Football is historically cyclical and the Saban cycle is over. It was a long run and will be fascinating to watch it unfold…good trend so far.

Seaton to LSU
I agree with the sentiment that CFB leaders need to rein in out-of-control payments to players. However, any 'leader' that try to do so had better be ready to write checks for legal fees. Programs like Ole Miss, LSU, and Miami will not be reined in without a court order or a large judgment. It's every program for itself, especially in the South. https://trojanswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/trojans/football/2026/01/25/usc-inhabits-wild-west-college-football-world/88330613007/?utm_source=smg-trojanswire-strada&utm_medium=email&utm_cam Caveat: Great recruiter Riley didn't have to buy recruits to bring in the No. 1-ranked group of recruits? The Perfect Oregon Ducks T Shirt For.......
This is a little bit bizarre, because I was also 11 years old in the summer of '72 and I went to that same "Oregon Renaissance Faire" (before they changed the name to the Oregon Country Fair). What are the odds of that? I was also there in '71. Not my favorite memories as a kid, but I was there as well.

2026 Duck Football Commits (3)
2026 Oregon Ducks Offseason Preview: Safeties room strong as everIt's hard to believe Dillon Thieneman was an Oregon Duck for just one season. If you could draw up the perfect player to come out of the portal, it would be Thieneman. He fit in so well with the program; he looked as if he were a four-year starter in Eugene. Oregon is going to miss him. But the Ducks head into 2026 with one of the best and strongest safety rooms in the nation. There's a good mix of veteran leadership, young talent, incoming transfers, and an influx of young and talented players in the back end of that Duck secondary.

They need to change up their scheduling but that can't happen until the next contract. Big noon is a cool time slot to fill a premier game but outside of that other major games get split between CBS and NBC. Which don't put college football on all day like ESPN/ABC. Also Fox Sports 1 was supposed to give some competition to ESPN but it doesn't. Same thing with CBS sports. So those aren't helping the viewership cause. Furthermore, some fans get real picky about commentators. I seriously reading other forums complain about the commentators is funny because they hate everyone for one dumb reason or another. Then at the end of the day the South is just more heavily invested into football culture. Another thought... Probably doesn't help that the football viewer base on the West coast is now pretty fragmented. I know we aren't a power house of viewers over here but with all this conference realignment I still find myself not caring about almost all other B1G match ups that don't concern the Ducks. Seriously I only watched a couple of other B1G games all year. In the Pac I would watch other teams play but I'm not connected to the B1G yet and I know I'm not alone.

Looks Like the Offensive Line Will be Lanning's Recruits and Not Portal Transfers
Two fold problems on the pass protection. World and Harkey just got wrecked by speed in multiple games. Though they were pretty good run blockers. Gabriel (and Nix) could just read a defense so fast and could get the ball out so fast that they could avoid the pass rush. Moore isn't that fast (yet) and when he is that fast it's usually a predetermined pass and less reading the defense. As a result this years line has had to protect a lot longer which will lead to more pressures.

SAM N'GATA, 6'3/215# son of former Oregon great, Haloti N'gata... class of '27 Depending on where you look, he's a top 300 player, and a top30 or better rank as an athlete. One site had him as high as the #12 athlete. Sam had 66 tackles as a junior. Ngata also plays WR.

Looks Like the Offensive Line Will be Lanning's Recruits and Not Portal Transfers
This is about the only unit I have questions about going into next year. And it's just because I haven't seen a lot from the new starters. And it is really about giving Dante time when they get to the playoffs.

They didn't seem to pass protect as well as the 2024 guys, but I sure did like seeing Harkey throw some nasty blocks. That dude is an animal.

Looks Like the Offensive Line Will be Lanning's Recruits and Not Portal Transfers
I think Seaton will be really good at LSU. There’s no denying that unless he gets injured. I’m very interested to see what a O-Line with a few years experience in the offensive system looks like. I know Crader and Pancho will be solid. I have high hopes for newcomers Nacho and Bennett, but I have the same hopes for Wilson, Luli, Rogers, Addison, Utu, et al.

Looks Like the Offensive Line Will be Lanning's Recruits and Not Portal Transfers
A lot of people seem to be down on portal OL and I get it. I will throw in Pregnon came in and had to play on an OL with two other portal OL and was an AP first team All-American. He was good. I think that is the Ducks third AP 1st team AA OL since 1920. Over 100 years of regular OL development and two AP 1st team OL (and one of the two has been described as an absolute OL unicorn). Since the portal opened up, I think the Ducks have brought in 7 new OL and now have a 3rd AP 1st team AA OL. The Duck staff brought in a two year starter from FBS USC, and then added two G5 OL from Nevada and Texas State who they hoped to "fine-tune" or "fix" in 9 months, and these two particular OL I think (arguably) turned out to be mostly who they were on film the last 4 years. I think Harkey was 3rd team All-Sun Belt in 2024 and World was honorable mention All-Mountain West in 2024. Like all recruiting, the portal is at least in part projection. On college football boards, I see the term JAG used a lot, simply meaning "just another guy". If you bring in 3 hopefulls on the OL and get 2/3 JAGs, of course it isn't going to always look great. World and Harkey did help the team to 13-2 and into a game to have a shot to play in the National Championship. I'd say still not bad.

College Basketball Players And Their NIL Payments
I can only say that I am very disappointed in Oregon Basketball... The days of competing in final four... the days of Sabrina. I'd go to some games but the product is not worth maybe catching the flu lol. No I am not blaming Altman and Kelly Graves used to be a winner..... Anyways, when they are competitive I will go to some games. At least the women have competed... I seriously considered season tickets for Duck women, and will again as I've really enjoyed watching them in the past.... Just waiting... time will tell. Yeah I know, injures every year. (not a good excuse over and over) Go Ducks.... I will go watch some volleyball...

Seaton to LSU
I share the sentiments of other posters that there is a silver lining here. This player has committed to Deion Sanders and Lane Kiffin after a lot of "look at me" drama. Between that and his asking price, I was worried about team chemistry and locker room culture. Given our overall talent composite score, he is a luxury that has a downside at a particular price. I think Lanning made the right price/value prop by not outbidding LSU in this case. Fox Crader....c'mon down! I think he will abetter than Harkey and World were anyway.
