  2. LOL......last year Oregon went unbeaten in the BIG.....this year so far one loss. Oregon needs to keep doing what it is doing and eventually things will happen.....hope to get a few of those NC trophies.

Ducks win a 'slobber knocker' at Iowa, captured by 'Ducks vs Them'"In Ducks vs Them, The Way of the Warrior," The Week 9 cinematic recap from Oregon football, Duck fans see the moments and the reactions in a way television or a view from the stands can never capture. The special teams were special when Oregon beat Iowa. Jeremiah McClellan forced a bad punt that shanked out of bounds at the 50, chased down the next one in the end zone after a bad snap for a safety. The coverage teams neutralized Kaden Wetjen. Atticus Sappington, "with ice water in his veins" nailed three field goals in impossibly difficult conditions for kicking. In "Ducks vs Them" fans see the why. Part of the reason special teams are so special on this Oregon team is that they are fully integrated into the team, afforded the same love and respect as fellow warriors. The series allows fans a glimpse into the planning and messaging. Dan Lanning has a vision for the game and the team understands it, and there are echoes and reminders of the wins that have come before. 5. David, great assessment of OBD's BIG situation. It does not matter what the broadcasting mouth pieces, BIG beat writers, podcasters and fans think of OBD's physicality! I don't think our conference foes feel that way, however, if they do then it is their mistake. On both sides of the ball, with IU the exceptiom, OBD's have dominated our BIG opponents. Numerous Duck mistakes and timely and costly penalties have kept the scores lower. Against Whisky a foolish Matayo hold kept 7 off the board on the fake punt TD. And DL with 2 minutes to go and the ball at or inside the Whisky 10 yard line chose to take a knee to run out the clock. Final score could have easily been 35-7. IU, tOSU, USC and every SEC team would have run up the score We all just witnessed the points OBD's left off the board against Iowa. David what matters to me about perception is the CFP perception. Does playing physical, in back to back rain and wind storms matter? Or is it blow out wins? It seems we must play to a certain level of their expectations. Does this ESPN, store bought committee feel if OBD's don't win by 21 points or more that they underpormed and now are undervalued? Does the person on the committee who is responsible for watching the Duck game just report another lackluster performance by the Duck O? That is what matters. DL and the Ducks will take care of 95% of the BIG opponents. We cannot do anything about the CFP candles in the wind commmittee members. At this point, this Duck fan does not feel welcome in the BIG. Espdcially when we beat tOSU, UM and PSU. UPSTART INTERLOPERS! But i am not in this for a friendship ring. This fan supports OBD's for wins and titles and Natty rings. GO Ducks! It's whack a gopher time. Bring the A+ game, settle the issue by halftime and give the #3's more playing time.
  6. Thank you David Marsh! Great argument for defending Our Beloved Ducks!
  7. Is Oregon physical enough for the B1G? If you are reading this article you are probably a Duck fan, and your reaction is going to be an emphatic YES! I know our Mr. FishDuck took a break from his preference to bet on sports in AZ to give me an earful of his thoughts, and I imagine many of you ... Is Oregon Physical Enough for the BIG?
  8. We will learn a whole lot about Ohio State in the playoffs.
  9. Not saying OBD is invincible, but I wouldn't automatically dismiss the possibility that OBD might beat the Bucks. Everybody points to the fact that OSU has soundly beaten its opponents, but I am not high on the quality of those opponents. OSU has the softest strength of schedule among all the top five B1G teams, right at 50th nationally. The Ducks, by contrast, are at 20 if I remember what I saw on Sunday. Ohio State may yet prove to be the best in the land, but they certainly haven't convinced me of that. Time will tell. Go Ducks!!
  10. Oli, you are a Duck warrior.
  11. Well, it was a DE not a LB. DEs don't really wait for a runner to make a move. I believe it was crazier to leave 4 in the box on that play. Much more difficult to stop a running play.
  12. In my opinion, Stein actually adjusted against Indiana. Dante missed two very execution laden TDs in the third quarter. Stein actually set the WTa up well, then shut it down the rest of the game. If Moore can duplicate that last drive in Iowa the rest of the season, we're talking about a totally different team. Maybe Stein should go the way of Buffalo's Superbowl teams-two minute offense all game. Moore seems to shine in those moments.
  13. The only reason Iowa was even close in this game is because of three self inflicted disasters in or near the red zone after three unstoppable drives. One was an end zone interception, another was a third down trip over feet and another was a third down holding call. If OBD doesn’t self sabotage themselves and collect a mere three points from those three drives, the score would have looked as dominant as the performance. I would rather the Ducks be an actually dangerous team lurking under the radar than being fed rat poison at number one like last year.
  14. Aside from tOSU, OBD's can beat anyone. Anyone! This teams has grit, a power running game, top five oline and a rock solid defense. And quality depth! I put the Buckeyes in a different level. Texas was a train wreck when they played the Buckeyes. Other than that tOSU has dominated In the CFP either bracket wont matter because we will need to play IU or tOSU along the way. A great chance to avenge our only 2 losses in 23 games. Best of all our coaches are coaching better. Some may not notice but DL and his staff out coached Whisky and the Hawkeyes. If you rewatch the games you can see the offense running basic plays to see how the opponents D reacts. Then later on out of the same formation the O ran counters or mis-direction plays for chunk plays. Some may not understand that those early plays that only got a yard or 2, set up other successful plays later. Nothing is done by chance, it's done by design as part of a chess match. It is no coincedence that when Iowa subbed their starting edge plays with 2 freshman that WS attacked the edges. This happened in the last 2 minutes of the first half. Those 3 points were critical. Those same 2 freshman played 5 plays in the 3rd quarter and the Duck O moved down the field. After those 5 plays those 2 did not play again. When DM ran for 46 yards, It was one of those basic play formations. Knowing how Iowa would react allowed the TE Johnson to seal the DE. The safety and linebackers quessed wrong. And DM ran untouched. OBDF members, to this old Duck thats coaching. On the D side of the ball the Duck D keeps getting better. Holding Iowa to 2.7 yards per rush. Well below their average. Look at how many times the Duck D has given the Duck O the ball at mid-field or better. Sadly the O got nothing from that. If that result changes then the Ducks will pile on the points in the final 3 games. FYI: In the last 3 quarters the Hawkeyes had 5 offensive possessions. Let that sink in. If the Ducks play clean and the refs are neutral then this team can accomplish great things. Go Ducks
  15. Does anyone if ‘there’s a formal complaint process that (Big10)teams can use (sending video evidence) that might get that officiating crew reprimanded? It would be great to send that message after A close call instead of a ref aided loss.
