  4. This GIF reminded me of a little bit of off topic trivia. Today is Nick Saban’s birthday. How did I know? Lane Kiffin mentioned it in an interview.
  5. I hear you but with Helfrich I think it was a deeper feeling that the program was regressing and there was little change of a turnaround under his “leadership.” Recruiting was in the toilet, IIRC. It was evident that Helfrich was a great evaluator of QBs and a good offensive mind but he was not head coach material. There is nothing wrong with that and he seems to be doing well now on TV.
  6. Nice to see Kwame Evans rebound from 2 points, 4 rebounds, and 0 assists in 20 minutes versus Utah to 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists in 26 minutes versus Stanford. It would be helpful if Evans, former composite five star (#15 nationally), now a junior, could become a reliable 12/8/4 guy this year to go along with Bittle and Shelstad. Former Duke/Ohio State PF Sean Stewart (also a 2023 composite five star and #17 nationally) had a nice game with 15 on 6-8 from the floor to go along with 4 boards. Seems like Texas transfer SF Devon Pryor (who pulled himself out of the NBA draft but was worked out by the Blazers in May) is off to a slow start, 5 points in 27 minutes against Utah and 0 points in 26 minutes against Stanford. Altman should have both a fair degree of talent and upperclassmen in 2025 (plus a pair of international additions). It seems like a tournament bid, with no more major injuries, should about be the floor? Way off?

  8. The loudest and most obnoxious voices on many football forums (Ducks or otherwise) don't know as much about football as they think they do. I remember when I first started posting on FishDuck (before the forum when we just had conversations under the articles) that I was always cautious in making any comments because I didn't feel like I knew as much as others. I mean, I still know that I know nothing (thanks Socrates) but I am fine being corrected when I get something wrong. I have a friend and colleague in the social studies department who is the offensive line and offensive coordinator for the school's football team. I took him with me to the Montana State game and he at least was kind enough to say that I know more than pretty much everyone around us screaming for deep balls. So I'll take that. Now I'm writing a weekly article and some of them are good and I think have valuable insights. You probably know more than you think you do and the loudest voices tend to know less than they believe they do as well. Your insights Woundedknees are always welcome.
  9. Predicting the last four games = all W's. I'm thinking the same but probably with 2 uclers Predicting Oregon's Four Remaining Regular Season Games Of 2025
  10. Not much to learn from the ladies 77 point victory. Five items of note from Oregon women's basketball's 113-36 exhibition win over Western Oregon For the men, great that it was an exhibition Sloppy Ducks drop exhibition finale on the road at Stanford
  11. I honestly cant remember the last time I posted on another Duck forum... I used to want multiple sites including several where I observed Ser PoissonCanard was reviled on multiple occasions.(myself on a lesser basis... I dont understand football well enough to back up my position with logical, factual, reasoning to make a dent in the arguments of most guys who have played the game) I enjoy the general comraderie found here on a daily basis.
  12. I would call this "Finebaum's Nightmare" " Imagine a world where Florida, Auburn, and LSU are in a landfill of mediocrity. When out of the sky a program with 700 losses is beating Alabama and Georgia to win a third straight championship for the B1G. Coming this Winter, Curt Cignetti presents Finebaum's New Nightmare!!!
  13. We still have coaches on a pretty short leash. Helfrich wasn't given the anywhere near the same amount of wiggle room Bellotti got. Cristobal brought in highly ranked classes which bought him some room and he got a freebe from the 2020 season. Yes we won the Pac-12 but if that was a full season I think we would have been. Quite disappointed at the level we were with the 2021 season. Cristobal does just good enough to bring hope.. Lanning has done a fantastic job in all parts of the program. But I think Oregon fans are only two under performing seasons away from calling for his head. Fan bases have absolutely zero patience and ADs feel a lot of pressure especially from boosters. If Uncle Phil is happy then Lanning is safe more than anything. He'd be one of the people to pay the buyout if it ever comes to that. With all that said... I really really really hope it never comes to that. I'm just being realistic as looking at some other Duck forums out there are calling for coaches to be fired after a couple bad performances. Our fan base is really not too different than that of LSU, Penn State or Florida. Just FishDuck is a nice little corner of the fan base. Remember... My posting privileges have been banned elsewhere for posting a FishDuck article that a few angry fans didn't like.

  15. My worst memory was CK replying to a "Would you leave Oregon" question with, "Is there an opening in TAHITI"?
  16. I remember the relief we all felt when Chip announced he was staying at Oregon after the Fiesta Bowl win against Kansas State. However, Chip always had that One-foot-out-the-door vibe to him. https://www.foxsports.com/stories/other/sources-chip-kelly-staying-at-oregon

  18. Yeah that's the question mark. When Dante first committed I was pretty stoked because I felt he was the most "experienced" of the top 5 QBs in that class since he had started all 4 years of high school. So maybe he would've been ready after a year of sitting behind Bo or maybe not. The only benefit of that time in UCLA was that it forced Dante to realize that he needed to re-evaluate the way he was making choices and that holding a clipboard for the first year wasn't a bad thing. Probably a touch of hubris that caused him to think he deserved a starter role right out of high school, which obviously isn't uncommon among blue chips.
  19. Thank you, Doctor. But then why expose the QB to sacks in a downpour instead of running the ball? Why hang the O-line out to dry? 😁 Will was not prepared in the 1st quarter against DeBoer in the conference champ game vs. UW. Great job coming back to take a lead that, unfortunately, the defense could not protect. The offense rolled from the start against inferior OOC opponents, but against B1G opponents, with, unlike Rutgers, a semblance of a defense? What do I know? Not much. But I see no reason why Will should be near the front of the line for new head coach jobs. His game planning against 'real' P4 opponents has been lacking. As has been his in-game ability to switch gears as the game so demands. However, 7-1 is 7-1. But three of the next four games, with two on the road, should be against teams ranked by the PO committee Tuesday night. The only team with a winning record OBD has defeated to date is 5-3 Northwestern. Win the Bye! Put The Hurt on the Hawkeyes!

  21. With NIL, the big dawgs are just mad that Oregon can now pay as much or more than they do, which has leveled the playing field.
  22. Hopefully Oregon remembers its past and never becomes like those programs. I would hope that a coach would always have the opportunity to turn it around at Oregon (like Coach Bellotti was able to do) before being shown the door. Commitment is a two way street.
  23. We have a special coach, loving who he is. I’m thankful he is Oregon’s head coach! It’s rare to find that in a coach these days. 24. I agree and I would argue that the UCLA did more harm than good for his confidence and development. However, I wonder if Oregon would have brought Dillon Gabriel in last year, if we had Dante and whether Dante would have transferred elsewhere if we did…
  25. OBD is in third place in our conference and realistically somewhat of a long shot to win it all this year and we all still love it! Just competing at the highest level year after year is all we can really ask. If we actually make the championship game or to even win it would be historic events. At LSU not being in the championship after a few years would have the hot seat heating up. Who needs that. He’s got top level resources, compensation and a rabid and appreciative fan base in a very chill environment for family life. Sounds like a great deal to me.
