Bo Nix Getting Some Heisman Love

Recommended Posts

C.J. Stroud remains the Heisman Trophy favorite, but Ohio State's star quarterback officially has company. Not only did Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker...

Having the "error free" Bo Nix show up to the UCLA game will one key to winning.

I feel the error free Nix is able to come out because he has a well rounded team around him that do their jobs and that enables him to do his.

Desperate hero ball is not his strength. And thankfully Lanning and Dillingham are not putting him in a position where he needs to do that.

Makes me wonder how much love this program can take before there is a let down?

These are student athletes who have emotions and distractions. Lanning will truly be a magician if we don't see the players come out flat at some point.

The next challenge is finding that inspiration when you are a bit too full of yourself. I tend to think it is when not if as the kudos begins to roll in thick.

Here's a question for you football brainiacs out there: of the Heisman list how many are transfers, RB's or QB's?  Might that be a negative for Nix?

Bo Nix drops in Heisman Trophy poll, but has major opportunity vs. No. 10 UCLA

While the Ducks took the week off to prepare for this week’s clash against the No. 10 UCLA Bruins,

many of college football’s best players were making a statement.

DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM

No surprise that Nix dropped in the Heisman poll during the bye week. He’ll have every opportunity to make up some ground this weekend vs. UCLA.

Is it okay to start talking Bo Nix and the Heisman?

Admit it, you've wondered what could happen if the Ducks keep winning and Bo Nix keeps playing like he's played for the Ducks. Is this a real possibility?

It'll be tough sledding for Nix after Oregon lost to Georgia in week one 49-3, but the further we get away from that outcome and the more times we see Nix play, the more realistic that discussion becomes.

While we don't know how realistic Nix's chances are of making it to New York City, we do have some data to see how close Nix is playing to a Duck who previously won the award. The data that pops up shows us while we can't control the national narrative on Nix, his play is at least on par with a past winner in Marcus Mariota.

I think Nix should be in the conversation for the heisman trophy, and if he keeps playing the way he has the past six games he should be invited to the ceremony.

While anything can happen, I honestly think that if Stroud stays healthy and tOSU doesn’t get beat down in a big game, Stroud will win the heisman.  Not saying I agree or disagree, I just think the voters will choose him over anyone else.  A lot of football left to play so we will see.

I'm thinking it is probably going to the Tennessee quarterback. I don't remember his name but there is nothing but hype around him.

I read a headline that he "can't be stopped" by the FCS program they destroyed yesterday.

Also a win over Bama fast tracks a Heisman.

Hendon Hooker.  Yeah, he is really good.  They still have to come into Sanford Stadium and face GA.  If he and TN put up big numbers on the Dawgs and win then he will sway a ton of votes his way.  Easier said than done though.  But who knows, TN has looked good and GA certainly hasn’t looked indestructible lately.

Two weeks from now is a huge weekend for the SEC.  Bama plays LSU for the lead in the west and TN plays GA for the lead in the east.  Of coarse this is assuming TN beats KY and GA beats FL this coming week.  KY and FL aren’t pushover teams so you never know.  I can remember many times we were supposed to beat FL and didn’t.

If 49-3 doesn't provide at least a reasonable amount of inspiration, along a modicum of humility, all season long, I don't know what will.

Bo Nix's first year at Oregon looks a lot like Marcus Mariota's Heisman season

Bo Nix has been playing at a Heisman level. We’ve been saying as such for weeks.

Kenny Dillingham addresses Bo's improvement at Oregon in this interview.  He essentially said that he's giving Bo the ability to make pre-snap adjustments when he doesn't like the call and Bo has embraced the notion that he doesn't need to hit every deep shot that's called.  The implication is Bo trusts that the offense will get better opportunities with taking a short gain or even throwing it away for no gain.

He's essentially minimizing his negatives and trusting the talent around him.

Bo Nix is having more fun than anyone in college football

The Oregon quarterback shed what was supposed to be and became something even better: A Heisman candidate.

Nix started 34 games at Auburn and won 21 of them, with much of the Tigers’ fanbase feeling the physically gifted

but inconsistent quarterback wasn’t living up to his 5-star expectations.

His name hitting the transfer portal in December of 2021 came as a surprise, but one not exactly greeted with disappointment in Auburn.

Change, it seemed, would be good for everyone.