  16. Dan Lanning - "Men, we're Licensed to kill Gophers by the government of the United Nations. Men, we're free to kill gophers at (the direction of) Will. To kill, you must know your enemy, and in this case, the enemy is a varmint. And a varmint will never quit (except perhaps, against a Hawkeye.😁) They're like the Viet Hoosiers, Varmint-Cigs. So, to knock the Fleck out of them, you have to fall back on superior intelligence and firepower. And that's all she wrote." I could be confusing Carl Spackler with Danno? 🤪
  17. OK, I had a cocktail (or two?). So, lighten up, JJ! It's only a movie. 😁And we have yet to cut to the chase. Oregon Ducks On SIKirk Herbstreit Jokes About Retirement After Oregon vs. I...Before the No. 9 Oregon Ducks defeated the No. 20 Iowa Hawkeyes, ESPN's College GameDay analyst Kirk Herbstreit predicted Iowa to pull off the upset over Oregon
  18. Well, we just blew up the "Oregon isn't physical enough for the Big-10" nonsense, so they have to move to a new denigrating narrative.
  19. Does CBS "journalist" Back-Assward Will Backus get that CBS is no longer the SEC's butt boy? He's a Tennessee grad? I'm shocked! Come On Man! https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/college-football-week-11-overreactions-national-title-game-oregon-championship-caliber/ Why this jihad against OBD? Iowa under Ferentz was 5-1 in November vs. top 10-ranked opponents. The game was played in a monsoon. Oregon's win means it isn't on the same level as a 3-loss Tennessee team or an Ole Miss team that defeated The Citadel on Saturday? Someone out there with (un)Social Media skills I don't have, please send this guy a B1G love letter. Do what you can to make certain this is posted on the OBD bulletin board if you can, and please prepare a nice B1G welcome for Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson next time they're in town. And pump the brakes on Fernando Mendoza? I expect this spit from Saturday Down South, but CBS?

  24. For example, consider HDuck's chart: "2025 season total plays/games – national rank 6-Rutgers 726 in 10 15-Indiana 694 in 10 41-Purdue 643 in 10 46-Nebraska 635 in 10 84-USC 595 in 9 98-Maryland 587 in 9 101-Oregon 583 in 9 (64.8/game)" Compare OBD to Indiana To do that you have to adjust the OBD total number of plays because they have played one less game than Indiana. You can make the adjustment by dividing Indiana's plays by their number of games, which equals 69.4 plays per game. Then do the same for OBD and you get 64 . 8 per game, a difference of 4.6 plays per game. To make the comparison more accurate you would have to know how many possessions each team had and whether they were either running clock at the end of a game, or had a final two minutes like OBD had vs. Iowa where there were a lot of plays in a short time. Also, what was the impact of turnovers and field position? In other words, the chart is virtually meaningless without a lot more data. When I see questions about planning a pace for the season I often think of Chip Kelly's mad pace and how he never "won" the time of possession stat. Chip knew that in order for his players to get back to the line of scrimmage and snap the ball in the fewest seconds possible they had to be in outstanding physical condition. So that was his primary emphasis in the preseason. When the NCAA's proposed two-year suspension for the $20,000 payment to LaMichael's "finder" came at him, Chip took the "opportunity" to beat it to the NFL and try his system on the Professional players for the Eagles. It worked for more than half a season. When the roster limitation and trying to keep the reluctant older guys in shape took its toll, the flaws in Chip's system became apparent. There's no way Lanning and company could intentionally do less than everything possible to play the games at full throttle. You never know when players will be injured. Our depth chart has been really deep, until suddenly we're playing Iowa and it isn't deep enough. Or maybe, key players can't get on the field. Just too many variables to have them take plays off until the team is so far ahead the opponent cannot possibly catch up. But I can see backing off on conditioning after the season starts. Have the players get into their best possible condition before the first game, and then focus more on maintaining that level and try to increase stamina, but not work on strength to the point that a player is tired at game time. In this conference, we're seeing teams rise up and make a close contest where the point spread indicated the game would not be that close. It's not exactly that anybody can beat their next opponent, but that is the case for roughly 14-15 of the teams. No room for sandbagging.
  25. Resting players who are slightly dinged up, because we have depth is more like it.
  26. 6 on 4, what could go wrong? It's not like having the DC up in the box would have had him screaming at DL for a timeout or something.
  27. If I were king I'd just make all OOC games not count for the regular season, just like preseason in the NFL. If you want to schedule Georgia and Ohio State, go for it, or schedule cupcakes. Either way you may only see the starters for a few drives, but it gives an opportunity for every player on the team to get good in game reps and show their value to the depth chart. Of course the fans won't show up for games that don't matter just like the NFL, but more playoff teams and games would make up for it. (Round of 24 anyone?) It's almost like the NFL already figured this stuff out..we'll get there eventually after we've worn down compromise for tradition to a barely perceptible nub.
