Saturday at 07:22 PM1 day Moderator No. Run D still a weakness, even before the 2s and 3s gave up the one at the end. Lots to work on before the Penn St game, or else it will be a very bad day in Happy Valley for the Ducks
Saturday at 07:33 PM1 day No. Overall I would give us a C, we only out gained Northwestern by about 60 yards, which is not a top 5 performance. Line play was very average. You can tell Lanning is PISSED at the performance, we didn't play even close to our potential. We have to bow up on the line, we will get demolished against PSU if we play like that in the trenches, it was kind of pathetic at times how much they getting pushed around. We were opportunistic, caused some turnovers which was good to see, but it should be a major wake up call that B1G football is going to be a lot tougher than beating up on a BAD Okie St. team.Secondary can improve, LBs were okay, just need more consistency.RBs were decent, WR the same, not a lot to digest there I think.I thought Dante was very good until that last throw, I really don't understand pulling him after that play, I don't get it, I especially don't get putting a 4th string QB in for a series, Moga should be getting those reps.
Saturday at 07:46 PM1 day No. Sleepy start ... Moore took a while to warm up. Even his pitch to Limar on the touchdown was a bit off target Limar caught it around his head. Ducks got rolling in the middle. Lanning and company took their foot off the gas too early. The 79 yard touchdown was a gut punch to an otherwise solid game. Pulling Moore after his interception instead of putting him back in to rack up another touchdown for the team felt too early. The Ducks should have had their foot on the gas for one more series before pulling the starters. I also get that Lanning doesn't care so much about the final score as he is preserving his players for a LONG playoff schedule but with so many new faces I couldn't help but feel Dante Moore could have just used another series on the road.
Saturday at 07:52 PM1 day No. My take away is we won by 20 in a dead environment with a 9am start against a B1G roster and didn’t seem to have any injuries. Every year we’re going to have a few workman like games and some of OBD fans will analyze it…a lot.In my rearview mirror personally. Edited Saturday at 07:55 PM1 day by JabbaNoBargain
Saturday at 08:12 PM1 day No. 166 yds of NW’s 313 came on NW’s last two drivesIn the last 11:27 of the game: 9 plays 75 yds, 3 plays 91 ydsWith a 34-14 final, Ducks do not cover the spread. Would have at 34-7,
Saturday at 08:14 PM1 day Moderator No. Agree that Moore was pulled a little too early.Whole team looked pretty meh all game.Props to the Wild Cats who seemed much more fired up.I think the Ducks showed up with a just take care of business mentality and it showed. Lanning will have plenty of things to see on film to work on.I’m hoping both lines getting pushed around was more meh than signs of trouble.
Saturday at 08:27 PM1 day Moderator No. It was 34-0 in the 3rd and they took their foot off the gas. It goes to show how talented the team is to play that badly yet still be in control. I’ll take the W over an upset loss any day.
Saturday at 08:53 PM1 day No. No penalties! Team plays with discipline. They’re not likely to beat themselves. Watching Penn State and they have great speed plus play very fast.
Saturday at 09:11 PM1 day Moderator No. Effort overall looked sleepy and lackadaisical...especially in the trenches. It gave me vibes of the Texas Tech game a couple years ago where the OL/DL struggled to take control of the LOS consistently.
Saturday at 09:17 PM1 day No. seems like the early start with pregame downpour had more effect on OBD than i thought it might.
Saturday at 09:24 PM1 day No. Hughes?The box score has him with 1 carry for 5 yds.If I counted correctly, 66 players participated. I think 74 traveled.5-96 Hill11-39 Limar3-25 Harris4-8 Davison1-5 Hughes2-1 Riggs2-5 D. Moore1-2 Moga
Saturday at 09:29 PM1 day No. Most recent travel estimate:2:40 pm PT wheels up in Chicago6:40 wheels down in EugeneThe Beavers are still in a weather delay in Lubbock which will mean a later arrival back in Oregon than they planned. Next game for them isn't at home, but down the road about 43 miles.
