Posted November 10, 2024Nov 10 Moderator Here we are my Duck-Buddies, the thread for pondering the actual game as it happens. Let's discuss before, and during the game! The vast majority of you are GREAT in this thread, but you must remember that this forum is different, as we require civilized discourse. Discussion of negative is fine, but don't vent on us! Rule No. 31d covers GameDay Thread Conduct, and it is not hard for the vast majority of us--just a tiny few who need to reign it in when things don't go well for Our Beloved Ducks. Let's Have Fun Posting During the Game!
November 10, 2024Nov 10 Author Moderator A really silly penalty by Daylen Austin on special teams. That FG Maryland got is on him.
November 10, 2024Nov 10 Author Moderator Look for Evan Stewart and the TEs to get more catching opportunities this game.
November 10, 2024Nov 10 Author Moderator That's not a great start, two consecutive dropped passes and a bad punt.
November 10, 2024Nov 10 Author Moderator Feels like OBD took this game for granted. Hope DL throw a cold bucket of water on them to wake them up.
November 10, 2024Nov 10 Ducks definitely off this game. So much for my hope for breaking 40 this week.
November 10, 2024Nov 10 yes, considering they are outgaining us with more first downs and we ave rush 2 yd. glad we are ahead. hopefully we wake up. it is one of those day s out there
November 10, 2024Nov 10 These refs are flag happy. A lot of these wouldn't have been called in previous games. Not saying they're not fouls... But consistent refing in the conference for sure.

November 10, 2024Nov 10 Not a single explosive play on offense this half. Penalties causing points. Somebody's looking ahead to next week.
November 10, 2024Nov 10 Maryland came to play and we didn't. Dan Lanning looks like he is coaching practice. Are the fans even loud?

November 10, 2024Nov 10 I feel this is somewhat expected. Oregon is not going to be up for every game, and Maryland had a week off with a different offense than what we are used to. Our guys are playing hard, and I am hoping for the good third quarter we have looked for. That last drive looked good, and Fergasons foot was very close if not out. If things break normally the rest of the game we will still win.
November 10, 2024Nov 10 Not a good 3rd Quarter start. Starting to wonder how good our coaches really are at making Halftime adjustments and the play calling here is starting to feel suspect. But what do I know I don't make 9 million dollars a year
November 10, 2024Nov 10 I would not expect less from Lanning. Just a great drive and play calling for the Ducks. Maryland is playing excellent defense. I think that was a tackle eligible play

Similar to how they used Casey Matthews a couple seasons ago against UCLA. I’m not sure who caught the TD though. *edit* Might have been Gernorris Wilson

November 10, 2024Nov 10 Yes it is. Let's just get this game over with no more injuries... The oomph is not there today...
November 10, 2024Nov 10 Author Moderator They look very unfocused, particularly the offense and the secondary…almost lackadaisical even. Could we be seeing mental fatigue after so many games without a bye week?
November 10, 2024Nov 10 Moderator The injuries from last week are proving costly. Also, the arrogance with the “thumbs down” attitude is rearing its ugly head. This type of play has been happening all day. Bad Karma is real.
November 10, 2024Nov 10 The ad I just saw on here was for toilet cleaners... Sorta like some of the play on this game. Oh, look... Finally, some decent running plays!
November 10, 2024Nov 10 Seems like Brandon Johnson is consistently giving up critical completions and committing really in opportune penalties. Not just this game but all season long. The last MD drive was a great example. Gave up a completion for a first down on a 4th and 2. Three plays later he’s flagged for PI on 3rd and goal. Next play he gives up a touchdown while in coverage. I get he had the scoop and score, but from a coverage standpoint, he’s definitely the weak link in the secondary. Are they really that thin at corner?
November 10, 2024Nov 10 Moderator Maryland is going to win this game. I saw this exact thing happen 2 weeks ago to a top ranked NCAA Division II team. The offense became undisciplined and the defense got tired. This might be what Oregon needs. Edit: I was writing this before the interception, but it’s still only a two score game. What a missed opportunity.
November 10, 2024Nov 10 Lanning is definitely resting players at this point. But I don't feel this game has been put away enough to warrant it.
November 10, 2024Nov 10 Good grief, it looked like the previous hand off should have gone to the left... Easy to see from the couch!
November 10, 2024Nov 10 Moderator What happened to Jordan James? I was flipping back and forth to the Boise State game.
November 10, 2024Nov 10 All I gotta say is that elite teams win games when they play poorly. Georgia didn't, Miami didn't, Oregon did. It was ugly at too many points but it's gonna be a W

November 10, 2024Nov 10 Wisconsin will also be coming off a bye. Maryland's head coach said he had his team start practicing defensively for Oregon during the bye week....essentially two weeks of practices for one opponent.
November 10, 2024Nov 10 By the way, all of Oregon's last four opponents will have had a bye week prior to the game: Michigan Maryland Wisconsin Washington The Ducks also have a bye week prior to playing Washington.

Feels like the B10 did that on purpose.
