  2. While I'd like to see Raiola's upside in the same light as Bo Nix's, they are such different players. Bo had stability and leadership characteristics that Raiola doesn't seem to possess, at least at this stage. Raiola is a straight back pocket passer with limited run upside who's rehabbing a fractured fibula. He will not be a running threat. Maybe the plan is to sit behind Dante for 2026, but this Duck fan is not yet enthusiastic about him leading the Duck offense if Moore goes to the draft. Interesting positive sidelight is that his father, Dominic Raiola, was a Rimington award winner at Nebraska who played in the NFL for 12 years and is a current asst coach with the Detroit Lions. It's a pretty good bet that he's got a connection with Pancho, who spent a year at St Louis in Honolulu, where Dad Raiola (and MM) played. I'm more excited about the addition of Yale OT transfer Michael Bennett. He's a probable plug and play RT who grades out well in pass pro. Hopefully he will be a step quicker than Harkey was.
  3. I am going to go back and watch more of his game tape. I will be transparent, I was NOT watching him as a future Duck, just watching the game. Now, I'm invested!!
  4. After watching his 2025 highlights: Throwing motion looks a bit ragged. I'm sure good coaching can refine that. He seems to see the field (a lot) better than DM, especially when the pocket breaks down. His ceiling may be higher than we think.
  5. In Dan, I trust. In Dan, I trust. In Dan, I trust. In Dan, I ... hope I can trust? 🙃
  6. He just needs to tone down the Mahomes stuff. This is Marcus, Bo, and Justin territory. No Mahomes stuff allowed!!
  7. Anybody else notice that Bo Nix broke his ankle before transferring to Oregon and Dylan Raiola broke his fibula before transferring to Oregon. I'm not saying things will turn out the same, but after watching some highlights of him for Nebraska he seems to have the same moxie as Nix. After all, I predicted Nix would be a star at Oregon before he ever took a snap here. Look it up. (or as Cig says) Google me. Bonus stat, National Championship is in Las Vegas next year!
  8. An interesting piece in The Athletic (pay site) about Ohio State which has seen 29 players enter the portal, so far. short excerpt Why is Ohio State losing so much? Keeping depth players sidelined for multiple years doesn’t work anymore when they can get money and playing time elsewhere. But Ohio State’s commitment to developing high school players, which has been the Buckeyes’ philosophy for years, is being overhauled right now. Losing 29 players to the transfer portal is never good. That’s the equivalent of losing an entire recruiting class. On the one hand, though, there are reasons to be optimistic about next year because Ohio State is returning 9 of its 11 offensive starters, has a talented linebacker corps, and is working to add more defensive pieces in the portal with another week in the window. But there’s also the pessimistic, and possibly more realistic view, that no matter what Ohio State’s transfer portal plan is, it doesn’t matter if it can’t land the players it is recruiting. Waiting for players to enter the portal later is fine, but it puts a higher emphasis on locking them in as recruits than ever before. Ohio State doesn’t live in a “we tried” world. Expectations are too high for the Buckeyes. They need to add some impact players sooner rather than later.
  9. Still rooting for Akili Smith Jr to win QB1.
  10. Looking around at the portal rate for other top ten teams, I think it's safe to say the the era of a legit three deep is over. I wonder how this affects Lanning's coaching hires moving forward. I think prioritizing coaches that can prep players for the pros to lure elite portal players will be more important than elite recruiters of players that just portal out anyway.
  11. Ok is Dante heading to the NFL really a bad choice, knowing what often happens to top picks who go to crappy teams (Joey comes to mind)? Maybe he's good with sitting behind an experienced QB and making less bank 🤔
  12. Today
  13. I would not be surprised to see Dylan move up to QB1 with Dante Moore declaring for the NFL this week.
  14. This on the surface looks like a solid portal signing for DL. If Dante foolishly heads to the NFL or the portal then Dylan R will have to navigate the Ducks learning curve in game day, real time! He has the talent and play maker skill set and unlike Nebraska, he will have talent all around him. If. Dante returns then Dylan will have a season to learn and prepare. Now DL needs to add some future NFL O linemen and a middle linebacker and the 2026 foundation will be strong. Go Ducks and welcome Dylan!
  15. I guess I have to trust the coaches on their belief in his upside, more than what my current eyes tell me. Not my first choice, but then, I was so-so about Bo Nix when he transferred from Auburn. I will hope for a similar result!
  16. No coincidence I felt like wearing black today, ….Lanning looked like he was going to a funeral comming out onto the field…. They knew something..
  17. I threw my little tantrum about halftime of the game, and then realized that the outcome has very little bearing on my over all life. I then could only laugh and shake my head everytime something went sideways in the game. I realized that the football team from Indiana was using all their luck up, (such as when they fumbled, then recovered it after bouncing off their own linemans arms.....) I am already getting excited for next year, only concern is Dante Moore. I realize he is very young, has less then 25 starts, and hope he returns so he can learn and get much better. Ideally for 2 more years, but i don't see that happening.
