I understand, trying to create a new tradition like other teams have for turnovers, but doesn’t this one seem kind of lame?

Only if the player generating the T/O has to compete without one shoe... 

After a big play they sign a shoe designed for this purpose, then pose with a Duck Scepter. At the end of year they auction the signed shoe off for charity. Why not, Seems fine to me. 
 

I suppose if there were only one shoe to auction off this year, then that would be really lame.

Oregon unveiled a new sideline tradition this past weekend. When a player makes a big play, a sneaker mounted on a metal pole is presented for ensuing celebrations.

I think it fun, creative and so ething kids will love. Pays homage to PK and Nike. Sure beats a FisherPrice chain saw.

Feeling like a heel, but my sole just doesn't like it. Your fault John!

I'm okay with it.  The guys like it and in the end it's for charity so that's a good thing IMO.

A bit. But each player hoisting the "scepter" signs the Nike shoe and eventually it'll be sold for charity.  So I hear.
