Which is Worse: A Bye or Beavis?
I would agree with you David. Except later in the season a bye is good to rest the bodies from a very physical sport. It gives some a chance to allow dings to heal especially before a big game opponent. Too.bad the Ducks have a lot of games with opponents have that chance to rest before playing our Ducks.

Which is Worse: A Bye or Beavis?
Bye... At least the Ducks get to play a real game and go through the real motions and hit people. Hard to reach tackling when you don't tackle to the ground. Only way to reasonably get those reps is in a game.

Time To Raise the White Flag On the Civil War
As long as Oregon wants 7 home games each year, the home-and-home with Oregon State limits their options for other Power4 opponents which also want to schedule home-and-home. In a season with 4 Big Ten home games, and a game with OSU at Autzen, that means 2 other non-conference games have to be at Autzen to get to 7. Then, the following year when Oregon has 5 Big Ten home games and Oregon State is a road game, that still means the other 2 games have to be at Autzen to get to 7. So, which Power 4 school wants to play at Autzen 2 years in a row rather than home-and-home so the non-conference game with the Beavers stays home-and-home, and Oregon keeps 7 home games? Iowa plays Iowa State every year non-conference, home-and-home, and Iowa's last Power4 opponent other than ISU was Pitt. But, it was the year before the Big Ten went to a 9-game schedule. Logistically, 9 Big Ten games, and desire for 7 home games, means an annual home-and-home with OSU would limit games with other Power4 non-conference programs. Oregon would be better off, in my opinion, to avoid annual games with OSU and schedule non-conference home-and-home with Utah, Cal, Arizona, ASU - locations where Oregon has alums as fans, and coaches desire to recruit. Games with the Beavers could still occur but just less often in lieu of playing UU, UA, ASU, Cal in that slot.

Which is Worse: A Bye or Beavis?
30Duck brought this up on the phone; a bye for Penn State, after playing three cupcakes, doesn’t help them. On the other hand, playing Beavis has dubious value, as an intersquad scrimmage would be tougher. I think the Bye is worse, but I’m curious if other Duck-Buddies feel the same? So he posed that question to me—which is worse? The Bye or Beavis?

You're Dan Lanning: What Do YOU Want From Oregon on Saturday?
A pound of Beaver flesh. Plus turnovers. Heavy OL line push. Stingy DL play. No injuries.

You're Dan Lanning: What Do YOU Want From Oregon on Saturday?
I want Dan to walk away from this game saying "Boys, I think were ready for Penn State".

What I want out of this game is for Dante, all of our starters, to be done at halftime.

Jurrion Dickey Finds a New Home, Diablo Valley (Junior) College...and Then Moves AGAIN?
Wichita was a major disappointment after his injury... Former Cali Prep athlete of the year who had personal bests of 20.8 @ 200m/10.5 @ 100m. At Cordova HS, Wilhite had 4902 yards rushing and 70+ tds as a RB. His career at Oregon was disappointing after he suffered a massive hamstring tear his hs senior track campaign, followed by multiple injuries his freshman campaign with the Ducks.

Oregon’s Perimeter Blocking is Much Improved
All of those things help in the same way that a good screen game will help all of those other things. It’s a symbiotic relationship.

Time To Raise the White Flag On the Civil War
The Beavs are now basically the equivalent of playing PSU... and no insult to PSU intended. Everything has changed so much that, frankly, the only reason I can see the game regularly continuing is if it's totally to the benefit of OBD.

This one is longer, but explains a ton using Oregon's Jamaree Caldwell as the example for defensive line performance. Good stuff!

This first one is Jon Gruden explaining "techniques" on defense, and is quite helpful.

Ah yes, the oregon legislature. Forgot about that, good point.

Time To Raise the White Flag On the Civil War
Getting picked last was more metaphorical, but if they had to get picked, it would have been tied for "last" with WSU. Joining the new Pac-12 is certainly being picked last, in spirit. True, that would a definite road experience.

25-35 point beatdowns if they're lucky. Might see an Oklahoma Statle like beat down. Oooooh those OSUs!

Oregon’s Perimeter Blocking is Much Improved
The bubble works best when we are playing fast, the running game is potent, and QB can throw to all levels of the field. Ross Douglas, the wide receivers coach, has the receivers running crisp routes, and blocking at a high level. Considering all the new faces on offense, we are far from playing our best game this season.

I here ya. But, yeah, I'd like to see us play other teams.
