Poor Rushing Defense: How Realistic Are We?
I believe Haloti and his wife have 3 sons. Ages 16 (TE and OLB), 13 and 11. The 16 year old has offers from Utah, BYU, SDSU, Colorado St and Osewe.

More Surprises: Oregon Linebacker Jerry Mixon...Big-10 Defensive Player of the Week?
Boy...I did not see this upside development coming at all! Can you believe his PFF numbers below? Mixon Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon inside linebacker Jerry Mixon was announced as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for his performance in the Ducks' 34-14 win at Northwestern last Saturday. It is the first career Big Ten honor for Mixon and the first for a Duck this season. Mixon continued his breakout start to his junior season in Oregon's Big Ten opener, recording an interception for the second game in a row while matching his career high with five tackles and adding a tackle for loss. He returned the interception 36 yards to set up the Ducks' fourth touchdown of the game. Mixon became the first Duck since Khyree Jackson in 2023 to pick off a pass in back-to-back games. He is tied for sixth nationally and first in the Big Ten with two interceptions and his 62 interception return yards are No. 12 in the country. On the season, Mixon is No. 1 among qualified FBS linebackers with a 91.5 overall defensive grade from Pro Football Focus, and his 92.7 pass coverage grade ranks second among all linebackers. The San Francisco native owns a career-high 10 tackles through three games, and he made his first career start in the season opener against Montana State. Mixon and the No. 6 Ducks (3-0, 1-1 Big Ten) will wrap nonconference play with an in-state showdown against Oregon State on Saturday in Autzen Stadium. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.

Minot State is coached by an Oregon native and former Civil War winning OSU Beaver QB named Ian Shields. He was also the OSAA player of the year in 1988.

I think the question is, who is willing to take the job? They are not competitive in NIL, they are allegedly $200M in the red, they have no fan support, their practice field is 60 yards long, their stadium is 45 minutes from campus, and they can’t get 30k fans to show up to their games. The only reason to take that job IMO, is for a short-term money grab. I don’t think anyone could look at that situation and think that it is going to elevate their profile as a coach.

Poor Rushing Defense: How Realistic Are We?
I think that there is a concern for run D, particularly with the YAC we saw against NW. A few thoughts: Admittedly a big chunk of the yardage was in garbage time, and padded by the 79 yd run against the 2s and 3s. If the sacks and big butterfinger TFL by Stone are subtracted, there was still significant YPC for the NW RBs. This was even apparent in the first half while the starters were in. It is something to address, and I'm confident that DL and TL will take it to the 'doctor' this week. On the flip side, running the ball was NW's game plan as the only way they could hope to keep the game close was to slow it down, run clock (their TOP was 5 min longer than OBD) and keep the ball out of Dante's hands. Oregon let some of that go and made sure the NW passing game was ineffective. And ineffective it was, held to 135 yds on 50% completion rate, 3/11 on 3rd downs, 2 sacks, two picks, a big TFL and no penalties (though the 1st pick could have been a PI and would have been with the old PAC12 crews). The one stinker was on Offord, and that was a rookie error that can be corrected. Point is that the run game D had some concerns that the NW game plan amplified. It did the Ducks a favor by exposing an area of relative weakness and focus for clean up before Happy Valley in two weeks. Hopefully we will see it cleaned up significantly against the Beavs Saturday.

The Ducks Have a Problem with Run Defense
I’ll just say again that Florida International (house of pancakes) rushed for almost 150 in a blowout loss at Penn State. Do we think PSU will be easy to run against?

Since this is a career ending job, they need to be targeting a different demographic of coaches. A good head coach near retirement that always wanted to live in SoCal.

GOLD? Never seen that color on the ducks. It's disorienting. We look like UCF. Reminds me how the Webfoot unis were blue and made us look like Cal. I'm kind of glad we are wearing these for this game that nobody will be watching except Oregonians.

The Ducks Have a Problem with Run Defense
Charles OMG on the GIF..anyways..y is a loss I think it's a bit cat and mouse with the DL getting skinny trying to get into the backfield to be disruptive vs staying low and stonewalling and hogging OL at the LOS. We are really good at the former but not so great at the latter. If the other team can get 4-6 yards a carry, but every 3rd carry is a loss then maybe it's still worth it

Not my favorite either. It's another funeral color like the PSU white. But I guess as long as it sings the swan song of the opponent... I hope we never get into poop brown! 🤞

Oregon QB Dante Moore's Classy Move After Win Shows True Colors
Looks like Dante will be ready for the PSU game. Definitely the right way to break into a newish QB, much better than how CJ Carr has experienced so far at Notre Dame...

A Little Duck Humor at the Expense of the BEAVERS
Beavers are a special animal. Their ability to terraform land is second to none. Studies have shown the most effective solution to increase plant life and wetland in threatened habitats is to leave the construction equipment at home and just drop off a pair of beavers.

Poor Rushing Defense: How Realistic Are We?
Jordon Scott may have been the most important defender on the 2019 defense, the way he could seemingly stonewall 3 OL at once and swipe away the ball from the center before it got to the QB at key moments. Definitely an unsung hero. We definitely don't have one of those guys on our team this year, 330+ with a low center of gravity and strong as an ox.

You make an excellent point. It seemed odd to me how far off he was with that throw, so I think you just took the mystery out of it for me.

The Ducks Have a Problem with Run Defense
My sincere apologies to David Marsh, as I started another big thread about this topic yesterday, before the publication of his article. I did not know the subject of his article until well after I began the other thread. But, what I like is how he brings more facts and information to the topic, to make the case stronger versus what I was writing. The basis of every defense is to stop the run, but in some cases....we may have to outscore teams. But it is hard when the opposing B1G team can grind the ground and the clock, and severely limit the number of possessions Oregon will have to score. My curiosity is whether our issues come from technique at the LOS that can be improved, the scheme itself, or simply a ton of defenders playing together for the first time? In the defensive backfield, we have three starters from the portal, along with two corners who are RS and true freshmen. We have three new starters on the defensive line, so perhaps there is some learning curve with the whole defense...that could grow into something special? However we cannot measure progress against Beavis this Saturday, as they are not a good indicator.

2025 Football Poll Rankings
3. OregonKlatt's take: Saw Oregon in person, and I was impressed. They are going to need to defend the run a lot better than they did against Northwestern, but still, overall, that offense can be explosive. And their quarterback, Dante Moore, might be — might be — one of the better if not the best quarterback in the country. Joel Klatt's College Football Rankings: OSU Still No. 1, What's Wrong With Texas?

What's in a name? Take a look at this. California 34 OSU Beavers 15 Fresno St. 36 OSU Beavers 27 Texas Tech 45 OSU Beavers 14 Bemidji St. is a school in Minnesota. Yep, their mascot is the BEAVERS! Michigan Tech 37 Bemidji St. Beavers 17 Winona St. 21 Bemidji St. Beavers 17 Sioux Falls 56 Bemidji St. Beavers 23 Minot St. is a school in North Dakota. And their school name is BEAVERS! Emporia St. 27 Minot St. Beavers 7 Minnesota St. 34 Minot St. Beavers 16 Concordia- 27 Minot St. Beavers 21 St. Paul You'd think they might want to change the Beaver name to something else. The beaver belongs to the rodent order Rodentia. These include the Kangaro rats and mice and gophers. If they don't like these names they might include the Nutria.
