  1. Just curious why would people not watch OBD on Peacock? I’m not a fan of the service or anything, but it comes for free with my Xfinity internet, and would cost $8 for a month if I didn’t get it for free. To me, seeing a Duck game or two for $8 is less than a trip to Starbucks…so I’m genuinely curious why no Peacock?
  2. Right on. IMO - As soon as things moved to a playoff instead of a massive bowl system by invitation, the notion of a “league” with 130 teams for the “big boys” became ridiculous.
  3. One thing he’s right about, the conference championship game is devalued and should just be eliminated. The minute the field expanded from four the conference championship games became as meaningful as bowl games, imo.
  4. https://maaw.info/GadgetsandGames/APFinalFootballRankings.htm Fun game, pick any random year from 1950 on. It’s almost impossible to land on a year that doesn’t have a top-10 with at least 6 teams currently in the Big-2. More often than not you’ll find 7-8 such teams. If FSU, Miami, and ND were to move to the big-2 the ratio becomes ridiculous.
  5. Final Poll History I get into this stuff quite a bit, but take a look at 2001 and 2025. A good sampling of different eras spanning a quarter century. It’s pretty much the same list. The precipitous drop of Colorado really stands out when looking year to year, youch. Just a wild guess that this will look 90% similar in 2035. The same schools will all continue to adapt, though they’ll almost all be in two much larger conferences, most likely
  6. Spot on article. It seems like there will be years when what you have on the roster at QB will be better than what’s out there in the portal market, and I think this was one of those years. We’ve had a history of great and not so great transfers at QB. IMO this is the beauty of the college game, no one knows for sure.
  7. Sort of? Two strongest conferences get the most teams in. Seems to generally be assumed 10-2 in the SEC/B1G is better than 10-2 in the ACC/B12, but the sample size isn’t large. Would ND ever qualify at 9-3?
  8. I say good! Hopefully another piece of the puzzle towards joining a conference. They don’t have the incentive to do so right now, but scheduling the likes of WSU and Bowling Green instead of the USC’s of the world might help change their tune….maybe.
  9. It’s difficult to imagine 10-2 in the B1G not making the playoff. 9-3 will eventually happen
  10. In my world (and I cut the cord years ago), this only has meaning if/when it becomes the only way to get ESPN.
  11. System designed for a different era, up there with bowl games imo.
  12. As someone who previously lived in NC for a number of years, the reason BB is at UNC IMO is because UNC isn’t serious about football. They figure if it doesn’t work they’ll at least get an uptick in season ticket sales for 2 years…if it works out that’s an unexpected bonus.
  13. I’ve really stepped away from getting involved with the names of specific recruits until they show up for fall camp…that being said, don’t we have a very full room of very good QB prospects and not a single senior to be? In the transfer age, it seems a year too soon to add a 5-star QB out of HS. Just my hot take, but I get that coming in second is never fun.
  14. Well in hindsight, one observation from last year is that Jabbar Muhammad was nowhere close to as advertised. He was supposed to be a first round, shut down a side of the field kind of guy, there was a reason we brought him on. Secondary seems like it was actually pretty sub-par but we masked that for the most part against teams with a lot of relatively poor QB play. I would think/hope our young talent will really start to show in the secondary this year.
  15. Most entertaining spring game since Marcus’ coming out party imo. Feels like we have 4 good QBs, but it’s always fun to watch people fall in love with the backup(s). I left the game feeling like we had a pretty clear #1 based upon upside and clear arm talent. Not trying to knock Novasad, as I think we’d do great with him, but he was 5 of 9 with the bulk of his numbers coming on one pass. I’m not drawing any conclusion from that. I’ll be surprised if we don’t lose him though, he seems very capable of being a starter on a top-20 team. My biggest takeaway is that it would be shocking to not win at least 10 games. The offense will do Oregon things no matter who is at QB, and I think the D will be as good as ever.
  16. I’m not big on baseball, but was mesmerized by your updates! This calls for a stealth visit to a Beavis board!
  17. BTW - I’d like to thank CU for really doing their part in helping the historic PAC succeed. CU hasn’t won a bowl game since 2004, when they took home the Houston Bowl trophy.
  18. Do what we do, it’s fine. Ditto CU. If they’re into retiring the number of a 2 year QB that led them to a 9-4 year his senior year with an Alamo Bowl loss, by all means, tell the world how good you are.
  19. To me, sitting out just before the spring game and threatening to sit out prior to the playoff is different than taking a better deal in the off-season. Deserved to be roasted, take a pay cut, and reassigned to a terrible team. Well played.
  20. In our new world order this is usually a good sign.
  21. Did this actually happen? I heard not remotely close to a done deal.
  22. Not sure if there was a strategy here, but it backfired if there was. With the no transfer within the SEC spring rule he’s almost guaranteed he’ll have to enter the portal twice or take a lot less $$. Outside the SEC there are probably like 6 schools that would even entertain paying what he currently makes let alone what he was sitting out for.
  23. Making over $3m/year (if he leaves after 3 years) to develop yourself for the NFL, at a top notch program with no expenses and need more? Someone is definitely playing this kid imo.
  24. Except Oregon already said no thanks, allegedly.
