  1. DG is definitely a "baller", which becomes all the more evident the bigger the game. Does not seem that he believes there is NO window he can hit a receiver through and not afraid to push that. (ie: three redzone INT the previous two games.) Knows how to use his "pocket" efficiently and strategically to make the most out of what the defense is showing/giving him on any particular play. When he is in run mode has great field vision and the ability to make players miss in the open field. A Refusal, by nature, to allow his team to lose. Reminds me a whole lot of another Oregon QB from back in the day, Jeremiah Massolli. Problem DG has, and will be the focus for defensive coordinators the rest of the season, is that he is only 5'10" in a league with some Very Large men on the defensive lines. A pass being batted down, or "missing" a streaking wide open receiver on a critical, gotta have it, fourth down conversion in a must have the win game, would be devastating. There is Nothing DG can control about that but I trust our coaches have noticed this... potential weakness...in our offensive attack and will make the appropriate gameplans to minimize the vulnerability. I am definitely onboard riding DG to our first B1G championship....and maybe a whole lot more. 's
  2. Oregon Ducks football sees new era ushered in by Dan Lanning DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM The Ducks had every reason to lose to Ohio State, but they didn’t. A new era of Oregon football might be here. I, for one who's been a Fan of and followed Oregon Football since 1993, this article hits home! GO Ducks!
  3. LOL....Bet there are a crap-ton of tOSU fans waking up this morning looking for Any reason that there is a 1 in the loss column, and are in Second place in the B1G. If we had lost WE could have said the same thing about Mighty Oregon this morning, but we didn't. If this sets up a burgeoning "hate" rivalry with one of the most respected, successful, determined BlueBlood programs in all of college football. Then, So Be It. GO Oregon Ducks!!
  4. Absolutely Amazing Game. Both QB's were "on"! tOSU running backs owned the first half. Oregon's owned the second half. Time management was spot-on and the "correct" decisions based upon the current situation where made, and "mostly" executed. Both teams have some Very, very Good, NFL caliber, receivers. The Oregon Fans made up for a very good travel showing by tOSU fans. So much so, that I believe at least Six of the eight penalties against tOSU can be laid directly at the Oregon Fans making it Impossible for them to think...let alone hear, at the line of scrimmage. Neither team believed themselves the inferior. For me. The Best and most Entertaining game in the Dan Lanning Era! I WILL Definitely be watching the replay and cannot wait till these two teams meet up in a rematch in a couple months! Oregon Ducks Football Absolutely Rocks!!
  5. GGGGGGOOOOOOOO DDDDDDUUUUUUUCCCCKKKS! BIG, BIG WIN!!!!
  6. Ok....NOW the D has our victory in their hands. Probably having a defensive minded head coach is a good thing at this moment!
  7. THE Drive of the season is upon us. Burn six minutes off the clock and finish with a TD or FG. and we win!
  8. Wow! What a first half! "Ref'in" could be....better, but mistakes are not fazing em at all. Eliminate those in the second half and Ducks will win this game! 's
  9. Wellll...make Another pot! Fellow Duck friend. I want some of that too.
  10. Ahhh Gotta Love It! Perceptions. As with most anything this day and age are mostly controlled by the "narrative". Just take the last two months surrounding Oregon Football. Training camp Oregon was "perceived" as a plug and play team with recruits and transfers. Both fans and talking heads believed it would just be a continuation, at ALL levels, from where we left off last year. Several "experts" had us in the National Championship game (meeting tOSU for a third time) BEFORE a single game of the 2024 season had even been played. First few weeks of the season Oregon football's perverbial sky was falling! Sputtering run game, more sacks on our QB than ALL of last year, opponent "chunk" run plays through screens and second level escapes. Team was supposedly in disarray and dropped in the polls while still getting the wins. Few weeks later Oregon is now back to #3 in the polls with the opportunity AND ability to continue on the "upward" swing in the current narrative, thus perception, of who and what "That Team Out West" is (really?) all about. So if Oregon plays to their abilities. Limits and minimizes mistakes. EXECUTES on the four or five critical plays that will most likely determine the outcome of this particular game. Then yes! The perception, and perhaps a growing mystic, about "That Team Out West" that plays in a "quaint" 60,000 capacity stadium, with all them "pretty" uniforms will Finally move that perception to Respect! Something that this program has been building towards for a quarter of a century! NFL-Lite...meet your new "Duck Daddy's"! 's
  11. Oregon Wins! 28-27 Turnover the Buckeyes 2 times Sack the tOSU QB 3 times Oregon Passing Yards 223 GO DUCKS!
  12. Autzen Stadium. The ROAR behind the onfield football, Fine-Tuned Machine! Let's GO QUACKERS!!!
  13. Until robotic "AI" is roaming the fields making calls to the letter of the law of the game we will ALWAYS have human judgement, bias, and error in calling a game properly. I always hope for an evenhanded, professional, and unfiltered call from our human referees and game officials; but I have(had) lived under the scourge of, "The conference formally known as the PAC" Officiating for a quarter of a century sooooo.... desensitized to crap officiating by now! Let's hope the balance of Saturdays game doesn't get tipped, one way or another, by the assigned officiating crew. GO Quackers!