  18. The rumors ended up being true. Sounds like he's willing to sit behind Dante for a year if necessary. If he's willing to be patient then so am I. Now let's see if Dante stays! Dylan Raiola Commits to Oregon in CFB Transfer Portal Ami...One of the top transfers in this year's class has decided on his next school.
  19. If this wasn't evident by the way their early miscues and fumbles bounced safely back into their possession, I don't know what to tell anyone, ha.
  20. College football’s calendar is broken — here’s how coaches want to fix itLanning is among the coaches who have expressed ideas about how to fix the calendar to help the sport find even more eyeballs, better team performances and a more pragmatic schedule for coaches in 2026 and beyond. He’s certainly not alone in his complaints about the current system, either. Talk to any head coach in college football right now, and you’ll get an earful. Some are most frustrated by the dates of the transfer portal window. Others cannot stand how the early signing period is set up. Still others advocate for more drastic changes to the entire offseason structure, pushing to duplicate organized team activities (OTAs) modeled by the NFL.
  21. They are expected to discuss two models: a 16-team field that includes five conference champions and 11 at-large teams, and another format with 24 teams. Petitti and Sankey have the bulk of control over the playoff's format in 2026 and beyond, an agreement the other commissioners and Bevacqua signed off on in 2024 during the last contract negotiations with ESPN. If the Big Ten and SEC leaders can't come to an agreement by the deadline, the playoff will remain at 12 teams. The field will now guarantee the Power 4 conference champions spots, along with the highest-ranked conference champion from the Group of 6, which now includes the revamped Pac-12. ESPN.comCFB buzz: What we're hearing about playoff expansion, con...Multiple playoff scenarios are on the table ahead of critical meetings this week.
  22. Why Oregon Ducks fans shouldn't panic over numerous DL transfers Which would you rather have: A starting defensive line that is experienced and has proven that it can be among the most productive and dominant in the nation, or a starting defensive line that consists of promising talent but little experience? The answer seems pretty obvious to me. Sure, the Ducks lost a handful of guys who would have played valuable roles on next year's team, and replacing them won't be easy. But they also got a foursome of potential first and second-round picks to agree to come back for one more year. That's not easy to do, and the upside that it brings to this defense is immeasurable.
  23. Recapping a Sunday whirlwind of Oregon returns, portal exits, recruiting action On Sunday, the Oregon Ducks had 10 players enter the portal, 3 key starters announce they're returning, 1 new transfer commit, and a crystal ball pick for one of the most high-profile portal players available. Duckterritory.com breaks down al of Sunday's developments.
  24. I stand by my assessment while there, 60:1 ratio IU to Oregon fans. All the above made a perfect storm, coupled with previous CFP game for them being the Rose Bowl and this the first one within easy striking distance. When I close my eyes, I can still hear the damn “Hoo, hoo, hoo, Hoosiers!” chant…
  25. For the last three years, the Ducks have come up short in the biggest rematches. In 2023, it was the rematch against Washington in the Pac-12 Championship Game where the Ducks came up short and lost out on the College Football Playoff. It wasn’t the most embarrassing of the three rematch losses, but it hurt most because it was to ... Dan Lanning Needs to Change His Rematch Mentality
  26. In terms of two deep, offensively so far so good (though Perry would probably have been considered part of the two deep at WR). Defensively, I've got several depatures off the two deep. Purchase and Porter at DE and Jack LB, Gray at DT, Austin at NB, and Laulea at CB. I imagine the staff would have liked to hold onto Jericho Johnson too (but that is just a hunch). It is just college football at this moment. Teams at or above "blue chip" roster levels (50% or better 4/5 stars) have typically seen departures of young players in the NIL/portal era so far, this year: Ohio State 29, Michigan 27, LSU 32, Texas 22, Alabama 21, Oklahoma 25, USC 20, and so on. I didn't study it, but I would imagine part of the reason USC took 35 commits, Georgia 30, ND 29, tOSU 28, Miami 30, Florida State 33, Tennessee 27 was a "net negative" portal flow the last couple cycles. 25 leaving Oregon won't be that bad if that's the bulk of it (I've got 22 if we are just counting players listed as commits and not from all 105 but it's been a wild day so I might have missed somebody). Overall, running the current roster as of tonight (plus the incoming recruits), I think Oregon's "blue chip" ratio actual has crept up two points. I think the bigger issue to watch is if Oregon can find sufficient guys in the portal to get its roster numbers where it probably would like them to be. I imagine the staff would still like to be at or over 85 (not counting "invite/walk-on" guys like Grace, Quinn, and Wiepert who make the whole 105). With the two additions and new commits, I think the number is currently 73? Finding and landing 11-12 or more will be interesting to watch.
  27. One beautiful aspect of sports is that our teams don't always win. Just like life. It gives us a chance to reflect and grow. We are not bad people because OBD lost to Indiana, nor were we inherently better when we zeroed Texas Tech. Life simply goes on. With that said, I'd love it if there were zero opportunities for reflection next year. Go Ducks!
