It seems about right I think? NFL betting obviously is known to give the home team 3. I have read home field in college is usually viewed different, with 3 being the baseline but the actual number being between 2 and 6 points. Way back in the day when I used to always grab it (maybe 1998-2008) Phil Steele on top of each team page put that number (if anyone had a good idea what that number actually was, it was probably Phil). Autzen was usually around a 6 point home edge. I'd imagine Penn State has a similar home field number. I haven't exactly read a number given to the development of teams traveling across the whole country for a regular conference game; but, consensus seems to be it's incorporated. Let's say an additional 2.0 points West to East and 1.5 points East to West. Maybe it is more a "situational factor" in pro lines; but, there has to be something greater recognizing Oregon or USC traveling to Penn State is just different than Rutgers or Maryland traveling to Penn State for college kids. So, you figure if both teams travel equal distances and play at a neutral field it would be Oregon maybe about -4.5 (currently PSU -3.5 favorite but without getting the 6 + 2 point bump). Maybe a funny way to look at it but Oregon does appear a neutral site favorite 🤷‍♂️

I have read in a couple places, the going rate to get a five star to visit is $10,000 (if the staff wants an in-person opportunity to steal them). I believe individual recruit's official visits are now unlimited as long as they remain one each per school. If a recruit visits and commits to a place (like Oregon) and shuts it down, he is most likely leaving some large bags on the table. Plus skipping out on several all-expenses paid lavish weekends (and the chance to see some games). 🤷‍♂️ It's good to be a five-star.

That’s still not official, the same “reported” story we’ve been hearing about for a week..but not announced by either school yet. They keep quoting themselves as a source. Seems like if there was actually an agreement it would have been announced by now.

I disagree, because Penn State never had an answer for Tez and Sadiq to a lesser extent in his breakout game. They took some risks on some plays because they felt pressure to score and because of those two takeaways which were absolutely the QB's decisions to make the Ducks out Penn State into a position they were forced to play by Oregon's rules. Match them score for score. Our run defense sucked... But we also did a pretty good job at times forcing field goals that game. Penn State went for 2 after a TD to try and get a point back from missing out on a TD and the Ducks stopped it I recall. This game is going to come down to who forces the other team to play their game. If it becomes a Penn State burning clock rock fight the Ducks will probably lose something like 27-24. But if Oregon gets some tempo and turns it into a Duck football game. The advantage goes to the Ducks as I'm not sure that offense from Penn State can keep up.

Absolutely. Teams go vanilla to now show any wrinkles they don't want to put on film, to a degree after all there is LOTS of tape out there for what most coaches have done in past seasons. In the case of Penn State they have their starting QB and RBs and a good chunk of their offensive line. I'd expect them to run most of the same stuff they did last year, minus the wrinkles for Tyler Warren. So the notion they're playing badly so false. If they were playing well they'd blow the doors off their competition earlier and faster and put out the second and third string and they'd keep running the score up. It's what Oregon did to Montana State and Oklahoma this year. We executed at a high level with caring degrees of interesting offense and then threw in the subs and they went to work.

I know some of you could care less whether this rivalry game continues, but as an old PAC-whatever league fan (I go all the way back to the Pacific Coast Conference), I am a traditionalist and am pleased that it will continue. Plus, given the way college football has changed, it will likely be a Duck win for the foreseeable future.

I was hoping for all yellow. I'm worried our white jerseys will blend in with the crowd and make it hard to find our receivers down field. But, by same token, maybe the db's will have a hard time finding our receivers too!

I love it. A little "Raideresque"like our winning the B1G championship. Plus, it's very threatening, 'the curse of the mummy' and all that. Mummy Duck shoes, wraps, etc. In a 'white out' no less. I think this is brilliant. Everyone wear GREEN. GO Ducks. Kill the Lion!

Section 4, Article 5, Paragraph 3 of the NCAA Football Rule Book, the NCAA prohibits the home team from wearing "away" whites at home. 2. The visiting team shall wear white jerseys; however, the home team may wear white jerseys if the teams have agreed in writing before the season 3. If the home team wears colored jerseys, the visiting team may also wear colored jerseys, if and only if the following two conditions have been satisfied: The home team has agreed in writing prior to the game; and The conference of the home team certifies that the jersey of the visiting team is of a contrasting color Coach Franklin in 2019: "First of all, part of the White Out is the contrast. It helps us if everybody else is in white, it makes our players stand out on the field for our quarterback and those types of things. That's the first thing," Franklin said.. "The other thing is, we can't wear white at home. There's NCAA rules. We can't show up and wear whatever we want to wear. We would have to get permission from the opposing team to allow us (to) wear white, and I would never do that for anybody else, so we haven't even kind of gone that route." When Penn St hosted SMU in the opening round CFP game, SMU wore all white - jersey, pants, helmet. It was a daylight game. It was PSU's second white-out game of the 2024 season.

Tried to like these, but man, the uniforms seem like a whiff this time around. What's up with the mummy theme? Are mummies a big thing with young people? Brings back bad memories of the Mandrake fail. Seems like more of a distraction than added value. Disappointing for the biggest football event of the year. Oh well, if we can pull out a W I'm sure I will love them. And maybe they'll feed into DL's theme of "Play the game, not the occasion." Go Ducks!

I was hoping for the all white Stormtrooper look. Like the ones we blew the doors off the Trojans with. A close second would have been the all yellow like we beat Michigan State with. Oh well, a guy can dream! Go Ducks, tame the Lions!

What about all-Yellow? Or… A GREEN dominant uniform to make us stand out, while being true to our colors? (Green Helmet, green pants and shoes, with white jersey and green accents?) It is quite possible…

This is not going to be a popular opinion, but Penn State lost that championship game more than Oregon won it. Oregon had no answer for their running attack in that game. They ran for 297 yards and were averaging almost 9 yards per carry. I still have no idea why they decided to throw the ball 40 times. Not only that, a lot of those were low percentage throws on mid to long range shots and they put the ball at risk, which resulted in 2 picks and a 50% completion percentage. If they take some of those high risk throws back and run the ball or turn them into shorter, higher completion percentage throws, I think Penn State wins that game. I hope Oregon has found an answer for that run game. Based on what I have seen so far this year, I am not optimistic. It will be interesting to see if Penn State learns from that last game and just pounds it down Oregon’s throat and throws it more like 15-20 times. If so, Oregon might be in trouble.

They don’t want to go all white. It would blend into the crowd from the field level. Penn State fans did a white-out for the B1G Championship Game. They took up roughly 75% of Lucas Oil Stadium. Black contrasted well during that game.

On another thread this was the combo I predicted. So called it! But also... What times will the lights go out for the glow in the dark go into effect? Isn't that when Penn State scores? That doesn't feel like a smart move.

That's true however they also had 275 passing yards and 17 first downs. Against us 4 of their 8 first downs were on their one scoring drive. So that leaves 4 first downs the entire rest of the game.

Perhaps, referencing the wrong QB. I think losing Warren has forced him to find another clutch receiver for must have yardage. DM has at least three, very reliable targets available. That may be a large determining factor in winning the game.