  14. The Oregon Ducks Football team HAS NOT been very kind to "Vegas", regarding betting props. (I'm sure Charles, amongst others, can attest to that) Believe me when I tell you that the odds Makers are a bit "shy" about properly setting Oregon. My experience is that "Vegas" Always makes up for earlier "bloodbaths" regarding gambling....so I think in reality it's a tossup and are hoping for enough of a betting shift to make up for any earlier....misses regarding gambling. I expect the Ducks to "cover"! But, please don't listen to any of my "off the cuff" theories. Especially regarding any of your hard earned money! If I was correct most of the time then I would be "raking it in" AND definitely NOT sharing the secrets to my gambling successes...LOL! GO Ducks....ignore what Vegas has to say
  15. Even though this game has been "circled" on the calendar for many NFL-lite pundits, the teams seem to be focused on the processes that have gotten them to this week, in a very long season. I hope and believe that both organization have focused on the "tasks at hand" and have been working to improve their "product" leading up to this game. I am expecting a very close and competitive game with the final scores being in the twenties. (Will put forward my official guesstimate once Charles opens up the prediction thread.) Point is that with a 12 team playoff a single loss to a TOP 5 team is not going to hurt either teams chances for making the playoffs with a decent enough seed. That being said, the loser WILL have only a one game "buffer" and a second loss before a possible B1G championship game could very easily require an invite AND a win to said championship game to ensure a slot in the playoffs Having three losses at the end of the season WILL preclude Some 3-loss team from the playoffs, depending upon how the rest of the conference's seasons go. Rather Not have that "possibility" hanging over our heads come the first of December. Just play to our capabilities and talent, then there should be NO problems. Easy-Peasy, right? GO DUCKS! Beat down the Buckeyes!
  16. LOL! You know your a "National Brand" when a major corporation uses part of their "immense" advertising budget using YOUR brand to sell THEIR brand. What a time to be a "Duck"! 's !
  17. P. "Fawn"baum Is part of the reason that there was such a "mystic" surrounding Alabama in the first place. He has been, and shall always be, the "homer" mouthpiece and "salesman" for the SEC And Alabama. (since the "early" days of the BCS). Not saying that what Was accomplished in Tuscaloosa should be...discounted, but the "hype", certaintly help "polish" the image to "mystic" levels. Which in turn helped ensure the steady flow of top recruits and assistants to Tuscaloosa each year. Transfer portal, NIL, burgeoning NFL-Lite is changing all of that. And then there is the 1 in a hundred scenario. Any two teams could meet 100 times and regardless of talent level, one of the two will win at LEAST one of those games. If for nothing but simple blind luck! This years Alabama team simply may have ran into that statistical anomoly. Kinda like OBD Almost did against Idaho. Guess it's time to assign a "new" NFL-lite team as the one carrying all the "mystic" of the sport into the future. Any takers?! (Hint: Jerry Allen can become Our P. Fawn baum! ) GO Ducks!
  18. I beg to differ. It was OREGON and Chip Kelly with the "blur" offense that put the fear of God; and a needed primary shift in the SEC from Ole timey trench warfare football, to what we saw under Chip. The SEC, and many of the Saban "coaching tree" coaches (Kiffin, Sarkesian, Orgeron, etc) acquired positions in the conference formally known as the PAC, to learn and expand upon the new "offensive paradigm shift" that occurred during that 10 year stretch in and around Chips 4 very successful seasons as Head Coach. They took that knowledge base back to the SEC and instituted more prolific offenses in that conference and now "getting playmakers open and free in space" is what most successful SEC teams employ in their offenses. Have to hand it to them for looking beyond their hubris and embracing the new approach to offensive football. But not all of what is good and competitive in NFL-Lite can be layed at the feet of the SEC, or the coaching trees that arise from said teams within that conference. As per usual it is the "talking heads" and the current narrative that is being pushed that convinces us otherwise. Also, when does a "coaching tree" end for a particular coach and starts anew for one of his prodigies that begins to have successes, that meet or exceed their mentors? (Here's looking at you Sir Dan Lanning). Either way NFL-Lite continues to evolve to....whatever it is going to become. I am grateful, at least for now, that OBD will continue to be part of it all. GO Ducks Football!
