 13-0. How far do you think they can go until they get their first loss? I feel at least 16-0 till the basketball team meets a good A&M Team, but its at home so maybe.... I wonder which schools teams went the farthest with out a loss? Just something to ponder...

A couple questions; would said quarterback be allowed to go into the portal at some time? Would a coach be pressured to play a high paid kid? If they sign a 5 year deal would they have to stay at that school for the whole contract or be allowed to go into the draft? Do they sign sign multi year deals? All these questions and many more will need to be addressed or I see the system becoming more broken then it already is.

My question is, why have DG in the game at the end? We have guys that need experience and he was just handing off. One OL guy misses a block and blows up the hand off and hurts DG we are in big trouble. Am I wrong to think this way?
