Home Playoff Game Will Be Without Student Section
spartan2785 replied to DrJacksPlaidPants's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I hope the students that are staying in town have a way of getting tickets at a reduced rate, it would really suck if the university just says to them "oh well, sucks to be you" -
Oh Goody! We Could Play Penn State and Ohio State TWICE!
spartan2785 replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Funny thing about SMU is that they are basically getting nothing in terms of money from the ACC, they bet on themselves that they would step up and succeed, and by gawd they've done that this season. I think it's sort of Ironic that during this year where we truly see the new world of college football with NIL and conferences being upturned it's SMU the one program that got the death penalty coming back to prominence. I can only imagine how much their oil baron boosters are loving this. -
I really like that. I have to say I don't really want college football to become a place where this sort of thing doesn't happen. Of course I want Oregon to get as many great players as they can, but it's nice to know that for some guys staying home and playing for the hometown team still means something.

Pretty amazing that according to 24/7 we have the highest average ranking in the country just above Texas. We don't have as many recruits, but it's a pretty incredible haul, we didn't really lose many guys, and we picked up a ton as it went along. One guy that I think isn't getting talked about as much as he should is Jordan Davidson, it's been a while since we picked up a high school RB with his size. James and Bucky have been really tough runners, so it isn't like we've been soft there, but there is something to having 220+ slamming into a defense over and over again. I remember with Stewart and Freeman just how beat up the opposing team would be at the end of the game.

Bama lost by 21 to a bad Oklahoma team, that right there excludes them from any playoff discussion, you can not lose by that much to a 6-6 team. At the very least I think Ole Miss is more deserving than Bama, they beat Georgia and SC decisively, and while they do have a loss to Kentucky, none of their losses were by 3 TDs! -

You have to remember if we do beat Penn St. on Saturday, they will most likely fall out of the #5 slot, who is put in there depends on who wins in the other various games. I really wouldn't complain until we see the entire bracket. The biggest thing I find outrageous is Bama in the playoff, they have no business being there, Ole Miss and Miami are more deserving, no team that lost to Vandy and got destroyed by a bad OU team has any business being in the playoff. At least Miami's losses were close, I'm not one to defend Miami, but I really don't think we should be rewarding programs for having 3 losses of which two are to really mediocre teams. -
Looking back on the game, we got a bit lucky that Mark Sears who is a great scoring guard had an awful shooting night, I think he went something like 1-11 from three. Not saying we weren't deserving, just that we survived a bad shooting night by Bama who is typically a very good shooting team. Our average will go up, but we need to get some guys going, Barthelemey is the only guy who seems to be getting off to a good start shooting the 3. Really need Shelstad to start being more consistent with his shot.

Yeah, but it's pretty rare to see a team jump into the top ten after not being ranked, I think we're a top 15 team, I just don't think we'll be ranked there. Also ranking don't come out until Monday I believe. GoDucks.com have Bama as #9 which they are currently.
-
Well, we tried to screw that up, but we did enough, Bittle with the huge put back dunk. Then Bama is just a half second late with their attempt that was good. Huge win, we should be in ranked around 20-15, really I think we look like a top 15 squad right now. We beat two top 20 squads, SDSU just beat Houston, A&M beat Rutgers, so we everyone we beat then went on to win the rest of their games this week.
-
Ugh, can't let them take an open three like that!!! Come on Ducks, finish this!
-
Barthelemey with the big time teardrop! Up by 4 now. Keeshawn is probably our best bench player in a long while, seems to always come up huge, could have used him last year in the tournament!
-
58 seconds, Ducks have the ball up by 2, surprised we got the call on that goaltend.
-
Had them where we wanted them, then we just stop playing defense and letting them shoot open threes, got to lock down on defense better.
-
See below... ------------------------------------------- Ducks up by 4 in the 2nd half, 16 minutes to go. Huge game for basketball to really make a statement.

I don't think you do, you still have the playoffs, if they end up out of the playoffs then you might pull the trigger, but I think you have to wait to see if they're in it. I don't think the players would respond well if you fired him right now. If he end up in the championship game, or wins the whole thing then he's redeemed himself, if he doesn't then you can show him the door immediately and get the search going in earnest.

