I like the 16 team expansion, I don't like the automatic bids. Leaving out the bids makes it a truer playoff. -
Dante Moore Analysis by AddictedtoQuack
kirklandduck replied to kirklandduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Some of that was growing pains as a true freshman. But I think most of that was a terrible offensive line and an offensive scheme not designed around his strengths. I think Will Stein will do a better job tweaking his offense fit Moore's skill set if he becomes the starter in the future. -
Dante Moore Analysis by AddictedtoQuack
kirklandduck replied to kirklandduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Reading through the article, it sounds very much like when Mario took over and had Justin as QB. He designed the wrong kind of offense that emphasized the run game and not the elite passer he had right in front of him. The one difference is that Mario was able to recruit and develop a competent OL, Chip could not even do that. -
Quacking the Roster: QB Transfer Dante Moore WWW.ADDICTEDTOQUACK.COM Film review of Moore’s 2023 season at UCLA A very detailed analysis of his talents and performance at UCLA. It lays bare the reason for his inconsistency: Chip Kelly failed to design an offense around his strengths.

UCLA Announces Hire of All-Time Great to Replace Chip Kelly
kirklandduck replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This really is the only option that's realistic for UCLA right now given their dire financial status and dismal NIL support. No chance a good and experienced HC will want to start with such a disadvantage, even if the location is in a recruiting hotbed. DeShaun Foster might turn into a good HC but he's going to starting from the ground up and primarily recruiting 3* talent as he'll be routinely outbid for blue chips. Of course that's not necessarily a bad thing if you're able to develop guys like Kyle Whittingham is consistently able to. -
Chip Kelly Leaving UCLA For OC Job At Ohio State!
kirklandduck replied to Babyjesus615's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Seems like the only realistic option for UCLA is to pick up someone who's never been an HC before and wants their next step in their career. The majority of established HCs won't want to join a football program that's financially crippled and has weak NIL support. -

Chip Kelly Leaving UCLA For OC Job At Ohio State!
kirklandduck replied to Babyjesus615's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
David Shaw would be an interesting hire. He's a solid coach who could recruit at Stanford despite the academic requirements there. I imagine those would be lower at UCLA, though the athletic department's financials being bad probably puts similar handcuffs to recruiting both players and coaches. -

You know the work environment is bad when you leave a Power 5 HC position for an OC position. My impression is that Kelly and the UCLA AD really don't like each other. -
Tosh Offered Oregon DC Twice Before?
kirklandduck replied to kirklandduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
That makes sense to me. Way to dodge a bullet Tosh! -
This short video popped up on my YouTube feed. It's Tosh Lupoi giving an interview and talking about Lanning being the reason why he came to Oregon. But he also mentions in passing that he was offered the DC position twice already in the past. I can't recall him being offered before but I can only think maybe Mario reached out to him both times when he lost Avalos and DeRuyter?
