It's a loss, but Ross Douglas turned water into wine at Syracuse. He can idenitify and maximize the talent we've got available.

Sadiq and Dakorien Moore look to be the primary targets. I think Sadiq was already trending that way without the injury; but we'll get to see that Moore-Moore connection early and often this year!

Sports tests physical and mental limits. How frustrating to work out all year, play good ball during the season, and then get derailed in the off season by a serious injury.

One of those “ agony of defeat” personal moments. The Ducks will miss him, and I wish him well during his rehab from this injury.

Boy...what a blow to this year, and to the stacking of the classes. A ton of talent in the WR room, but mostly inexperienced, not what you want when it is late in the game and 3rd and 9 at Penn State.  I cannot put my finger on it, (besides the big drop in the Spring Game) but I do not have a good vibe about the transfer Malik Benson.

Tough break for Mr. Stewart.

On the brighter side, Dillon Gresham looked good in the spring game. The word of mouth on Perry is also encouraging.

One question for the cognoscenti....

We used to speak of split ends, flankers and slot guys. Now they use a confusing alphabet soup, which I cannot keep straight.

My understanding is that the receiver on the line of scrimmage must be strong or large enough to deal with press coverage, if he is not so fast as to render it impractical.

I am not sure who would be best suited for this among the current crop. I thought Lowe and Bryant were slot guys; Moore is not big; Kasper is tall and seems to get open, but does not seem to have reliable hands; Jurrion may not have recovered his burst after the injury.

Two tight formations ends might alleviate this.

I’m with you Chuck on Malek. I was not impressed with his body language in the spring game. I’m sure it was just a bad day or he was not settled into the offense as good as we hoped

I’m not ready to loose my mind over Evan’s injury as we have a ton of talent in that room. Although I feel sick to my stomach for Stewart’s season, I know he was working his but off to prove he is that guy. Very sad turn of events for the young man. Hope he makes a full recovery.

All theory until there’s high level productivity. Hope he recovers but this is a dude with identical stats all 3 years he’s played at two schools. There’s always the hope of a breakthrough though, high upside.

To look on the bright side, here's hoping more reps for the youngsters in Fall camp turns up a star (or two) in the making early on. How soon is that Penn State game again? Game 4?

Fair point, no doubt. However, without Stewart in 2024, OBD has zero wins against TOSU.

Game 5, Week 5. PSU is off in Week 4. OBD naps in Week 6. PSU will be 3-0 coming into the game, and OBD 4-0.

My heart goes out to the young man. This will be a big blow to the talented, but unproven Oregon receiver room. I was hoping that ES was going to have his “breakout” season in 2025-26, improving his consistency and getting 1,000+ receiving yards this season before being selected in the 2026 NFL Draft.

I hope he keeps his head up and continues to be a leader on the team as he works through the grueling rehab ahead.

It was nice to be counting on a seasoned veteran but this is a classic case of next man up. The talent pool is deep and we will see who steps up in August. GO DUCKS!

Golden opportunity for certain players to make a big impression.  To my mind:

Last chances

- Gary Bryant Jr. (final year)

- Jurrion Dickey (3 years now, time to show something)

- Malik Benson (final year)

Big chance to break out:

- Kenyon Saddiq (could we see 1,000 yards?)

- Dakorien Moore (500+ yards would be a stellar 1st year)

- Kyler Kasper (showed potential before injury last season)

Going to throw out a crazy thing here...

In 2014 Bralon Addison suffered an injury in the spring that knocked him out for the season and he was our most experienced returning receiver that year.

But a couple redshirt freshman came in and made a massive impact along with a freshman. Devon Allen and Charles Nelson both had pretty good years, though Allen would be injured in the Rose Bowl, Darrin Carrington did pretty darn good too, though he sat out the national championship game due to failing a drug test.

The Ducks moved Byron Marshall to receiver and he had the best year of all. And to top it all off Mariota won the Heisman.

So inexperience is not everything but I think we'd all rather have Stewart in the lineup but I'm confident this staff will a solution.

I too believe the worst part of this is Evan Stewart himself, good luck to him. As for the team, "Oregon has done well with the "next Man, or men, up" Remember when Blount was suspended, and it was up to Freshman, LaMichael James?

David, I'm looking for RS Freshman Jeremiah McClellan (below) to have a big "move-up" year, while I could see Justius Lowe having a "break-out" year like the examples you gave. Dak Moore will just break-out and beyond...
