  2. 81-67 Ducks, with 2:53 left. Shelstad threes…wow.
  3. Oregon leads at half 41-34, with streaky play. Three point shooting is improving, and drawing fouls is going well. Beavers have some good players…

  7. I'm not as impressed with Franklin as you are. He had all the resources he could possibly want at Penn St. plus a constantly sold out 110,000 seat stadium and couldn't get over the hump to win the big games that would have made them a national championship contender. He's going to have okay resources at Tech and a rabid if smaller fan base, but it's not Penn St. Tech needs to win with innovation, as I hinted above like Oregon does, not with the conservative philosophy of Franklin. He may recruit okay there, but he will not dominate the ACC at Tech. I doubt at this point he will even dominate UVA (like they did not too many years ago). He beat who he was supposed to beat at Penn St. often with vastly superior talent. He won't have that advantage at Va Tech. I see Franklin as very similar to Cristobal.
  8. Ducks.......just run the ball and throw when the opportunity is there. USC will not touch Moore. Their DL is not capable of stopping the run if tested.......why Iowa and Nebraska went away from the run......only the lord knows. On the defense........double Lemon and Lane and make USC run.......Riley will eventually lose patience and throw anyway. He is aways going to throw eventually. Play the game straight.....Riley will try a few trick plays...which will blow up if Oregon plays straight. This game should not be close.......the only fear I have is the officials know that the BIG wants a 4th team in the playoffs.....if it's not the USC it's not going to happen......unless Michigan beats Ohio State. So we should expect a few peculiar calls. USC has benefited from several bizarro interceptions lately.....balls bouncing off hands and at a weird angle ending up in the stomach of a DL......and another few calls that I cannot explain.
  9. I don't know if it will be the same for a playoff game, but back when my DH and I went to the first PAC championship game at Autzen we were dismayed to find out we did not get our season-ticket seats. ☹️
  10. I think Franklin preferred to go to a school that appreciates him and understands he needs some time to get the football program where he wants it. It would be the exact opposite at the SEC schools. Virginia Tech probably said “We’re glad you’re here”. Whereas an SEC school would probably say “You’re lucky to be here”. Ole Miss has apparently told Kiffin him they need a decision by the time the Egg Bowl rolls around. It’s looking like he may jump back into the meat grinder of boosters, fans and admin who have zero patience. That may be a challenge he wants to overcome. I personally feel he’s more equipped to handle the pressure this time and I think he’s will be successful to a point. He may have some SEC championship game and playoff appearances and maybe even have some wins in those games.
  11. I look at this game as a final 'tune-up' for OBD. Next week they head to Las Vegas for the Players Era Festival. I'm looking forward to this tournament as Oregon will be facing stiff competition. It will show us how well they play and the areas needed for improvement. #22 Auburn (3-1) lost to #2 Houston 73-72 and San Diego St. (2-0). Although not in the top 25, the Aztecs come in at #26 with 71 votes, OBD at #29 with 28 votes.
  12. I don't think there is anybody out there the spells automatic L. OBD's D can keep them in any game and their run game is as serious as anybody's out there. Oregon's biggest problem this year has been making things too difficult on themselves by going away from what works and leaving too many points on the field. Back to back interceptions kept our O on the sidelines against Indiana and allowed them to build a lead when the run game was proving effective. Three drives in or near the red zone netting a mere three points kept the Iowa game way to close even though the run game was dominating. If the Ducks play and coach smart, they can hang with anybody. Win the next two and they'll at least have a first round home game and should be at least 50/50 for the next round. Can't wait for the SUC fans to cry us a river this Saturday.
  13. What I find interesting about a&m is the win against South Carolina, it is being viewed as a magnificent comeback from the brink. It should be viewed as what it was, a horrible win at home against a team that has only 1 conference win. Don't get me started on Sark, the x Huskie and x USC coach that we would have loved to have stayed at either. Now he is considered one of the top sec coaches-and maybe he is.
  14. I also like uw2. Because Wisconsin is UW.
  15. Oregon State is 3-0 with wins over: North Dakota State 67-65 UIC 76-73 North Texas 66-64 Let's keep the progress going!
