Colorado Leaving the Pac-12 for the Big-12?
Big surprise, it's past mid-day Wednesday and no "huge announcement".

FishDuck Take: Oregon Spring Game Concerns and Confidence
I'd argue the level of competition is higher in Michigan than in Arizona.

FishDuck Take: Oregon Spring Game Concerns and Confidence
Losing Dante Moore at the last minute really hurt. IMO he's the most college-ready QB in the 2023 class...a 4 year high school starter and 2 state championships. You don't earn that spot based on potential, he has the goods and it shows.

QUAACK! Luke Moga, 3-Star Quarterback, Commits to Oregon Ducks
This is surprising after he previously postponed his announcement. I wonder if this means Michael Van Buren is going elsewhere?

QUAAACK! 2024 DL Tionne Gray is a Duck
6'6" 295+lb defensive tackle on Oregon's lineup? Yes please!

What Oregon Spends on Football Recruiting Compared to Other Big-Time Teams
Seems like Ohio State is getting the most bang for their buck at the moment.

PAC-10 New Media Deal - Damn the Doubters and Take Heart
The CW is channel 11-1 OVA in Washington. Locally it's called KSTW and broadcast in HD (1080i). I'm watching it right now.

Oregon Ducks Football: Nix’s Shot at the Heisman
It's also critically important that Will Stein identifies solid 2nd and 3rd receiving options, Troy Franklin will not be enough. Whether that takes the form of Treshon Holden/Terrance Furgeson or some other duo combination, Nix needs 2 other receivers that will have at minimum 500 yards each of receiving for the season.

Pac-12 Media Deal - “Nothing to Suggest” a Deal is Coming Anytime Soon
At this point I've pretty much tuned out all the news regarding the Pac12 media deal. Whatever happens will happen and when it happens I'll tune back in. Until then I just peruse articles about recruiting, spring practice, and observations about how the offense/defense will be for the Fall.

Oregon’s College Football Playoff: The One That Got Away
Yup. Cristobal's conservative playcalling and insistence on a power run offense pulled from the '90s really hurt Oregon at the most crucial times.

Why the Pac-12 Is Struggling to Get a Media Deal
I also posted this in another thread but it sounds like FOX is now back in negotiations in some kind of capacity.

Oregon and the Pac-12 in a Six-Year Trial?
Interesting, apparently FOX has jumped back into the fray. Might explain the lack of news about a potential deal today.

Canzano: Dana Altman Is Fuming... But He's Not Leaving Oregon
I can't say I blame him. He's human and everyone gets frustrated at times. He was obviously frustrated at his team's play through the season and particularly against Wisconsin. Plus, it's not like he was pulling a Bobby Knight and throwing chairs onto the court!

CBS Sports Dennis Dodd at it Again
Sounds like Dodd is either paid off or desperate for clicks.

One has to wonder how it would've shaken out had Chip Kelly were able to get MM to Philadelphia when he coached there.

Canzano: Pac-12 Officially Exploring Four Expansion Schools
I can't add any more than that, this is exactly what I'm thinking.

Canzano: Pac-12 Officially Exploring Four Expansion Schools
I was hoping they'd be more aggressive with expansion than just 2 schools. It'll be interesting to see which teams bubble to the surface.

ION TV Enters the P-12 Media Rights Contest
Stations - ION IONTELEVISION.COM A list of ION stations looks like it's available just about everywhere in the US. Shows | ION IONTELEVISION.COM ION's line up of current shows on-air. Check out our schedule page to see upcoming airdates. Their programming slate is obviously tilted towards a narrow demographic however. If you're into crime shows then you'll love ION lol

ION TV Enters the P-12 Media Rights Contest
The entertaining part of that Twitter thread is the responses, mostly negative concerning what kind of content they currently see on ION. It's completely gone over their heads that they all have direct access to that channel so any Pac12 content that goes on there would be instantly available.

Report: Ducks to Hire Mike Cavanaugh as Assistant OL Coach/Offensive Analyst
Given the title includes an analyst role, he's probably there to give Terry a lot of advice off the field and let him implement on the practice field. Good way to get around the 10 assistant coach limit.

ION TV Enters the P-12 Media Rights Contest
Well that's an interesting one. ION is on multiple streaming platforms (like YouTube TV as you mention) but also available on the cable networks like Xfinity, DirectTV, and Dish Network. I have Sling so I've seen ION in passing as I flip through the channels. It's also available free over the air if you have an antenna. So they have mass distribution all over the place, the question for me would be what their viewership numbers look like? The few times I've looked at ION I've only ever seen re-runs of tv shows. If ION decides to throw a ton of money at the Pac12 and market the heck out of it then it could work.

Changing Minds With Changing Circumstances - At This Moment, What Do YOU Want For the Ducks?
Admittedly I'm a little more traditionalist when it comes to the Pac12 and so would rather Oregon remain there. I think if whatever media contract gets finalized, if it's within the ballpark of Big12 payouts (between 28 and 32 million) then it's fine. But I do agree with others that the Pac12 needs to evolve and by that I mean expand....aggressively. As it stands right now, I would put the Pac12 at #4 of the 5 power conferences between the Big12 and ACC. California is still an enormously rich recruiting area but the conference absolutely needs to expand its footprint to Texas, which is why I'm on board with pulling in SMU. Oregon's 2023 recruiting class has the highest percentage of Texas recruits in the program's history so far and I would like to see that continue. So having a home-and-home with a Dallas-based team can only be a benefit to both the Ducks and the conference in that regard. Yes I know SMU as it stands currently doesn't pull much local viewership since it competes with multiple professional and other college teams in the area. But you can bet that those media numbers instantly improve with teams like Oregon and Washington visiting at least every other year. Not to mention the possibility of expanding to other available teams in the area after the conference gains a stable foothold in DFW. The Big12 understood early on that expansion is survival which is why they pulled in BYU, Cincy, etc. They're better off as a 14 team league with 4 mid-majors replacing the two big powers than being a milquetoast 10 member organization.

Apple TV+ Could Decide Fate of PAC 12
Bottom line for the Pac-12: Does it choose dollars or exposure? WWW.ON3.COM Interviews with prominent TV industry sources paint the picture of a weakened Pac-12 facing a pivotal decision: Maximize dollars or exposure? Interesting article that just went up today talking about this very subject. One passage caught my eye: The first line probably explains why Apple is gaining steam in the race lately, they may be willing to let go of some of the better games to a linear partner in exchange for broadcasting all of the rest. There's obviously a ton of back-and-forth going on behind the scenes between all these potential partners that we're not privy to so it's useless to make any hard predictions as to what will happen. One thing I will disagree with the article's author on is his discounting of the intelligence of school alumni. He makes it sound like we're old fogies unable to navigate the streaming landscape and will avoid being relegated to watching games on laptops and phones....as if smart tvs haven't been a thing for the last 10+ years 🤦♂️

Apple TV+ Could Decide Fate of PAC 12
Apple TV+ needs content to keep growing, they're far behind the other streaming services in that regard. This means GK should be able to get better terms or at least leverage it for higher payouts from Amazon/ESPN.
