Great post, but even with a 'flattened out' field, one of the usual suspects, a team in the PO committee's top 6 in its final poll, will win the 2025-26 Natty. And this time, the team ranked 6th will not be the 8-seed. ASU could have and should have, but for a not-called targeting penalty, defeated Texas in the 2nd PO round. But would ASU have won two more games to win it all? Until it happens, the Usual Suspects, plus move-over OBD, with the resources and Dan to capitalize on the same, will win it all. More than ever, capital in CFB counts and then some.

That and a ton of 5 and 6th year guys that Chris Petersen recruited. There is a trend post COVID season. Teams while the oldest rosters were the ones that seemed to win the national title or get closest to it. Those rosters that maintained the old guys for that extra year had the best chance of winning it all. Michigan and Washington make the case... Both rosters were LOADED with 5th and 6th year guys. The Georgia teams that won back to back national titles were loaded with senior talent. This is the last year of the covid shirt... And things might just break wide open because the amount of players who are still from the COVID era is super small now.

I'd say no to both. Cristobal does have a sense of loyalty. He refused to interview for the Miami job when it came open the first time while at Oregon. Yeah, he ran for the job the second time but it's his dream job. He has the program going the way he wants and I would be shocked if he ditched it for Bama. And as for Sark... At this time I think Texas might be more talented than Bama. He has the donors and all the NIL he could ever want. He's built his program so why start over? What makes the Bama job so good is that it has the resources but does does every other major program. What's the difference between Bama and Texas right now? Only the expectation to be as good as Nick Saban at Bama. I'm not sure Nick Saban could meet their standards anymore. The field has flattened out at the top.

How good is he at blocking??? Maybe he is so good at running that the previous two years he was utilized so much in spite of lack of development in that area??? I actually assume he knows how to block, but the fact is, I don't know.

What I'm wondering about is... How will a bad year affect the current recruiting class? Oregon and Alabama are "tied" with 5 - 5*s apiece. If DL can flip one of those 5*s, Oregon will be in undisputed first place for them. How much in a twist would THAT put the Alabama fans in?????

Is it because of an Intelligence Quotient failure or abject apathy? Player: Coach, I have my dough, so I don't know, and I don't care. 😁 As noted above, Saban bailed for a reason. When the only over-the-table money came from the NFL, no matter what your incoming number of stars, players balled out. Today, you recruit players with competitive zeal, with the love of the game, no matter the money, or the effort may not be there. How would I have handled being 17 or 18 with millions of dollars in the bank: 🤪! It's not just Bama losing that was so out of Saint Nick's Bama team's character; it was the lack of effort and being smash-mouthed in the process. We saw this movie last season vs. Vandy, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Michigan, four teams that on paper shouldn't have had a chance. Perhaps Bama runs the table, or at least loses only one more game, and makes the PO with a win or two? I don't see it.

A major lack of desire. They didn't look like they were interested in defending their legacy, much less put a foot up FSU's behind for talking smack before the season started. They expected to walk in and dominate, and when FSU was taking it to them, they didn't respond. It took a late fumble for them to get back in the game, and when their defense started putting in effort, it didn't last when FSU responded (FSU wanted that win way more-it was totally evident the entire game).

Seems to me that in all sports theres a lot of players that are ranked high at a lower level but when they get with the higher level players certain truths come out.

Probably because he was brought in and paid a lot of money. He thought he had it made and when he didn't automatically get it he pouted a little bit but not enough to get suspended and this was kind of a lesson. I cannot imagine he is so bad as to only get a couple of chances.

I read elsewhere that Lanning said Hughes was in for run play calls, then QB Moore checked out of the run play to a pass play due to defensive alignment. Perhaps that makes sense if Montana State was aligning on defense for a run once they saw Hughes substitute in. Puzzling to be sure, I get the managed reps thing but Penn State is less than a month away and I would think game time reps in this system would be pretty important before then. That said, damn we got a stable of backs with or without Hughes.

That really was not an answer, but a coachspeak deflection from what is reality...of which we do not know. Could he be dinged up? Possible, but it that worth hiding? Could it be that he is not as good as hoped? I doubt that as well, so I have no idea what is going on.
