No. 3 Texas A&M Down 30-3 at Halftime!
Exhibit A of why only 3 P4 teams had less than 2 losses in last years’s bracket. Long season.

Today’s Games of Note!
Think we root for getting as highly ranked as possible imo. TAM currently down big. Go team chaos.

Those Damned Beavers
A bit of a reality check for Beavis that might fly under the radar. James Franklin is the leading candidate at VaTech as of today. That is probably a program Beavis would have considered themselves (incorrectly) better than 3 years ago. Franklin wouldn’t even give them a whiff now.

Conference Tiebreakers Explained
I mean, the team will never aim to not win the conference, that’s not how college sports work…but we saw rust versus rest on full display last year.

Those Damned Beavers
That they were. The 1 year rental team (2000) before the portal even existed. We’ll never know. They certainly seemed very good but that was a weird year for the PAC. Only OBD, UW, and Beavis had more than 6 wins overall that season. Beavis only beat two teams that ended up ranked after the bowls. 12 team playoff would have been amazing that year.

Conference Tiebreakers Explained
Yep, given the track record, I prefer a 5-8 seed for sure

Oregon Not Championship Caliber?
Given the relative fair number of top-end losses the SEC has out of conference in 2025, it gets a bit more hypocritical than usual. If Georgia loses to GaTech we’d have Georgia, Alabama, and Texas all having OOC losses. Given how these teams have dominated in the SEC, one could argue the SEC is a top-heavy conference dominated by unproven teams that didn’t dominate out of conference. Oh, throw in WSU taking Ole Miss to the wire, the same Cougs that lost to Beavis. How is this the clear-cut best conference in 2025?

Oregon Not Championship Caliber?
Indeed. It’s amazing how timing and recency of your loss skews things, but it makes sense to some degree really. The collective CFB mind glosses over that Alabama lost to a terrible FSU team…that did actually happen, much as it might strain the brain of the SEC general fervor to recall. The team that is currently undefeated in the SEC with 3 weeks to go, lost to the team currently in 15th in the ACC…by 14.

Canzano: Implosion of Pac-12 Working for Nobody -- except Oregon Ducks
Pardon my French, but 🤡 is such a knob. Gaslighting pranks feeding into victimhood. He’s hitched his wagon to the new PAC and should be trying to pivot. IMO, the PAC was dying a slow death as soon as it didn’t scoop up Texas and Oklahoma to expand, we just didn’t fully realize it until the last media deal expired.

Report: UCLA Close to Finalizing Deal to Move from Rose Bowl to SoFi Stadium
Pro market, have to be relevant to get peoples attention no matter where you play. That being said, it’d be an upgrade for fan access and probably for recruiting. Does make me think back to the 80s when people thought doming Autzen was the answer.

Big Ten Schedulers Don't Seem to Want Oregon to Repeat, or Even Succeed
Completely believe this. At some level a newb coming in from the PAC and winning at everything is somewhat embarrassing.

Crazy Coaching Carousel Could Seriously Affect Ducks
Is Smith a desirable hire for anyone looking in the P4? He’s tanking pretty hard and on at least a warm-seat. 0-6 in conference and giving up almost double what they’ve scored (in conference) doesn’t exactly scream “lure me away.”

Ducks DROP in AP Poll?
AP voters always just look at the actual official playoff rankings once they hit, I’m surprised we aren’t 9th.

Could Oregon Miss the College Football Playoff?
💯 I too am baffled. Making the playoff and losing in the first round is better than any other non-playoff scenario imo. Anything can happen in a tournament and being able to say “we’ve made the playoff every year” would be something very few programs will be able to say to recruits. Certainly better than talking about losing the Frosted Flakes Bowl.

Crazy Coaching Carousel Could Seriously Affect Ducks
Love your hot takes, but I would guess if MSU opens up, it’s because JS gets fired. He feels a bit damaged to me. I like your OC suggestions, I’m not particularly attached to Stein personally. What is it, year 2? Pppht. There will be absolute recruiting carnage once the coaching dominos start to fall. We could lose a few if Stein goes, but there will be a TON out there to be had.

My B1G Struggle
Absolutely agree. Just because we’re doing what is best for us in 2025, it doesn’t mean it gets my juices flowing. Most of the B1G conference schedule is a slog, and with the size of the conference and the way the schedule rotates, it would take 25 years before I had a chance of caring about Rutgers, etc. This is all essentially USC, UCLA, Cal, and to a lesser degree ASU & UW’s fault imo. Those should all be great brands, but they greatly underperformed the last 15 years overall, which was absolutely fatal for the PAC. Don’t even get me started on CU, they joined and promptly became irrelevant.

Could Oregon Miss the College Football Playoff?
We could easily go 9-3 imo, so yes we could absolutely miss the playoff. There is value in making the playoff even if you don’t expect to win it; $$, a great experience for young players, minimum goal for a successful year, recruiting tool, etc. I personally can’t imagine any scenario where playing in a bowl game is the preference. Making the expanded playoff each year should be the minimum expectation moving forward. Favorable match-ups, key injuries, and getting hot can easily lead to a 4 game win streak and title. ND and OSU both experienced elements of this last year. If we go 10-2, I think when and how we get a second loss is everything. Generally speaking, the earlier you lose the better. If we have to have one more loss, losing this week is the best option for making the playoff at 10-2 imo. Going 10-2 with a lopsided loss in Seattle to end the season is what would put us in the most jeopardy at 10-2. Let’s not test that theory 😆

What Will the Playoff Committee's 1st Ranking Reveal - Will it Come Up B1G?
I’ll say again, only 4 teams that made the field last year had fewer than 2 losses, and one of those was G6 Boise. That’s 66.67% of the field with 2+ losses my friends. No reason to expect any different this year. We have a full month of November football to go….stuff will happen. They can talk about their advanced metrics all they want , but until I see otherwise, no 10-2 P2 will be left out of the field imo.

“Midseason” Verdict?
Going in, I thought we’d go 10-2 and win a playoff game at home. Mostly still on target, but PSU completely flaming out probably means we need 11-1 to host. Not everyone currently in the top-12 is going to win out, I have little doubt a couple teams with 2 losses will host a game, but looks like SOS will cost us 3-4 spots in the pecking order.

Smoo Beats The U!
Horrible clock management all the way around. I don’t think he has that much leeway in the 12-team playoff era. That much talent and 0 for 2 making the playoffs out of the ACC? Guessing he’s gone if they don’t make it next year.

Heads Up For You Tube TV streamers
Every carrier has this happen periodically, there’s no perfect answer I know of. Free trial of Fubo over the weekend would probably work though.
