  3. I'll absolutely admit that I wasn't expecting Oregon to be up 49-3 with 12+ minutes to go in the 3rd Quarter. And I did not expect to see Moore put up 14/18, 279 yards, 4 TDs... in the first half. And what a nice gift it was to get so many backup players in for some decent PT experience. Just an excellent bounce back game, on the road, 3,000 miles, and 3 time zones away from home.
  4. Give It Up for Bo, who didn't give up and set an NFL record! 👍👌😍 https://duckswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/ducks/football/2025/10/19/oregon-ducks-bo-nix-nfl-history-denver-broncos/86794367007/?utm_source=smg-duckswire-strada&utm_medium=email&utm_
  5. David thank you for the article and placing some focus on the dominating play of OBD's defense....... Most national articles written just rave about the 750 yards of offense and all the long runs and TD passes. Deservably earned...... However, The D just kept giving the O the ball back time and time again. After the Duck turnover on the 3rd play of the game, the D gave up ZERO yards and set the tone for the rest of the game. When DL came to Oregon, this is the kind of D play that I hoped for. Chaos and havoc (just like my first wife) resulting in 3 picks, 3 sacks, multiple TFL's, tipped balls at LOS, tight coverage all day. Just wreck the opponent like my ex did! The only way to improve on this is to shut out Whisky and put some points on the board. Aren't we due for a scoop and score? Go Ducks....
  6. I agree those were great catches on slightly overthrown passes, but I love the fact that our receivers are making great catches the standard. I was very surprised that Moore #1 mishandled a punt, I do not think I had seen him miss any ball that was remotely catchable this year.
  7. Any coach that wants to move into the top echelons of college football has to consistently have the NIL money to consistently recruit in the top five to ten, and create an environment where top transfers want to play. Texas is a good example of how to spend money, but is Sarkisian the right guy? Huge NIL payroll and currently ranked just inside the top 25 can’t be endearing him to the big money boosters. With the amount coaches are paid, and the huge investment in players, winning 9 to 10 games is not enough to maintain job security. Especially when boosters expect their investment in coaching salaries, and NIL to have immediate returns. Welcome to a strange new monopoly game. Where the boosters buy coaches, and players, but do not own the product. Good luck.

  10. Thank you David for the information about our defense, as I had watched this QB and Rutgers in two earlier games, and while I thought the 'Knights' pass defense was lacking....that QB was pretty good. Our defense made him look average, and I was pretty surprised. I love the article, as everyone is thinking offense without recalling the impact the defense made on this game. IMHO...the interception by Aaron Flowers was actually caused by another tipped pass at the LOS. Sometimes a defensive lineman doesn't block the ball, but touching the football as it is going by and he tips or pushes it slightly upward. I believe this happened as I noted the ball path and trajectory changed and sailed high past the LOS, which allowed for the Flowers pick. Flowers did not make an extraordinary play; the ball came to him. I say this to give the defensive line that much more credit. They had a heck of a game!
  11. I have made reference to him a few times on the forum, as I believe he is the classic diamond-in-the-rough that could shine for us. And he is a state of Oregon player, of which makes it more appealing. For those who are thinking it....yeah, Coach Waz knows all about him and would love him to play Baseball. But he came here for football! These walk-ons might be THE quarterback recruiting strategy in the future; get experienced portal transfer QBs and back them up with savvy walk-ons. I mean honesty...if your stud QB goes down--you are screwed anyway. I will also admit that a quarterback recruiting strategy is still evolving for coaches, and for us to understand.
  12. I don't get the fascination with Jedd Fisch. He has exactly 1 winning season as a FBS head coach. I have him as TBD.
  13. I will never-ever forget Mario's first play called as Oregon Head coach. In case you don't remember, after about 3 weeks off to prepare for our bowl game, Mario's first call was a timeout BEFORE the kickoff to start the game. My then 17 year old son looked at me and said: "Well, that doesn't exactly bode well now, does it." Truer words...
  14. Wilsonville is a sports powerhouse in the state of Oregon at the 5A level. They and Summit are the two schools fighting for state titles. Wilsonville have won back to back 5A football titles. With being a 2 sport athlete, it can be hard to go to all the camps where recruiting scouts go to evaluate players. I'm glad our coaches were able to see the potential with him.
