Whoa! Is Our Beloved Ducks Better Than What WE THINK?
Is it OK if I get back to you on Saturday around 9 PM your time and early Sunday morning my time? The Right Coast is No Country for Sports-Watching Old Men! SIGH.🤬 However, since you inquired, and as I will shortly commit to in the prediction contest, I think OBD wins the game by two scores, at least. Drew Allar's safety blanket, TE Tyler Warren, has left the B1G and Beaver Stadium for a Bigger paycheck (I think?) 🤑 How will Allar respond to his first turnover in this game? The PSU OC knows he will have at least some success running the ball. But are the three newbie WRs going to give PSU a lethal passing attack? The PSU OC does not have Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate (Egbuka last season) on the field. There's a lot of youth in Oregon's Back 7, but the group is bigger and more athletic than the 2024 group. OBD has quick strike scoring ability that I don't believe PSU has. Jim Knowles doesn't have Caleb Downs on the field along with the other Buckeyes D guys who matriculated to the NFL. Penn State has a very good roster, but it is not on par with the roster Ohio State took to last season's playoff. Penn State, including a cupcake OOC threesome, is trying to duplicate what Michigan accomplished in 2024 and what Ohio State accomplished in 2025. I don't believe the Nits have the same talent level as Michigan and Ohio State, or the same coaching acumen. Plaster Penn State!

Prediction Contest of Oregon vs. Penn State: Join Us!
We have more than enough talent to win this game. But with such a young squad, and almost no experience going into & playing in an environment like PSU, I'm struggling to see us pull it off. If it was at Autzen, I like Mr. Fishduck's score prediction. So, here's hoping I'm dead wrong: PSU 34-28 1 TO 1 Sack (so far, on the season, we've only had a total of 1) 281

Oregon, Penn State Faceoff in Battle of Unknown Quantities
YES! Reason this game is the "Game Day" game. Winner of this game will be thrust into the "National Champion Favorite" narrative, while the loser will be a "great team" but XYZ issues will limit their ceiling. (ie: Ohio St last year after loss at Autzen, and we ALL know how that turned out). Regardless of the winner/loser of this game Both teams will be in the playoffs conversation the rest of the year. The playoffs are when you want to have discovered and addressed any weaknesses revealed during the course of the season. Then, is when you want to make "a run". Looking forward to this game. Could be a classic! 🦆🏈🪨's

And of course the inverse to that: How quickly Dante releases based upon the distance of a 300# "edge" barreling down on him with murderous intent!

Whoa! Is Our Beloved Ducks Better Than What WE THINK?
I think next week many of us "hyper focused" critIcs 🧐 of some elements of OBD's shortcomings may realize that it was mountains outa molehills. (Of course get blown out in Happy Valley and we might have some "mountainous" shortcomings to overcome. 😬) Go Ducks.

Prediction Contest of Oregon vs. Penn State: Join Us!
Man O Man this is a tough one. Penn St. 34-32 (Last second field goal as time expires) 1 T.O. (Dante will also throw his second INT) 3 Sacks 302 Yds Pass HATE to go against OBD but, at Happy Valley, White Out Pandemonium, two weeks to prepare for OBD. GameDay crowd primed from early am, two of the top rushers in NFL-Lite, B1G conference winning streak Has to end sometime, right? Revenge Game AND "show-me" game for Franklin and his staff. OBD will be in it from the kickoff with several lead changes/ties. Just will run out of time as Penn St. kicks the winning field goal. Will be a win for Penn St comparable to the Ducks win at home, last year vs. Ohio St. For once I hope I am WWAAAaaayyyyy off on my prediction. GO DUCKS!

Stopping the Penn State Run Game
The PSU OL to this point has been like a stationary wall. They don't get much push (low yards before contact), but don't let much get past them (low negative yardage plays) against poor competition. I take that to mean they are fundamentally sound, but not very athletic, or the running scheme has been a Mario Cristobal special. It's a bit of a conundrum to this point. I think PSU will want to run outside more against us like they did last year, but Oregon is much better at setting the edge this year than prior years. I wonder if we don't just put 5 down linemen and play single high safety and man coverage. Bottle up the run and make the QB beat us with his arm or scrambling.

A Question of Time
I stayed up until 10:30 last night helping my high school freshman daughter prepare for her math test, so I'll pass on the number crunching. So my answer is the ball will get there faster than the DB thinks is possible.

Stopping the Penn State Run Game
Do we load the box, bringing Dillon Thieneman down to help contain PSU running backs? Make Allar beat us with his arm? Can he? Does Tosh have faith in our defense linemen to plug the holes? Not sweating getting 4 sacks, but forcing Allar to make the throws that he hasn't this season? Let Allar have the check-down passes, giving them 2-3 yards a play for passing but swarm tackling since we have 8 in the box? So many things I am thinking of for tomorrows game, and I know that OBD staff has 25 other things they are thinking/planning for!

Oregon - Penn St. Pre-Game Reports, Interviews, Etc. (2)
The NFL is notorious for falling in love with tall, big-armed guys who play erratically. There's a long list. While Allar has the look and the measurables, Dante Moore is the quarterback in this game with elite arm talent and the makeup to thrive in a pressure atmosphere. Autzen ZooDucks have one big edge in championship rematch, but does...In three games last year against OSU, Oregon and Notre Dame, Drew Allar completed 54 percent of his passes for 507 with three touchdowns and four interceptions.

A Question of Time
This question may be for the coaches, mathematicians and physicists among us: Our receiver is wide open. He’s found a seam and he’s sitting in it, about 20 yards from the line of scrimmage. He’s not in the center of the field, and the QB is in the pocket, 7 to 10 yards behind the line, so let’s say there are 35-40 yards between them. There are a couple of tall guys someplace around the line of scrimmage. Question: How many seconds will it take for the ball to get from Dante’s hand to the receiver’s face mask?

Oregon, Penn State Faceoff in Battle of Unknown Quantities
The No. 6 Oregon Ducks are walking into one of the biggest stages in college football on Saturday to tackle No. 3 Penn State before a raucous White Out crowd at Beaver Stadium. The College Gameday crew, including a likely shirtless Pat McAfee, will do their level best to draw all eyes to Happy Valley for a heavyweight rematch of ... Good News, and A Personal Update!
Sorry to hear that Charles! I worked in an industry that involved a lot of heavy lifting for 20+ years in my youth. My back muscles were so much stronger than my core that I developed a severe case of sciatica. It got bad enough my doctor said I looked like I had cerebral palsy when I walked. Luckily, I was able to control it with a ridiculous amount of core conditioning (like at least 200 crunches a day in my 40's). It lasted long enough that I will forever have a high level of empathy for anyone who suffers chronic back pain. I'll be praying for you!
