Just Ducky No. 2 Share Posted December 8 Maybe frustration has raised its ugly head. Loosing to the top teams in the B1G every season has to be the theme song of the lions. It’s ok for him to be frustrated I know I would be. The same thing will probably happen to him next season and Franklin knows it.

OregonDucks No. 5 Share Posted December 8 (edited) Life must be miserable to be a head football coach in the midwest that can't win big games (e.g., Ryan Day, James Franklin). At least Lincoln Riley gets to enjoy the Southern California weather, entertainment and beaches.... The first thing out of Frankiln's mouth during his post-game press conference, was that he didn't want to take anything away from Oregon but then he went on to complain about the officiating. The refs didn't throw the ball down the sideline, late in the game, to a WR that was covered, James... Edited December 8 by OregonDucks 2
30Duck Moderator No. 6 Share Posted December 8 I know that Lanning doesn't have the experience of losing big games like Day & Franklin have. He lost 2 last season, to the Huskies, and somehow, he didn't sound like a whiny kid. I guess you have to keep losing and losing and losing to get that down. 1 2

Dan Lanning doesn't make excuses when his team loses...he compliments the other team and then figures out what HE needs to do to make the program better (e.g., upgrade the entire roster after the Georgia loss, improve the run defense after the OSU loss, add more secondary talent and improve game time decisions after the UW loses). Day, Franklin and Mario will never get better, IMO, because they always blame others for their losses, instead of looking internally on how they and their teams could improve. “You cannot solve a problem with the same mind that created it.” -- Albert Einstein Edited December 8 by OregonDucks 3 2

I also noticed that Franklin spoke about how well his guys played against the #1 team in the nation, then subsequently talked about their turnovers being the reason they lost. I felt like he threw his QB under the bus. Anyone who has played team sports would respect a coach for stating that he needs to find a way to get better, instead, Franklin points out perceived inequities, and the teams mistakes. I think the difference between DL, and the coaches you mention is ego. DL knows that getting better starts with himself…how refreshing. 1 1 5

Notalot No. 11 Share Posted December 8 Can you blame him for feeling “testy”? But at this point who the Duck cares??! Go Ducks, and better luck in the future Coach franklin. BTW, you will get the capital “F” back after/if you win the big one.

Augduck No. 14 Share Posted December 9 And the fan base is equally as salty. In case you missed it Oregon held on every play, committed PI nonstop, and had illegal men downfield all night long. Also, Abdul Carter was held every play thus was unable to perform at his usual level. 1

It's funny because they were "punished", as Josh Pate said today with having one of the easiest paths to the national championship whereas the Ducks were rewarded with the worst path. They have a lot to be salty about, I guess.
woundedknees No. 17 Share Posted December 9 Winning it all, this season. Would require Oregon to accomplish a feat that will potentially be unmatched for years to come. In point of fact, has never been achieved before: Win 16 consecutive games in single season!!! Sounds like a singularity point in history to me! Just a little something for every other college football coach to yearn for, whine about, make excuses for, or use as motivation to become better at their chosen vocation... Either that, or go find a dark corner to disappear in.
