Mario pulled out a victory from the jaws of defeat yesterday. Don’t worry. Miami will lose to an unranked team at some point. It’s a given.

I wonder if Dallas Wilson is regretting that decision to flip to Florida right about now. His QB can’t complete a forward pass, the team is 1-3, and the coach is about to get fired. Meanwhile, at Oregon…….

Our Beloved Ducks: Not Quite Ready for 'Natty Time?
We are not performing well against genuinely weak teams. The Beavs? Montana State? Northwestern? And a somewhat crippled Oklahoma State? There's a real test ahead at Happy Valley. And Indiana is no slouch either, based on how they handled Illinois. Unless our defense can stop the run and our offense can run the ball against strong defensive teams, this is not going to be an easy schedule to navigate successfully.

ESPN’s College Gameday Coming to State College, PA
This adds a whole new wrinkle to my travel plans. I was going to show up in the afternoon. Now I’m thinking about showing up before 9:00 AM. For those who have been to this show when it has come to Autzen, is it worth the effort to see it?

College Coaching: Dabo Has a Meltdown
I think you guys won't have to worry about a replacement anytime soon. The Not For Long league doesn't have the same security as college does. Urban Meyer found that out. Jim Harbaugh was an NFL guy first. But if you did need a dude I as a Gator wouldn't want to see Fran with the talent and resources at Georgia. Maybe he can be our next head coach once Billy is gone. I know a QB prospect that could use the development he gave Kyle McCord.

UW will not be ranked when we play them. I'm a main voter in the Reddit College Football Poll, and I certainly do not have Washington ranked. Or Notre Dame. I do have USC ranked at about 20th, though. The Oregon Ducks? I moved them to #1 for Week 5 after today's results. Penn State stays at #4.

College Coaching: Dabo Has a Meltdown
I can't remember if Fran Brown was at Georgia under Kirby Smart for one or two years. But in his short stint in Athens, he won over the players and the coaches. I m Told that Kirby enthusiastically recommended Fran for Head Coaching positions just as he did with Lanning. The real football freakish knowledgeable fans, many of whom have some inside ties to the team, are so high on Fran that they would hope he might wish to return as the Georgia head man should Kirby hang em up any time in the not too distant future. Obviously Fran has many fans in Athens that wish him the best.

The season of roster turnover. Except for ... Clemson? Oklahoma has two good home wins. Miami has three solid wins. FSU has one excellent win over Bama and beatdowns of inferior opponents. Georgia had a gutsy win at Tennessee. Since the FSU embarrassment, Bama has played outstanding football. Indiana's roster, as I and others expected, is improved from last season at quarterback and on both lines of scrimmage. The proof is about to be stirred into the pudding. Next week sees OBD at Penn State, Alabama at Georgia, Ohio State at a UW squad that has looked solid so far, LSU at Ole Miss, Auburn at A&M, and Indiana at Iowa. The SC at the Illinois game has lost much of its big-game luster. UW is 3-0. Both UW and USC will win more than 7.5 games this season and provide Oregon with two ranked opponents to finish the regular season. The following Saturday sees an ACC showdown when Miami goes on the road for the first time this season against Florida State. Clemson and SMU both lost again today. On Saturday, Oregon will play a team with a Blue Chip roster. A team with a top drawer defense, and one that has not put it all together on offense. I expect to see a focused football team that has meandered the last two weeks against teams with nowhere near OBD's talent. After a bye, for both OBD and Indiana, Week 7 sees the Hoosiers in Autzen. Play as well against Iowa as Indiana did today against Illinois, and the Hoosiers could be a top 15 or higher-ranked team. We'll learn a lot about Oregon and other highly ranked teams over the next couple of weeks. The PO Committee's 1st ranking is on 11/4/25. Final ranking on 12/7/25. Neuter the Nits!

"Indiana is going to be a very tough game if we don't step up our game, I'm very glad that one is after a bye." Indiana also has a bye before traveling to Oregon. Given the total points they've scored in the last three games it appears Coach Cig has them on a mission to impress folks that they weren't a one-time aberration last season. I'm sure they heard a lot of crap after the way last season ended. Cignetti's contract with Indiana, signed last November, is an 8-year deal worth $72 million, with an average salary of $8 million, plus $1 million per year retention bonus. Starts at $7.3 and goes to $8.7 at 8th year. If Cignetti were to leave on his accord, he would have to pay damages at the school starting at $13 million in the first year of the deal and that amount goes down on an annual basis. THAT ($13) is something to watch in today's competitive environment.

I agree with Charles that this team is still very young and has a ton of upside to improve by the end of the year. I was paying very close attention to run defense today and I do have a concern at the linebacker spot and I’m not sure what we can do about it this year. Boettcher plays his heart out and makes a ton of plays, but he misses some, too. And who’s after Boettcher? Jackson is consistently blocked. I watch Boettcher come across the field to make plays on Jackson’s side. Mixon is coming on, but I still see only 2 tackles. If we send Boettcher on a stunt, who cleans up behind him? Overall A for effort, but I’m not sure we have true, natural linebackers. I hope Tosh can coach these guys up.

Holy Hoosiers. I thought that this season's Indiana could be ... Indiana. It won't be easy to put these Cigs out in Week 7. I'm old enough to remember watching Nebraska O-linemen who could block. Looking at Biff and Wink on the Michigan sideline, I'm pretty sure that neither is welcome at an all-you-can-eat buffet. 🤢 Jackson Arnold - couldn't go home again. The Red River Rivalry will not be another Texas blowout. Is this Ole Miss team better than last season's PO or bust and then busted Ole Miss team? Rutgers' 14 points in the first quarter were the most Rutgers has ever scored against Iowa. A record Scarlet Knight crowd of 55,000-plus saw Rutgers go 0-5 against Iowa. The costly Rutgers INT in the 4th quarter was Iowa's first takeaway of the season and Rutgers' first turnover. On the other hand, the Terps are now 1-4 vs. the Badgers. Pat Fitzgerald, where are you? The Pac-2 had a really bad day. 😁 Ohio State better be prepared to play ball next Saturday in Seattle. Pound, Punish, and Pulverize Penn State.

Whenever the camera pans the Illinois sideline, Bielema looks like he's trying to remember where he left his wallet and car keys. Same look he had when Oregon beat Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl over a decade ago. Lord, what an embarrassing beatdown.
