Oregon Can Aim Higher now that MC's Gone

Recommended Posts

If he doesn't want to be here let him go and let's pull a USC and get a real coach. Uncle Phil let's put up the money and get the guy who invented the spread offense as we know it today, let's go get Urban Meyer up here.

I was just telling my son that 15 minutes ago.

We should certainly aim higher than Florida on the map!

Urban Meyer has way too much baggage to get hired at Oregon. No way.

Meyer has won a natty at every team he's ever coached at. He would win a natty in Eugene. We need him here.

He just said he was not a candidate for Notre Dame. He is not going to Oregon.

OK, I know I just wrote a post admonishing those who are aiming too low for the reality of where the program is today and can easily be but this may be a wee bit too much in the other direction.

Love the passion and pride though.  Better this than the alternative (I grew up a UCLA BB fan as my dad was a Physics professor and Applied Mathematician there.  That fan base has zero issue of keeping their expectations where they should be despite all of the east coast haters...and now they are back where they should be).

A few years ago I would've agreed, but Oregon is in its own realm now. This is part of why I'm so surprised about the last couple of weeks.

Notre Dame hasn't done anything in over 30 years and is an Under Armor school. No top coach wants that.

No we don't.  He harbored a spousal abuser for years.  ZERO tolerance.

Fentress just reported that he's due back in Eugene tonight and some recruits have reported that he's cancelled visits tmrw. As with everything in this circus, who knows if it's true.

Notre Dame was in the Playoffs in 2018 and 2020.  While they got hammered (and for the record, I think ND is overrated most years and coasts on being a blue blood brand and a media desire to see them as a top 6 team no matter what) not many teams can say that.  They also recruit really well.

If that is the "nothing" in the Duck's future, that would likely be a fate many here would take.

Hopefully he takes DeRuyter with him because his D schemes cant defend the pass worth a crap.

I actually believe the players can't cover.  The CBs have been a major disappointment given their respective "ratings".

Maybe so, hopefully another coach will come in and "fix things"

Notre Dame will never win another Natty.

Oregon has a much better shot at the Natty.

Who would ever want to live in South Bend, IN? It's an armhole state and city.

This is why Oregon is a better job among several other reasons.

I made this same suggestion earlier in the season.  However, Meyer recently made it clear, that he has "no interest" in heading back to college football to pursue a fourth national championship.
