  2. LBs Platt and Mothudi, who both played RB in HS, took reps with the offense yesterday. The former is 6'2" 230 and runs a 11.0 100m. The latter is 6'3" 240, ran track, played serious hoop and had 1400 yds rushing as a junior. Something will get dialed up for them on Friday. Run Sadiq from slot to backfield and back out again. Hell, do the jumbo, give Boettcher the rock and glue him to Pregnon's fanny on 4th and 1. Yeah, Davison being out sucks. There is a very deep talent pool to draw from that can still make a difference. Fact is the real battle will be up front. If Dante and Pancho recognize the defensive alignments, make adjustments, the O-line makes holes and Noah and D Hill run thru those holes, the depth of the RB room won't mean diddly squat.
  3. Correct on all points. B1G HQ stands by the enforceability of the agreement. Miami's motion to dismiss has been denied. Why not leave to play for a coach who left his team in the middle of a playoff run? They deserve one another.
  4. Fortunately, indentured servitude is not allowed in the United States. It's prohibited by the Constitution. However, if the contract, using a format approved by B1G HQ, is worth the paper it is written on, UW can sue for damages, and also sue for Interference with a Contract against the party(ies) that induced him to breach the agreement. You sign a deal, and less than a week later, say, 'I've been blessed to play for UW and its fans, but after praying on it, I have to do what's best for me.' 'Don't be mad, UW fans. My Higher Power told me to break my word and leave for more money.' 🤪 He cannot be restrained from playing elsewhere, but Williams and third parties involved with this nonsense can be sued for damages, and I hope UW wins the suit. According to the law, Williams is not a 'kid.' He's over 18 years of age, and he signed a contract. Under Washington state law, he's an adult; whether he acts like one or not is irrelevant.
  5. I agree that schools should have some control. But, Pros having been doing it for years, why not their "minor league" now? Sports contracts have been a one-way street for years . . . perform well and demand a new deal or threaten to sit/demand a trade vs poor play and your owner is stuck.
  6. Smoke in the air it may be LSU. UW trying to hold him to same contract language another UW (Wisconsin) had for Xavier Lucas, who bolted Badgers to Miami. Wisconsin sued, still open. Lucas did go to Miami
  7. Hill has been asked to pass protection from what I remember watching. If he's not taking a hand off he's running a route. Whittington has done some pass protection but frankly he's awful at it. Harris has done some pass protection and maybe he's still with the team. Limar has done a decent job at pass protection early in the season before he was hurt but the report says he's out and probably due to him entering the portal... Which Harris has done as well so not sure what is going on there. I read on another site that Brayden Platt (inside linebacker) has been taking some reps at runningback. Probably as a linebacker he isn't afraid of contact and can pass block... And he's big so for some basic runs between the tackles he can probably get the job done.... I hope!
  8. No, I agree with UW, you signed a contract? Welcome to the real world where you have to honor a contract or you have to pay compensation for breaking said contract. You don't get to sign and then sign with another team after they give you a better deal, that isn't how sports works. If UW and others don't hold players to contracts then the contract isn't really a contract.
  9. Yes, mistakes will be a big part of this game. If we keep the ball, not turn it over, we in good shape. Evenly matched teams means the one with fewer mistakes wins. Let's hope it's Oregon.
  10. So, UW wants to "enforce the contract." Well, unless there are performance incentives just how exactly are they going to do that? You want a kid that you are forcing to stay, to lead the team in B1G games at Nebraska, at Oregon, at USC next season. You think he'll give a damn if he throws into coverage? What if he plans to preserve a year of eligibility by refusing to play?
  11. "If you're good enough, you'd better be old enough too." It took otherworldly play for a 2nd year player (Becker) to crack the two deep. I do seriously wonder how good IU is going to be when they run out of JMU super seniors. Certainly the portal is an instant way to increase experience, but there is no way this level of seniority and continuity within a system can be maintained. This year is IUs window to win it all way more than it is anyone else's, because they won't be able to replicate this situation again.
  12. Nasir Wyatt was moved over to RB for practice this week. As others said Harris not being listed as our means he will be available. We will likely see some use of Grace in the 2 back sets in place of Davison. I think the bigger impact is protection schemes. Hill has had all season to work on his blocking. He'd better be ready to pull his weight blocking the pass rush. Silver lining is sometimes when great players are out everyone feels like they need to pick up the slack and the overall affect can be positive.
  13. Players on playoff team rosters are allowed extra time from when their team is knocked out to declare and transfer out. Why would anyone sign a guy who played significant minutes and quit on his team in the midst of a PO run?
  14. Looks like the UW dogs aren't lying down. On3Washington preparing to take major step after Demond Will....
  15. Ouch. Losing Davison is massive in this game. He had good success running between the tackles in the first game. What a bummer!
  16. Let's see how long it takes him to sign at another school and for how much money. Poaching was once punishable by death; today? The House settlement was STUPID. Players being paid are EMPLOYEES! For goodness' sake, stop trying to preserve the idea of amateur athletics that are long gone. Stop trying to preserve bowl games and calling it a 'playoff.' Acknowledge employee status, allow a union to be formed, bargain with the union, and adopt common-sense salary and transfer restrictions as we see in the NFL. Without these guardrails, the NFL would crater. College football has morphed into Billionaire Bingo. I understand why UW fans are frustrated and upset. It will be one thing if Dante goes pro, another if he decides to transfer for $XXX more.
  17. After watching highlights from the FCS Championship game last night (Congrats to Montana State), I'm convinced that great effort and "want to" can overcome an awful lot of bad breaks. It was surprising the number of great plays that were made on both sides of the ball by athletes counted by most as not good enough to play Division 1. The Davison loss is a bummer for sure, but I am confident someone(s) are going to fill in the gap and wow us with their passion to play for OBD and get us a win Friday. Go Ducks!
  18. I hate to say it, but that grieving-loser UW fan is somewhat right.
  19. https://x.com/ChristianCaple/status/2008720782739038621 Just a couple days earlier it was "reported" he was signing a new deal with UW.
  20. That’s really surprising, he showed quite a bit of improvement this season from last. What would be hilarious is if Dante opted for the draft and he transferred to Eugene. The Fusky fans would lose their minds.
  21. Among several other players recently… On3Demond Williams makes stunning decision on future at Wash....
  22. The Davison update is an extreme bummer but I see two possible upsides. Maybe Lanning will be more inclined to just take the dang points and punt from midfield as gambles could be even more fatale. The offense may be forced to throw in some unpredictable alternatives that Indy won't be able to prepare for. I'm not happy about this. Just trying to look on the bright side of life.
  23. My guess is that as soon as these ridiculous window dates are resolved that every NIL contract will include the provision that you play every game. .. or what games you are required to play with this contract.
  24. How do NIL contracts not already cover the entirety of the season?
  25. Thank you for the ponder points! I too will put me prediction in the correct thread for it. Since we don’t have JD, the RB room will need to step it up in his absence. It will be imperative that DM has the time to hit our TE tandem over the middle for 6 and 8 yard gains early and often. That should soften the Hoosier run defense enough that we can rush for 150 yards or more. If that happens, DM can air it out to the WRs for 3 to 5 explosion plays. OBD needs to put together one of their best games in every aspect, O, D, ST, and coaching. If ALL Ducks (including coaching staff) play the game to OBD standard we have a chance to blow them out of the Peach Bowl. If not, we fans need to prepare for a long and uncomfortable day.
