What You Need to Know About the IOWA HAWKEYES
I doubt the CFB PO Committee will be in lockstep with the AP Poll. Five ways in which the rankings could differ. NOTE: The PO Committee will only have 12 members this season. Member and ASU graduate, Randall McDaniel, is on a leave of absence and has not been replaced. I agree that A&M could be ranked 1st, and Indiana could be ranked ahead of Ohio State. I also think that Iowa, No. 26 in the AP, could and IMO, should be ranked. Ditto AP No. 24 Washington. If a G6 team is ranked above or instead of these two, the Committee is kowtowing to the politics of the PO format. OBD could be ranked lower than No. 6. 7-1 is impressive, but the opposition, sans Indiana, has not been good. For PO seeding purposes, it would help if Iowa, USC, and UW were all ranked. 2025 Football Poll Rankings (2)
Ducks Wire predicts what the PO Committee's 1st PO field will be. No. 6 OBD hosts No. 11 UVA. I'm not certain we'll see Ohio State 1st, Indiana 2nd, and OBD 6th. If the Committee metrics are close to ESPN's SOS and SOR rankings, we could see A&M first and a 1-loss Alabama in the top 3. Recall, SEC commissioner Greg Sankey decided the conference would go to nine games based on his belief that the SEC's SOS and SOR superiority, per Greg, will be recognized by the Committee. If half of the SEC is in the Committee's Top 25, DUCK! https://duckswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/ducks/football/2025/11/03/oregon-football-college-football-playoff-rankings-prediction-week-11/87056768007/?utm_source=smg-duckswire-strada&utm_me

Josh Pate's Epiphany About Mario Cristobal In Real Time (Must Watch)
This is so great. I encourage you to watch Josh's reaction. He talks through what he's seeing from Miami/Mari Cristbal . . . and that he just doesn't understand how so much talent isn't matching the results on the field (sound familiar?). He so eloquently discusses what we learned during Mari's tenure here, and you can see that the lightbulb is nearly fully turned on; he's receiving a revelation in real time. The Miami discussion starts at the 4:45 minute mark. Enjoy!

Jahlil Florence To Enter Portal
Sad to see Florence go as I remember Lanning calling him up to recruit him as he was leaving the field after the Dawgs won the championship. That being said, it is almost unreal how amazing the recruiting has been that a guy who had early playing time and a sophomore starter became the third guy at his position. I’m sure he’ll be highly sought after and OBD’s number one pass defense will keep on keeping on.

Ducks vs. Them. Wisconsin
Just like the game, this episode was boring. No behind the scenes from meetings and practices. No message of the week from Coach Lanning. Pretty much just Oregon game highlights with some audio from the coaches sprinkled in. More like a Greatful Dead music video with Oregon football highlights. Worst Ducks vs. Them episode that I’ve seen.

What You Need to Know About the IOWA HAWKEYES
If you look at the team stats Iowa vs Indiana, you can see that it was a close defensive minded game. This is also a big10 team, not a pac12 team, so the average difference between those two leagues would be one has better QBs and athletes, the other has better linemen. Most likely this will be the case. I don't think this game will be easy. This could be a loss that sets up struggles for games with USC and Washington, or it could be a nice win that sets the Ducks up for the playoffs. A loss will make it hard to make the playoffs and drop the team way down in the polls. A win will make a case for best one loss team. I think the Ducks laid an egg vs Indiana. I think this game will tell us what kind of a team the 2025 Ducks really are. In my opinion, Oregon has a roster capable of winning a national championship this year. This team can also break down and become dysfunctional at times. We are in November, so the kinks should be worked out by now. I am not too worried about the players. I am mostly concerned about the coordinators and what kind of plays they will call. I am also a little uneasy about which players they will go with, especially at running back and linebacker. The one Duck player I will be paying close attention to is Matayo - can he break out of his 'funk' and start making plays again? I also hope they play a clean game and don't cost the offense first downs with holding penalties or give the other team first downs with pass interference calls. Coaching is going to matter this game. I'd like to see the special teams keep doing good things. The special teams coordinator is the one assistant I don't want to lose.

That definitely is a boon to play at a time that is easier on the players' body clock, especially after flying across the country.

What's Wrong with Lofting 50/50 Bombs from Near Midfield?
Yeah the odds of getting shut down 3 or 4 plays in a row is really high against great defenses, and Moore can't be expected to be as efficient as Nix and Gabriel were. The only alternative is to air it out more. I get it he hasn't had time at times, but a lot of times he has time, he just doesn't like what he sees and gets happy feet into scramble mode and goes down. If you get a one on one, don't stare them down, but do look off the safety, then huck the ball with some air under it and have our WRs go get it.

Unfortunately I do have a 9AM game Saturday with my Dawgs. But that is fortunate in one regard--about the time that ends, I can flip over to see the matchup at Iowa. Go Dawgs!! Go Ducks!! Keep on track moving toward the CFPs.

Jahlil Florence To Enter Portal
Oof... Yeah the injury hit him hard as he lost last season and the last recruiting class was just bonkers good. Interesting note... This does signal the LAST DB in that first Lanning recruiting class to depart the program. I believe now that all DBs recruited in Lanning's first class are now gone.

Jahlil Florence To Enter Portal
Not a surprise, as the last two recruiting classes had players that jumped ahead of him on the depth chart. Hard to know how things would’ve turned out if he had not been injured… I wish him the best.

Are We Sleeping On An Elite Oregon D?
I haven't figured out the numbers but how much of the pass rush not getting home is down to the speed of the release? Feels like there have been a lot of quick passes opposing offenses have tried to use because they wanted to get the ball away fast. But I know that hasn't always been the case this year as well. Feels like MU is not as effective this year but TT is having a great year.

What's Wrong with Lofting 50/50 Bombs from Near Midfield?
Look at what Ohio State did to Penn State. They threw the ball deep. Bama, Georgia, Miami earlier in the season, A&M, Tennessee- all throw deep early and often. If you want to win a Natty, you're going to have to throw the ball deep. How did we beat Ohio State? Throwing the ball deep. How did we lose to Washington? Throwing efficient pass schemes nearly the entire game. OBD threw one TD pass against Indiana. What kind of pass was it? A bomb. It has been my opinion all year, you have to score 40 a game. Explosive run plays for TDs don't happen often against playoff teams. Explosive plays are necessary to win. That leaves explosive passing. Figure it out, don't make excuses. Throw the damn ball deep.
