This one is not quite as solidified to exact wording, but it goes something like this when already wealthy athletes discuss holding out or wanting new, more lucrative contracts: "Just trying to feed my family" "Want to make sure me and my family survive" "Want to secure my family's future" If you you can barely "survive" on $1M annual salaries, I've got a Financial Planning 101 course to sell you. There was a time when this one would drive me crazy! I mean I understand why this broad of an answer is used, but seriously, does the young man have a mild case of dehydration, perhaps a slight cramp or has he sustained a severe level 4 concussion that could lead to brain damage? Is he going to possibly miss a game rep or two or should I be praying for his friends and family? Obviously I’m kidding a bit, but this type of response used to really get under my skin. I follow the 49ers, and after Brandon Aiyuk signed his massive contract, an article said: ”Aiyuk’s financial future is now secure.” The $12.5 million he earned over the last 4 years just wasn’t security enough . . .
