  1. Can't forget this classic! Elmo & Patsy - Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer
  2. This is a transition year so of course recruiting will take a hit. Even with Riley on board USC's recruiting ranking isn't particularly good at the moment (#82).
  3. This doesn't mean the younger QBs won't get playing time, I'm hoping McClendon will give at least one of them a shot in the 2nd half.
  4. The more I read about Morgan Malchow, the more I like him. At every stop he's been a key cog in recruiting top 10 classes, this is good news. Looking at a couple A&M sites, quite a few of their fans aren't happy with this development.
  5. It depends on the mood of the Ohio State players. If they come in feeling deflated because they feel like they should have been in the CFP then Utah has a great shot at winning. If they come in extremely motivated and ticked off because they feel like they should have been in the CFP then it's gonna get ugly.
  6. But not unexpected. Things should improve once the rest of the coaching staff is settled.
  7. I certainly hope Lanning is able to keep McClendon on the staff, he's an excellent recruiter and a good WR coach. I also hope he holds onto Joe Salave'a, Jim Mastro, and Rod Chance at minimum.
  8. A lot of this won't be cleared up until Lanning fills out his coaching roster. Most recruits want to know who their potential position coaches are going to be before making a decision.
  9. I can definitely see both of those being factors. I mean, what kind of salary would Wilcox command based on his career results so far? Definitely no where near $7 million...
  10. We may never know the actual details and sequence of events that led up to the offer to Wilcox and his declining of it. All we can do is speculate based on what we do know. My guess is that there was a lot of pressure on Mullen to include consideration of candidates with Oregon roots due to the impression of Oregon being a "stepping stone" program (it's really not). So he brought in multiple Oregon boosters beyond just Phil Knight to hear their thoughts and came up with a plan for Wilcox and/or Chip Kelly BUT with a back-up plan with a candidate of his own (Lanning). That allowed him to cover his butt if Wilcox accepted and then went mediocre or bombed in the next few years as well as getting his candidate should he decline the offer. Mullen is smarter than a lot of people give him credit for.
  11. That first game of the season is going to be brutal. As if it wasn't tough enough playing Georgia...but integrating brand new offensive and defensive philosophies as well as a slew of new coaches at the same time? Ouch. Not trying to be pessimistic, just realistic 🙂 The timing for next season's pre-conference schedule is just awful for a regime change...
  12. I'd even tolerate the occasional dumb quote from him (as long as it's not horribly bad) as long as he generally behaved well and won games.
  13. I feel like the unknown status of Coach McClendon contributed to him going to Michigan...if perhaps Lanning had already signed McClendon up to come back then maybe Clemons signs with Oregon.
  14. This one was important given that Jayson Jones is transferring.
  15. Hopefully he'll follow suit soon. They haven't really said they're a package deal, though it's kind of been implied. Tucker committing is a good nudge in the right direction for Oregon to get Florence too, though he might be waiting to see who Lanning hires for his potential position coach before committing.
  16. I don't know, this would a be a huge stretch. I love LaMike, one of the all time Oregon greats. But he hasn't even been a GA on a coaching staff...
  17. How is that? They play the same position and both are blue chip recruits, though Moss is higher ranked.
  18. Sounds like perhaps UW is not showing a lot of confidence in Huard taking over.
  19. I don't know anything about these guys, I'll be eager to read about any official profile articles that will come out about them.
  20. If Lanning flips Darris Smith, that might deter Cyrus Moss from considering Oregon.
  21. That's a downer, he has the size and potential to be a really good DT for Oregon. He should at least wait and see who is the DL coach before making a decision.
  22. Harrison Taggart will sign with Oregon tomorrow I like this kid. He's a faster linebacker than anyone Oregon currently has on the roster and would potentially help in coverage which was a significant weakness in this season's defense.
  23. This places a rather large importance on retaining as many of the best recruiters on the old staff as possible...McClendon, Mastro, also Salave'a. It would be great if Mirabal stays but I know that's highly unlikely.
