They were just looking for a reason to get rid of him. Found a way to fire with cause so no massive payout owed.

No idea who will take that job, no clue whatsoever. I'm sure the university would have rather this come out mid season than now since this means the recruiting class will be broken up and they don't even get the opportunity to go after the coaches that have now been hired.

Kind of a nightmare for Michigan.

Campbell would have been very good for them if he was still available.

There's something called the Blue Wall up in Ann Arbor. I don't know if it's real, but I heard from a Michigan State beat writer, that this group was prepping to get Moore out of there.

Sounds too much like a James Bond plot to me. But the 'with cause' makes me wonder. As Charles said, kind of a bad time to be needing a coach. Unless this 'Blue Wall' had a plan.

Michigan AD Warde Manuel then announced the decision was for cause after a university investigation found “credible evidence that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member” in a statement. Biff Poggi will serve as the interim head coach.

It looks like the Big Brother coach has followed the path of the Little Brother coach. MSU's firing of Tucker for cause was upheld. (J. Smith is available.)

This is a talented and young football team with a good recruiting class. How many recruits bail and how many vets, including QB Underwood, transfer?

Interim coach Biff Hoggi's play-calling was better than Moore's. I expect Biff (sorry, McFly 😁) will be the interim coach with a chance at the permanent gig.

Underwood was committed to LSU before his services were purchased by Larry Ellison. I'd be shocked if the Portal King hasn't reached out.

Maybe Michigan will alter course and go for a private capital deal?

There was apparently an "alleged assault" investigation going on prior to Moore's 8:30PM booking. Not clear if it's related.

That's a quick fall from grace.

Here is what is being said on some Michigan boards. Nobody knows the full story yet but basically he allegedly threatened his life in front his wife then left and went to the staffers house. He then threatened her life and his life and then police arrested him down the road because the wife has his location on her phone and gave it to the police.

Sounds like he completely snapped.

Part of the reason I follow the Ducks and college football is to get away from 'real life'.

I understand that people mess up. An 18 year old kid can do something and learn from it. A nearly 40 year old man should know better. Best thing for college football is to kick out the perps. We need positive role models.

I quit following the NBA when the Portland 'Jail blazers' went off the hook. And I never went back.

There is a big difference between being 'caught up in the moment' and deliberately making bad decisions.

Lots of rumors swirling.

My heart goes out to the wife and kids. I hope that Sherrone Moore can get the help that he needs.

In today's world, it is very rare to fire somebody "With Cause" unless you have ironclad evidence of significant violations.

The repercussions for Michigan if they blew this, would be incredible for institution. Therefore, I have to believe that they have him dead to rights.

Last week we thought Lane Kiffin, and his nonsense were going to be the stories of the off-season. Then it was Penn State bungling their coaching search. Then just a day or so ago, it was going to be about Notre Dame, and the CFP format likely changing.

It's like being a Cowboys fan in the nineties. Imagine a world where Michigan hires DeBoer, and Lane Kiffin goes to Alabama.

I don't know if I was at a big job making big money, if I'd want to take that job right now. It's a top ten , or five job. But, there's a lot of mess right now. None of us know who knew what, or if there's more. Michigan students were asked what the team should do. One said "Hire that guy with the glasses at Indiana, just give him a billion dollars". Another said "Defund the whole program".

The students are split.

Intrigued by this. Do I want Deboer to be the next Michigan coach, No. Jedd from up North is on that list as welll.

Here's my question. Are there any pieces from Michigan's recent recruiting class that we want and might have a chance at? Recruits are already putting in for releases.

I think it's likely that Moore is clinically depressed.

There is a lot of tragedy in all this. Moore’s family is caught in the fallout with their lives being turned upside down and inside out. The current Michigan players and incoming recruits must now decide whether to stay or go.

Talk about a "STORIED PROGRAM"!

This is gonna leave a stinky mark on the AD's expensive carpet that Stanley Steemer can't wash out!

So, it was allegedly a staffer, he stalked her for months, but she broke up with him on Monday, then called the AD to complain...

Sounds like pure soap opera to me.

I feel very bad for his family, first and foremost.

The school has been crafting some of this sticky wicket, in retaining staff who had already been involved in a ruckus undefeated Harbaugh.

Not nearly a smelly as the Penn State mess under Paterno, but definitely not the sort of press coverage any institution should have to deal with.

The fact they immediately fired Moore for cause certainly suggests a predisposition by the AD.

The University of Michigan is now investigating its athletic department.

Wonder if the AD makes it through the investigation given all of the scandals over the past few years and the impact on the hiring of their next football coach? What coach at a top program would you want to leave their job for the uncertainty surrounding the Michigan job?