WSJ on Dillon Brooks "NBA's Most Hated Man"
spartan2785 replied to Santa Rosa Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Don't really consider Bol a Duck, he was around for 4 games then got injured and basically quit on the team saying he wouldn't even try to come back during the season -
He was a decent QB at South Eugene

Ducks Climb to 7-0, Beat San Diego State 78-68
spartan2785 replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Angel maybe has a shot as a NBA bench guy, he does have an elite talent as a shooter, that will give him a shot, he just isn't much of an athlete, and his rebounding is very poor for a guy as tall as he is, really like him as a stretch 4 for us. Shelstad does have a chance, he is about as big as Pritchard is, maybe an inch shorter. I think he's more advanced than Peyton was, he certainly has more confidence than Pritchard had during his sophomore year. Bamba might be a guy who is a 2nd rounder who fights his way into a bench spot. I'm most interested to see who we go to when we absolutely need a bucket late in the game. If I had to guess Bamba probably is the guy who can create his shot the best. I feel pretty comfortable with both our guards handling the ball late in the game. Saturday will be a great opportunity to see where we are as a team, if we play Bama we'll be playing a top 10 team, if we play Rutgers we'll be facing two guys who are top 5 draft picks. -

Just have to stay healthy, it's pretty evident that if Dana can keep a squad healthy he'll have a squad that will challenge for championships. This squad is so so deep with guys that can contribute, it's such a balanced squad. Bittle, Bamba, Shelstad, Cook, Tracey, Angel, and Evans are all capable of scoring 15+. Good defenders at each position, athleticism, BBIQ, experienced. I haven't even mentioned Mookie Cook or Moss. Mookie is a former 5 star talent and Moss is a former all-MAC contributor who scored 15+ last season. Truly believe we can win the B1G and be a 1-4 seed in March. We beat whoever we play on Saturday and we should be around the 20-17 mark in the rankings. The one thing I think we lack is a player who would be considered a first round talent. I don't know if we have that sort of player, we have a lot of guys who are going to make a living in Europe, but I don't know if we have many who are going to be contributors on a NBA roster. If I had to guess Bittle might be that guy. Shelstad has a shot but he'll probably need the next two years to transform fully into Pritchard. -
Playoff Predictions: Nobody Notes B1G Getting Hosed...
spartan2785 replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
While it would have been nice if this was foreseen when the conferences were putting this thing together, I don't think there is any conspiracy or bias against Oregon/B1G, I would hope the format is changed next year with the reseeding idea put forward by Klatt, that seems like the best solution. -
Oregon Mens Basketball 6-0, Beating No. 20 Texas A&M 80-70!
spartan2785 replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Great win, we aren't even playing that well, gave up a ton of offensive boards, everyone on the team other than Barthelemy is shooting under their usual percentages, this team can get a lot better if they begin shooting like they are capable of. Dana is right about the offense, if we take it to the rim we will become a very efficient attack. I really believe they have the potential to be Dana's best team in a while. -
Sucks nobody is going to watch since nobody is going to pay for whatever BallerTV is. I hate when you have these obscure sites getting college games and then asking you to pay $20 to watch the one game you'll ever watch on the site.
-
It's pretty ridiculous that Ohio St. and Michigan have those veto powers, I would hope with the new deal whenever it is, that the conference just tells them all to suck it up and get in line, I mean what are those two going to do???? Leave! There's nowhere to go to. It helps brands to be on at different times..

Oregon Comes Back from Down 12 to Beat Oregon State 78-75
spartan2785 replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yeah, I have a feeling it's going to be very pretty rough experience at times. B1G has a rep for having officials that let a lot go. I know we sort of thought we would have the same experience in football, but I have a feeling it might turn out to be more true in basketball, don't have any proof, just my feeling on the matter. I think the Beavs will be decent, WCC is a very good mid major conference, could see them just below Gonzaga and St. Mary's. I actually think they might have fun in that conference. Oregon has the tools to be good, they shot better than what it felt like, a lot of that came from the shooting late in the game from Shelstad. Need Bamba to get going with his shot, this team really does have the potential to be a good offensive team, they have a lot of weapons. I think we can play in multiple ways as well. Bittle looks like he can be that post presence. Shelstad can be a very good PG, Bamba has a history of being a good shooter, Angel is a nice stretch 4. We can play inside and out, Barthelemey can be a microwave off the bench, it's still an exciting team I think.
