  2. My position is that for the Ducks to get to the next level somebody's standards will have to change. Not that "my standards" matter, they don't. If the coaches think we're good, and the majority of the fans think we're good, then who am I to impose some unrealistic standard or expectation. We generally hit want we aim for, so as long as you're happy with what you're seeing then good for you. Go Ducks
  3. I am definitely saddened by Bob's passing. My first Dead show was the '72 Veneta Country Fair. I was 11 (my oldest sister and her then boyfriend took me). An 11 year old left to wander about with 1000s of various "high" young adults? Probably the early education that I needed. In many respects, the Dead made me who I am today. And for that I'm grateful.
  4. My amateur observation is that it is a roster construction problem. I have no idea what NIL opportunities that Altman has to offer. But, I think it is time to take a hard look at the recruiting capabilities of his long-time assistants. This is a new era for roster construction, and my impression is they have not adapted very well. I've always felt that being competitive in Big Ten basketball would be a struggle. But, landing between 16th and 18th in the standings will drain the program of energy and fan interest/attendance. Especially if the Ducks consistently end up in the bottom half going forward and get bounced early in the B1G Tournament. Attendance, even in the best of times, has been soft for a variety of reasons. But, attendance for a team with a bunch of L's will be abysmal.
  5. And I happen to believe it makes no sense for him or OBD. If he went out now he'd be down the list of draftees, maybe 8-12. The Ducks have had lots of QB's go much higher. Harrington went to Detroit and got the hell beat out of him. Mariota went to Tennessee and got the hell beat out him. Hubert went to the Chargers and is still getting the hell beat out of him. However Nix, who was farther down the list, went to Denver as is doing great. I expect that Moore will have a tough battle to be the starter. Better for him if he loses.
  6. I know I'm in the minority here, but I don't think I could really be less enthusiastic for the returning of a projected 1st rounder at QB than I am about Dante Moore. I think he has a ton of tools, but I just don't know if this the guy that can lead a team to a championship, mightily struggled against every tough defense that he faced, and while there are mitigating circumstances (injuries, play of the O-line, etc.) I just don't know if he has "it". I'm probably wrong, he will have a very good season, but until I see him dominate a great defense then I'll be skeptical that he can do it.
  7. I agree. I would love to have Akili Jr. beat out Raiola. Not to under play a broken bone but my understanding was that it was a broken fibula without tibia damage and that is a "good" break to have (experience speaks for a hell of a lot less NIL).
  8. Make sense for him. And good for OBD.
  9. Also good to remember Dylan is coming off of a serious injury and may well not be ready for fall camp let alone spring. He has 3 seasons to play 2, so this might make more and more sense as things unfold.
  10. I seriously doubt Smith Jr. will wait 2-3 years for his chance. I know this is just how it goes, but I don't see him waiting around 2-3 years to get his shot. He might beat out Raiola over the course of next year, but it will be a tough go considering the experience that Raiola has. Personally, I hope this is what happens.
  11. I honestly have no idea if Altman is going to rebound next year. I think he needs a complete reset in the program, not a single player other than Evans would I bring back, not a single one. This has been the worst season of basketball in a loooooooonnnnggggg time, I honestly think the team is worse than some of Kent's worst teams. He has to recruit some of the bigger names in the transfer portal, we have not been able to get a single player in the last few years that would be considered a top 25 or 30 player in the portal. He has to get more guys like Figueroa, Moser, or Omoruyi. More proven guys from bigger programs. It might be that he just doesn't have much in the way of NIL to compete. I guess we have a good freshman coming in next year in Tahj Ariza...but then you remember that Altman hasn't had the best luck with high profile freshman playing that well in their first year. Looking forward to Baseball/Softball, we should be able to do well in both sports.
  12. YES! Dante gets more experience, Dylan uses a red shirt season to improve his play, and better fit into the Oregon system. This helps erase the sour Peach Bowl pain. 👍👌😍 ESPN.comQB Moore opts against draft, returning to DucksOregon QB Dante Moore, who was projected as a top pick in the NFL draft, has decided to return to school for the 2026 season, he announced on ESPN's SportsCenter.
  13. "Lower my standards? You get what you ask for..." I gotta disagree with this. What "standards" we as fans have mean absolutely nothing to a teams' performance. We watch, speculate and discuss, but we have nothing to do with how a team conducts itself. Sometimes, it seems that fans with "high standards" hold themselves up as somehow better fans than those who don't share those standards. I'm not saying you feel that way, but you can have any and all the standards you want, and that will have nothing to do with how a team performs. If it did, all teams would be undefeated.
  14. I’ve pretty much checked out on hoops sadly enough. I actually forgot to watch the MSU game, but I’m in Hawaii on vacation so whatever. I’ve watched most of our games though. This seems like a poorly constructed team with a key injury in what is a really tough conference this year. Keep waiting for the Dana turnaround but I don’t think it’s happening.
  15. Very cool! We have a very good 2 deep. Advance warning, don’t be attached to HS names that weren’t good enough to play their frosh year.
  16. I know we're all disappointed in the final game so I took a deep dive into our football program and as Duck fans we should hold our heads up and be proud of our team. I just got a notification that Dante Moore will be returning! See how blessed we are. Chip Kelly 46-7 .868% Under Chip, he posted undefeated records against both Oregon State and Washington, something never before achieved by an Oregon coach. Mark Helfrich 37-16 .698% Willie Taggart 7-5 .583% Mario Cristobal 35-13 .729% Dan Lanning 48-8 .857% overall record 173-49 .779% George Horton 375-281 .572% Mark Wasikowski 206-106 .660% overall record 581-387 .600% Listening to the college baseball show with Jared Perkins, Mark Garland and Will Mossa, they pick our Ducks to finish in 2nd place in the B1G ten, only behind powerhouse UCLA. Dana Altman 378-171 .689% Our basketball program, for the most part, has been very competitive and exciting to watch. There has been the occasional bump in the road but overall have done fairly well. But this season is different. Is it the coaching, player development or NIL. For the past four seasons, there have been quite a few injuries that have derailed the Ducks. Anybody have an answers how Coach Altman can turn this around? Looking at our winning percentages in football, baseball and basketball, we should be very pleased at the winning cultural at Oregon.
  17. I was listening to Danny Kannel a couple of mornings ago and he thought this would be the right decision. His thought process was that the more experience Dante got the better chance he would be at succeeding and thus, earning a second contract. The first contract is nice, but the second contract can be nine figures if you prove to be the future of your franchise (just ask Justin).
  18. Dante Moore>Dylan Raiola>Akili Smith Jr.>Bryson Beaver...sounds good to me.
  19. The ending sucked, but this season was an unqualified success. A final four appearance by a team with a new QB. OBD Exceeded all expectations ranging from Vegas odds to our preseason ranking. There are apparently a few out there that consider not winning it all sub-standard, but by every other measurement we did better than the experts thought. We hit a buzz saw that slapped Alabama around the week before they slapped us around, and I’ll be shocked if they don’t continue the slapping on Monday.
  20. QUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!
  21. I'm definitely NO expert but this is the Smartest choice Dante could have made, solely based on his body of work. Glad to have you senor', glad to have you. GO DUCKS!