  15. Great point. As you may recall, Herbert was a 3 star QB because he didn't play his junior year (broken leg), and basically nobody knew who he was (and he didn't do the camps). He hardly had any offers and none from top tier programs... until at the last minute when Oregon seemed to suddenly realize that we were desperate for QBs (not to mention that fact that Marcus was as a 3 star well). Due to the fact that Wiepert came from a relatively smaller school, and it sounds like he didn't focus on the QB role until his senior year, maybe we do have another secret-stud QB waiting in the wings (pun intended). One thing for certain is that he is clearly a serious stud athlete.

  20. Thanks, DM, another winner. The photos are terrific. 247 Sports Cumulative Roster Rankings - Oklahoma State 49, Rutgers 53, Oregon State 60. Yet, as you so noted, up to Saturday, Greg Schiano was getting more out of the Rutger's roster, by far, than Mike Gundy (adios), and Trent Bray (sayonara.) The other coaches in the conference have to be really happy about inviting OBD to the party. 😁 I shouldn't go there, but coming into the season, Cig's roster was a not so smoking 72. 😧 When you have Oregon's talent and it's working together - 😍😍😍 Thanks again. Blast Bucky!
  21. It is amazing what a week after a tough loss can do, as the Ducks didn’t let Rutgers get close to handing them a second loss. Sure, Rutgers doesn’t sit atop the Big Ten rankings; they aren’t even a ranked team, but they are certainly a better team than Oregon State and Oklahoma State (which Oregon disposed of with relative ... 22. That's a crazy resume for just 1 player to hold. I'm going to guess his 3 star status as a QB is simply because he hasn't been doing that position long, otherwise he might have been a 4. Should be really interesting to see how he develops over the next 2 years.
  23. I'm glad OBD responded the way they did against Rutgers. I was counting on it happening based on my score prediction, though I obviously did not give enough credit to the defense (I had Rutgers scoring 21, mostly in garbage time). Overall it was obviously a dominating effort. However there are still a couple things to nitpick: Dante's overthrowing his long range passes somewhat. The 3 TDs he tossed to Sadiq and Wittington all required them to make a diving catch to complete despite not having defenders around them. Sadiq's 2nd TD catch ended up re-aggravating the ankle he injured in the previous game. Kicking team has missed multiple FG attempts against Indiana and Rutgers, that really needs to be improved.
  24. Some thoughts not mentioned above. Thomas looks to be having a lot of fun in garbage time. I suspect Lanning/Stein are not having Thomas throw passes because they don’t want an appearance of running up the score, and the same would apply to the other quarterbacks. The basic stuff OBD run during mop up time is not much prep for replacing the starting QB. One or more of the backup quarterbacks is running the scout team. It was my job as a 3rd backup QB in high school, 1956, before film of an opponent was even a dream, to meet with the two coaches who were sent to scout the next team on the schedule and study the formation they used and some of their plays. Then our scout team would do a walk through with our defense. With all the film available today that may no longer be the process, but if scout teams are still being used, one or more of the four Duck backups are filling that role.
  25. Maybe so but somebody is going to have to beat Texas A&M first.
  26. Miami and Los Angeles don't have fans. They have occasional spectators who show up for only the glitzy matchups. Schedule Notre Dame , Michigan, or Ohio State and it will be packed. That could also be due to several alumni living in those cities. All you have to do is go compare the Super Bowl celebrations. When the Rams won in 2022 it wasn't packed. When the Chiefs, Bucs, and Eagles won you had packed streets or boats in Tampa. Terrible fan-bases. USC and Miami are also private schools with many snobs. They wouldn't sully their hands mingling with us common folk.
  27. Yeah, just trying to guess at what makes sense? I could see Stein getting one of the 200 jobs opening up and taking Novosad to help jump start installing his offense. Keeping open the option of a second redshirt year ends up being a tip of the cap to both guys. Moga must have a lingering injury they don't want risk unless absolutely necessary. Could completely be wrong 🙂