  19. As it has been since the turn of the century. "Saturdays just mean more" in the SEC, primarily because Sundays Are reserved for "other passions", most prevalent in the SEC footprint. It has ALWAYS been the intent to build upon that, thus the "new". NFL-Lite, with most of the "advantages" purposely set up to favor the SEC, being the primary instigators of said new league. Don't like it. Never have. But, it's the facts and realities of "college/NFL-lite" football in 2024. GO Ducks! Rise above the manipulation and roadblocks places before you and show what REAL Champions look and feel like! GO QUACKERS!
  20. Well one thing for sure. Over the next 9 Days we will get a whole lot better assessment and an accurate direction that OBD_V2014 will be this season. Time for OBD to reamerge as a "Top Duck" in the national narrative! GO Quackers!!!!!
  21. Ducks Win 46-9 4 T.O. 4 Sacks 304 Yds Passing GO DUCKS!
  22. In the 2026 season, All Bets Will be off. If you are to have two "super-conferences" (NFL-esque AFC/NFC) then any previous "agreements" between scheduling partners will become Null and Void or "bought" out with the massive amounts of TV money involved with the forming of the new NFL-lite. No Super conference will leave their members uncompensated or they will be reimbursed in some fashion for any changes needing to be made to scheduling. Value of Strength of Schedule will be another very interesting metric that the selection committee, for Decades, has been very....inconsistent...with. No more scheduling, OR Rewarding WEAK 11 cupcakes, nor does any super conference get to use the old excuse of being "le' tired" and can't "get it up" for another conference opponent. This time of year EVERY team is all "black and blue" from the long, physical, season regardless of conference. An Even Playing Field is a MUST! Regardless of how it happens to go, there will be winners and losers in the process. Traditions in college football will finally be dead and buried with the rise of NFL-lite. All we fans of the genre can do is "adapt" our entrenched ideas and expectations of what the sport "formally known as college football" is destined to become. And yes. For better or for worse, I am glad that OBD are on the Inside...looking outward, versus the other way around. GO OREGON DUCKS!!!!
  23. Well now. Expectations are not met with realities??!! Color me Duck green and yellow! Honestly fans tend to simplify ANY sporting event down to the lowest common denominators for what they want, through the eyes of expectations. Actually Playing and winning the games is what the whole sporting world is about and if everything played out "as expected" then what would be the reason for even playing?!? There have been Many games in college football this season that could bring disparity upon a program based on a game or two's performance. Few games last year Alabama looked ... average and if not for a one score win against Georgia and a hail Mary pass against Auburn they never would have got a whiff of the playoffs. This year Georgia had a rough game against Kentucky followed up by a uninspiring first half down at Alabama. Not a fan of either but I'm sure some of their fans "railed" against their teams not performing to their "expectations"! As for Oregon. Remember Texas Tech game last year (with another previous Duck teammate with personal motivations on the otherside). If not for a scoop and return for a TD OBD may have very well lost that game. Or how about Washington State during Bo's first year as our QB. ALMOST lost that one also and still remember fans bemoaning the hire of Lanning because of that performance and the blowout loss to Georgia in his FIRST GAME as a Head Coach. Another significant point that I have mentioned before and I think still currently is a valid one. Our Beloved Ducks are now a team that EVERYONE has circled on Their calendar. As much as we have had games against teams like Ohio St., Georgia, and (used to be) USC. Beating "The Ducks" becomes a real "feather in the cap" for any program that is able to accomplish such a feat. Our Beloved Ducks are now a program with a target on their backs, and will get THE BEST from each opponent they play, week in and week out. OBD are still "learning" how to be the hunted vs the hunter. Emotionally and physically that can be quite draining. Point is. It is fair and worthy of discussion any and all "perceived" issues or problems we as fans believe to be part of our teams...limitations. It's what makes this Ducks Forum so engaging. But, I for one, will always tend to look at the "glass half full" rather than throw my hands up and write off the season, or any of my own hopes and expectations, simply because I have an unrealistic "fanboy" vision for what I am seeing on the field. This is a Very Good Football team, coached by some very good coaches, which shows marked improvement each and every game I watch. None of the games have been perfect nor complete (regardless of DL's comments regarding OBD's performance against UCLA), but I believe that they can "compete" with anyone in the country and over the next two months we all will get to see what the actual ceiling is for OBD version 2024. I still see a 11-1, maybe a 10-2 regular season. I would be disappointed with anything more than two losses and missing out on the B1G conference championship game, but hope springs eternal and as I have "hopes" for an entertaining and successful season I will continue to note the areas in need of improvement but will appreciate the high level of football being played by OBD. Win or Lose, I think everyone else should do so also. Makes the entire "fanboy" experience a lot more ... Enjoyable. Let's Go Ducks, prove you mettle for season 2024. 's
  24. Oregon Wins in the way that they Should Win! 49-16 3 TO 3 Sacks 333 Yds Passing GO Ducks!