Saturday at 09:32 PM1 day No. "66 players participated. I think 74 traveled"In addition to the 6 RBs with touches, I believe Whittington was on the sideline.
Saturday at 09:41 PM1 day No. Donte insured the win for us IMHO.Most Surprised By: The lack of push from our offensive line. With guys like Sadiq and DM bringing the blocks no matter the circumstances, you would think the 6'5" 330lb road graders could shove someone smaller and weaker off the ball simply because they want to. Not sure what to make of that showing today.
Saturday at 10:09 PM1 day No. This game was exactly what we needed. Better competition from what seems to be a well coached team. We took a 34-0 lead while not playing our very best. Mistakes at the end give the coaches material to coach hard with.We probably anointed the offensive and defensive lines a bit earlyI need more and more of Moore and Moore
23 hours ago23 hr No. The last time these players would have played at 9am was peewee football. And in a stadium with no stands on their side. A weird vibe for sure.I have 3 takeaways of future interest.#1 Dante Moore is him. I've been a bit "I'll believe the efficiency when I see it", but I'm seeing it consistently. The amount of times he dug us out of a hole with excellent decisions and really good throwing that is like Nix was doing in his second season.#2 We are really struggling to bring down RBs after 1st contact. I know some of that is the way the Northwestern RBs run the ball, and are likely taught to run the ball (never go down). But it seems like we are just tackling too high in the front 7 every game.Every tackle is a bear hug 1st, where they get drug for an extra couple yards due to lack of leverage. Those extra couple of yards each run are the difference between 3 and out, and an extended drive where we can't get off the field. It's tough for the DL when they are 6'5" and trying to shed a blocker to grab a 5'10 RB that is hunched over. I'm not a position coach, so I don't know how to fix it.#3. When our Tackles are trying to slide past the OL into the backfield to be disruptive it can leave some gaping holes for the RBs and frees up an OL to block the LBs. I guess we are good with the safeties coming downhill in a hurry before the RB breaks a big one, but it's scary. Again maybe that is just the cost of being disruptive.
19 hours ago19 hr No. I share similar sentiments about this game. Not overly impressed by the trenches for the Ducks. Not sure if I'm being too critical, but does it seem like LB Jackson (#26) is an athletic freak that is only a missile on defense (he doesn't wrap up)? Too many times he makes fast, hard contact but bounces off and they keep running. The uniforms were spectacular.
19 hours ago19 hr No. "...last time these players would have played at 9am was peewee football"I believe the West Coast Four are 2-3 in 9:00 am games so far starting in 2024.1-1 UCLA0-2 UW1-0 Oregon
17 hours ago17 hr No. 2 hours ago, woundedknees said:I am enjoying the relative lack of penalties so far this season. No penalties in a game, the first since 2000 per the telecast. They may have lacked intensity, but you can't sleepwalk to a zero penalty game.
16 hours ago16 hr Moderator No. Personally I don't mind a small handful of penalties if it means putting every game away by halftime. 🤷
2 hours ago2 hr No. I was disappointed in the Ducks line play. Northwestern's D line, hardly up to the level of Penn State, made things rough for our run game, particularly up the middle.
2 hours ago2 hr No. I look forward to hearing opinions from our board experts. To this fan's untrained eye, it seemed to me that the approach, given the unusual game conditions/environment and the opponent, was to play straight up football with limited deceptive plays and defensive stunts/blitzes and see if we could simply overpower a lesser opponent in a challenging situation.Through 3 quarters, the score was 34-0. Then, we took the foot off the gas and they scored.Workmanlike and successful? Yes. Aesthetically pleasing? Perhaps not, though this old Duck fan appreciates any win. Those most disgruntled, probably laid the points. Edited 2 hours ago2 hr by idontrollonshobbas
1 hour ago1 hr No. Good, as always to win. However, I'm really worried about the run defense. Oklahoma State and Northwestern were able to run effectively. It'll be a long game at Penn State if we can't stop the run.
