  1. Some possible options, all speculative of course. Oregon Ducks Replacement Options As Junior Adams Departs For Dallas Cowboys WWW.SI.COM Oregon Ducks co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers'...
  2. This one hurts. Not only is he an elite recruiter but an excellent developer of players. I thought he would be next up for OC if Will Stein left.
  3. Hartline just made the most sense. Osu2 was going to be hard pressed to find an OC of Chip's caliber and if Hartline wasn't promoted he would probably be looking elsewhere (Day doesn't need to lose yet another coach right now). He's been there for 7(?) years now so he's put in his time, the players and recruits know him well, and he's probably ready for the next level. That being said, even in the best scenarios replacing a coordinator is significantly disruptive. DL was really fortunate to snag Will Stein as he is very similar to Dillingham (young, dynamic, creative, similar offensive philosophy). But Day is going from one of the most experienced and successful offensive coaches in Chip to a newbie who has never called plays before. I think Osu2's offense takes a step back next season (and perhaps the season after) as Hartline learns on the job and makes mistakes like every newly promoted young person does. There's a window of opportunity there for OBD and Penn St to overtake the Buckeyes during that span.
  4. Assuming the Dallas gig is $450k, I think his current contract buy out is more than that so he’d be losing money the entire first year if he left.
  5. Fresh off National Championship run Chip Kelly hired as Raiders OC RAIDERSWIRE.USATODAY.COM One year at Ohio State was all it took for Chip Kelly to take an offense to... Yup
  6. Feels like he'd have a better shot at being an NFL coach if he were a successful college coach first.
  7. Well that didn't last long. Osu2 is going to have some problems next season.
  8. This. The common thread between the last two national championship teams is that they were chock full of experienced veterans with 3-5 years of experience in those programs. I think the uneven performance of the offense and defense is at least partly explained by this as DL has had to utilize the portal extensively his first 3 years to assemble squads that can perform well under the circumstances. But while an experienced player from outside the program can perform well for 1 year, generally speaking another player who's been in the program for 4 years will understand their role and responsibilities far better (and can adjust on the fly more easily due to their deep knowledge of the schemes). Next season we'll start seeing some guys from his 1st recruiting class start to show what they're able to do and it will be the initial reflection of how well DL and the rest of the staff is at developing talent in house.
  9. I would imagine that if they're considering Hampton instead of Lupoi, it's probably because they see something in his skillset that's more compatible with their personnel and defensive philosophy. Remember, Lupoi is the other guy on Oregon's staff that has a national championship ring as a DC...he's not perfect but he's not exactly chopped liver either.
  10. Not necessarily...Knowles will be starting from scratch implementing his defense. Oregon goes to Penn St in just the 5th week of the season so there's a good chance that their defense will still be in an uneven state while everyone's figuring it out.
  11. Well he's a Philadelphia native so "going home" makes some sense. Also being paid more than 3 million a year certainly helps.
  12. I don't see how he wouldn't. He needs to show NFL scouts that not only can he play consistently at a high level but also stay healthy through a season. Being labeled injury-prone will kill his draft stock.
  13. I think Knowles just got offered another contract extension from osu2, no word on whether he's accepted it or not though. Penn St is also making a big push for him as well. Losing him would be a pretty big blow for Ryan Day but if he's going to then it might as well be to Oklahoma in a different conference rather than to one of your rivals.
  14. Should all 4 DBs develop well that would be the most talented secondary I've ever seen in Eugene.
  15. Reposting from the transfers thread for conversation. Oregon Ducks 5-star CB Na’eem Offord to bring position flexibility DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Oregon Ducks 5-star freshman cornerback Na’eem Offord could see a slight position change when arriving in Eugene this offseason. I don't hate the idea as we need more help in the safety group. At 6'1" and 185 lbs he's just big enough to handle it...the only question for me is would he perform as well or better there than at CB? OBD did get 2 other highly rated CBs for the 2025 class in Brandon Finney and Dorian Brew so maybe it makes sense to pair him up with Trey McNutt to round out that end of the field. *Edit* For reference, all 4 DBs are at least 6' tall...coaching staff is definitely recruiting bigger for the defensive backfield.
  16. Seems like every time I look, an OSU db is holding a receiver. I don't think their secondary is as good as everyone thinks.
  17. And as I type he ran on 4th and 1 to get the 1st down then runs it in for a TD!
  18. Ohio State struggled when DG started scrambling and creating. Like a lot of teams they have problems with mobile QBs. Riley Leonard is not only mobile but is 220+ lbs and is difficult to bring down…if ND wins it will be because of his legs.
  19. We all really appreciate your time on this vital part of the community. Heading off those spammers probably saves 20 times the effort cleaning up any damage they inflict!
  20. I think it probably just applies to revenue sharing (I could be wrong though). But I think this throws a wrench for some schools because they want to disassociate themselves from NIL collectives and just pay their players directly. Some schools like Colorado have already, pre-emptively, ditched their NIL in anticipation of this. Now they're kind of screwed. *Edit* Nevermind! Looks like it does claim to apply to NIL according to the article...I'm not exactly sure how that would work though. This is getting messy in a hurry!
  21. Either Kansas paid him an obscene amount of money or there's been trouble with him behind the scenes...
  22. We're probably seeing why DL wasn't really pushing to sign this guy.
  23. This was exactly what I was thinking and have mentioned it on other threads as well. DB starters overall were undersized to begin with and it showed against teams like Ohio State. DL and coach Hampton have been addressing this over the last couple recruiting classes so help is coming but it takes time to develop.
  24. The more I think about it, the more I believe this will be the most important pick up for next season. OBD interior oline always felt thin this past season and if Bedford gets his medical exception granted, I'm not confident he'll stay healthy all season. Pregnon and Iuli will both be very important in 2025.
