NJDuck Moderator No. 1 Share Posted Monday at 08:02 PM The Oregon Ducks got the best of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Caleb Downs on Oct. 12. Nick Saban, who coached Downs at Alabama, revealed that the Buckeyes star safety felt less prepared for the Ducks after a relatively light non-conference schedule. Haywarduck Moderator No. 4 Share Posted Monday at 11:16 PM They had a plan and will have a plan next time. There is a difference between having a plan and being prepared, and playing tough games isn't required. Being prepared is what Lanning does for his team. Having a plan is what Day does for his team. When things happen, in a tough game, you have to be prepared, not just have a plan. In a game you have to be ready to adjust, shift, have culture set, established and be ready for anything. It might not make the most sense, but that is the difference between Lanning and Day. Oh, and Saban had his players prepared to play against anybody. Sometimes that isn't enough when the other team is prepared too, but most of the time being prepared is what it takes. My bet, tosu will have a plan next time, and think they are prepared. They will find out again they weren't prepared, nor did their plan work! Even against Indy it took mistakes to get them the win. They weren't prepared for what Indy brought. Day deserves to be on the hot seat, even at #2 and at 10-1. With all that talent they should be untouchable. In the coming years Lanning will have that talent level and more, he will be untouchable! 1 2 1
30Duck No. 5 Share Posted Monday at 11:20 PM Ohio State thought that how they had played against Akron, Western Michigan, Michigan State had them prepared to play Oregon at Autzen. Nope. Now, give Cowherd and Klatt credit, they said that tOSU would beat Oregon in the CCG before Ohio State played Indiana. Extrapolating what the Buckeyes did to Indiana to how they'll do against Oregon is done at your risk.

Nevada Dawg No. 9 Share Posted 13 hours ago Let me state up front that I'm behind the Ducks 110% in the upcoming B1G Championship Game. But I won't be surprised if OSU wins this game. In fact, I predicted such a reversal earlier in the year. Here's why. Oregon has not played a truly good team away from Autzen this year and it is not crystal clear how they will handle adversity away from home. I'm certainly not expecting them to fold, only that we can't know for certain how they will respond to a situation they are yet to face this year. Sorry to be a bit of a cautionary Cus at this time of rejoicing among festive OBD fans, but just thought I should point out something that is very uncertain as far as I am concerned. And even were the Ducks to lose, they'd still be the number 5 seed, a position that many analysts say is just about as good as having a bye in the format we will be playing under for this and next season until adjustments are made. Imagine some poor 12 seed having to play in a wild playoff atmosphere at Autzen!
Mike West No. 10 Share Posted 8 hours ago To echo Nevada Dog, I agree. We had two opportunities to pull away from the Buckeyes each half and failed. They blew their chance late. The teams are too even to think either can take two in a row, much less three. I've said it before, I'll say it again. It's damn difficult to go 16-0. A loss might hurt in the next two weeks, but it won't be fatal. By the way, the odds are some 290 to one going 16-0. 8 to one to defeat a team three times in the same season. So... If we defeat the in Indianapolis, it better be convincing, because otherwise we ALL with loathe that third matchup( we will anyway, no matter what). I personally think it's possible to truly dominate the Ohio State, but talk about playing a flawless game! Absolutely everything would have to go out way. I want that conference title. But I won't be disappointed with a loss next week. Because I don't think they can beat us twice.

Utki No. 13 Share Posted 1 hour ago No idea if that is true or not but I would be surprised if we beat tOSU two times in a row. So for me getting the 5th seed would actually be better.
HDuck No. 14 Share Posted 1 hour ago Until such time as the bracket is re-seeded after each round it will often be that a No. 5 would be preferable over a No. 1 seed.
Duckman60 No. 15 Share Posted 1 hour ago The best way to do it would be to place seeds 9-12 into the bracket, then let 5th seed pick who they want to play, then 6th seed pick etc. When that is done let the 1st seed pick where they want to go, then 2nd seed etc. This way teams/fans would not complain about the bracket because they (teams) created it. This will never happen because then playoff committee would only rank the teams and that does not create as much controversy.
