Players following coaches isn’t an exact science, but doesn’t seem like a mass movement to SEC bottom dwelling Kentucky would be a real thing, be similar to what ASU poached I would think.

Next episode of Beavisville, “Why Did We Hire THIS Guy?” So far by my estimation, every Shephard public interaction has been cringe worthy and Beavis fans seem to be nervously embracing everything he says…for now. The article/transcript of his intro presser was just awkward. Once they realize he’s not bringing 20 players from Alabama with him, the bloom will fall off quickly imo.

Great read! The only outrage is with ND and their fans, or perhaps NBC…same as every year with the first team out in every college sport. Ole Miss, TAM, OBD…all would have had cause to be outraged in the old 4 team PO. These giant, unbalanced conferences of 2025 would not have worked well at all in the 4 team format.

Hear they’re all filled now, some solid 5-7 post season action!

USC - Just completed year 4 with their coach and have zero playoff appearances or conference titles to show for it…yet still think they’re elite. I think we have pretty clear proof that in the 12 team playoff era, ANY P4 program can be successful within 2 years with the right investments and leadership. They keep failing without a shred of humility.

They aren’t the only program opting out of a bowl, the bowl system is completely dysfunctional and has been for years. Would I really want to see us play (and be enthusiastic about it) in the Vegas Bowl with half of our team if we had gone 9-3? It is time for the bowl system to go bye bye imo.

I believe I just saw that ISU and KSU both declined bowl invitations and that when dipping down to 5-7 teams for bowl selections, academic scores will be considered. Side note, bowls need to go.

Brace yourself. With the SEC switching to 9 conference games next year there will be at least one 3 loss team making it every year moving forward, imo.

I personally don’t think he is the answer for next year by any stretch, but I have no doubt and trust the coaches if they think he’s currently our second best guy. If Moore goes pro and Smith isn’t ready next year, we will need a portal guy imo. There are no mid-season trades, roll with what we got.

Highly doubt the coaches would do anything aside from having the second best guy be QB2. Win now is college football in 2025.

Love it! As to weather, it’s true they have terrible weather in VA in December, but they have pretty good weather most of their season, I’d give us a slight weather edge.

It’s definitely not an upgrade over Franklin. This is what happens when you fire a coach mid-season without a plan and you think it’s 1994.

I always believe in promoting from within if I have well qualified people, but don’t hesitate to go outside when needed. Dan seems to be of the same mindset, thumbs up!

A program that almost got the death penalty, completely face planted in a year they were favored to make the final 4, and now has one of the most botched coaching searches in recent memory….should probably not be “doubling down” on their greatness at the expense of others. If OBD are a fraud, what does that make Pedo State?

Was more of a Beavis slam, not aimed at you my man! As far as I can tell, Beavis hired an HC who has never been responsible for play calling, which is hilarious to me.

Until they publicly release a new, amazing equation (which everyone hated when we did it that way), at the end of the day it’s a beauty contest with more weight given if you’re in the SEC, not quite as much weight (but still some) if you’re in the B1G, and the rest can pound sand if they have 2+ loses…unless they’re ND. IMO of course! Easier to expand the playoff.

How about Jamarcus Sheppard? I hear…oh wait, he doesn’t have play calling experience. Not qualified. 😜

Depends on who made the NCG…there have been years I’ve skipped it. My attention is easily lost when it’s random teams or some conference rematch from the regular season in the final. When I want both teams to lose I don’t care who gets the glory. That LSU/Ole Miss will be epic no matter what, gimme that.

Fun side note, take a hard look at TAM schedule. Obviously they can’t control which conference teams flame out, but: 4 conference wins against teams that fired their coach mid-season. 2 conference wins against MSU and USC 1 great 1 point win over ND 1 good win against Missouri 3 cupcake home wins 1 loss to Texas Doesn’t exactly strike fear in the heart, and doesn’t make me want to give Texas a whole lot of credit for that win.

Zero complaints here. Walking wounded, end of November double digit victory against a solid version of our rival on the road? Yes please.

All that being said, I have a hard time imagining a top-4 that isn’t some combo of tOSU, Indiana, SEC winner, B12 winner. The committee will probably position BYU to leap us if they finish as a 1 loss P4 conference champ.

There is a path that only involves us playing 3 more games and winning a title, which is crazy if you think about it. There will absolutely be at least one SEC in the top-4 imo, I have no doubt. So for this scenario to happen it is probably more likely with Georgia staying put and smacking Alabama down. I think given where the ACC is at, it’s pretty safe to say Indiana and tOSU stay in the top-4. The real key is Texas Tech imo. If they lose, and Lane is gone to LSU, someone has to be at 4, and it would probably be us at that point. That being said, I’ll be shocked if Tech loses. They’re legit and I think BYU is solid, but not really on the same level. Nothing we can do about it at this point but embrace the chaos.
