I truly believe that Mario was a Duck and gave his all to the Ducks right up til Miami enticed him away with a dream job, and I think that enticement started behind the scenes in the week leading up to the first Utah game. He torqued quite a few of us off for leaving the way he did, but it was initiated by Miami boosters and people who were longtime friends. It was his dream job, and he took it. He is a Cane again. I personally think it was a professional mistake for him, but time will bear that out or not. As far as the new coach, I can agree or disagree with the names coming up til the cows come home, and it will not matter. Mullens will hire someone, and like him or not, I will root for the Ducks in every game they play. Go Ducks!

Radcliffe is still on staff at U of O, serves the other teams, just not football. I don’t remember his players getting hurt as much as Feld’s do.

Overall, not a bad take on the situation. I find myself I’m agreement with a lot of it.

I think you are right 1Ducker1, Mario will unfortunately never have it as good as he had it in Oregon, and when he doesn’t win the Natty in 3 or 4 years he will get the Diaz treatment.

I think the right hire is going to upset about half of us. People are sharing pros and cons for about every name out there. I’ve heard upside and downside for (insert coach name here), he’s great, he sucks, can’t recruit, stuck in the past, not enough experience, offensive wizard, players coach, retired, under contract…. The list goes on. I think I will trust in the brain trust and root for whoever we get. If I know anything, it is that lots of people (including me) will have lots to say about our vision for OBD!

Desert Duck, I didn’t get the hit that Mullens didn’t see it coming, I got the hit he was miffed by the lack of courtesy and decorum from Miami. And ya gotta admit, it was pretty much a sh*t show the way it went down.

How many coaches are going with him? Has anyone heard?

Thank you Charles for being a voice of reason. We all make choices, and sometimes it is a choice we’d rather not make. Sometimes it’s a choice we’d have made differently under other circumstances, and none of us makes the perfect choice every time. I hope MCs choice pans out for him, I wish him and his family well, and thank them for their service. Now, insert more quarters and push PLAY! While I wish this had played out differently, at the end of the day, I AM A DUCK FAN, and I will root for them regardless of the coach.

Southwest Duck, you and me both! My gut feeling is a lot of folks will be cursing Mario for leaving and for taking so many of our (his) 4 & 5 star players with him. What do you want to bet the Alamo Bowl takes a pass on the Ducks this year?

I agree with that statement Southwest Duck. I am pretty sure that if MC is a reader of these and other site posts, he’s got the hint that the fans are done with him, so why not move on? i don’t think he will, and hope he stays, but if he does leave, we are losing a lot of awesome talent and next year will be fighting for a bottom feeder bowl. With Mario, we will be in the hunt. Without MC, I think the Ducks will be lucky to win 7 game next year. As I read some of these more anti-Mario posts, I can’t help but think “Be Careful What You Ask For.”

I seem to remember Helfrich had a hard time coaching up QBs not named Marcus Mariota.

And it didn’t start late in the game, it was that way from the opening drive. No earthly reason not to give one of the Freshman QBs a shot in the 2nd half.