  16. I'd be thrilled with Bama or Miami. And whoever we get, I hope it's 36 degrees and raining. Even dudes used to playing in snow would be complaining about how cold it is.
  17. That is why I refer to them as "ewe dub". Use your imagination on the ewe portion.

  19. Oh, I hope GD doesn't jinx the Ducks again! It's been hard to determine how good the Ducks are this year (play fast and win big, or play slow and barely win or lose), but this should help with that. I have been impressed with Indiana this year (who would believe it), and they are validating their ranking ... I agree OSU and IU are the top teams. If USC was in the SEC, they would be ranked about 10, but that is the world we live in ... Hopefully all the injured players will find their way back, since we all would like to see USC get crushed!! Go Ducks! Let's win 55-10
  20. Rodent fan does not understand the economics of college sports. He should be asking how they will fund existing costs of their sports programs with less revenue than they had last year. Like it, or not, collegiate sports generates huge costs for a University’s athletic department. Hoping for teams to join a sinking ship conference is not a good business strategy.
  21. I could see Cal and Stanford sneaking into the B1G with certain strings attached. If they both opt to take a much lower payout than even Oregon and Washington for a good while, so maybe something like 20 mil instead of the Oregon and Washington 30mil. They would need to come in at a major pay cut while also saying they would take football more seriously. Right now is their opportunity to invest as much as they can into football and in the next season or two show some meaningful improvements. In terms of academics they fit in just fine so that could give them a significant boost. I'm also sure that UCLA would help get Cal in because they wouldn't have to pay Cal anymore if that were to happen. I could see Oregon, Washington and USC wanting them in for more west coast games. Strangely enough the B1G might have to turn back to a division system and get more creative towards the end of the season with open scheduling to pin these smaller division against each other... kinda like a mini tournament for the B1G Championship. But this would be asking for far more creativity from a conference than they are probably interested in. I think the whole thing is a long shot at this point but I can see it happening if the right set of circumstances come up.
  22. Nothing to SEC here, move right along. Only 9 out of 16 SEC teams ranked in the AP Poll? How can the voters screw over seven teams from the It Just Means More conference? To me, this sure looks like Sankey Pankey AP voting. 🤪
  23. Every school that has retained its coach, Fickell at Wisconsin, Locksley at Maryland, or hired a new coach has promised to spend more on football. This is a step down for a coach who could have had the job at Arkansas or perhaps at UCLA. The ACC is an implosion waiting to happen. One that has already given into its brand names when it comes to sharing postseason revenue. He will be recruiting the same territory, and maybe he believes he can win a conference title at VT? The AD at Penn State is toasting the exit payout mitigation with a V(odka) T(onic) or some other kind of adult beverage.
  24. Whenever I see VT my first thought is Vermont, probably because I grew up in Connecticut. 🙂
  25. This one's still a headscratcher to me, who is PSU going to find that's an upgrade? Kind of like just quitting a job because you think can find a better one. I think this is a great hire for VT, they would be stuck with the crumbs if they didn't act soon. I'm just laughing, what if Kiffin stays at Ole Miss? There's going to be a big scramble and somebody's going to wind up with a big downgrade.
  26. Great article David, as our running game is really jelling, and once we get all the WRs back.... We relegated Davison to the "power-back" role early on, but the explosion acceleration on cuts when in the secondary has really emerged with him. It could be a big difference in key games to come.
  27. Well, FSU fans lost their patience with Bobby Bowden who never won the 'Natty, but was a big winner.
  28. There is no way they could get a better coach than Franklin, at least among coaches that have head coaching experience. They might have been able to snatch a really good coordinator, but Franklin is a consistent 10 win coach other than basically his first couple years and this year. Tech haven't had that since Beamer...the first Beamer I mean. This is a home run for VATech, if I was a fan there I would immediately be super excited about possibly dominating the ACC if he can recruit at a decent level. I would say the only coach in the ACC that is definitely better than Franklin right now is Key at Georgia Tech. At least until this year Franklin beat the teams he should beat on a consistent basis (I'm looking at you Cristobal and Dabo).
