Yep, their only hope to “take back” LA was to eliminate the competition via re-alignment. They were going to be sitting pretty when all P12 schools not called UCLA were going to be suddenly recruiting from lesser conferences. This is an in your face 2-fer. They aren’t taking back LA, and we actually now have less competition in LA than before.

Wait, do we have good weather in Oregon the second half of the season? Asking for a friend.

Pains me to say it, but we just hit a buzz saw called UW last year. UW felt like smoke and mirrors to me all year, but 10 players drafted including 5 offensive players in the first two rounds say otherwise. Given we lost by 3 points twice with our perceived shortcomings and injuries, I think the only real problem we had last year was that UW was stacked on offense and extremely motivated in the P12 title game. What I see now on our roster seems considerably better overall. I don’t think we’ll see a team with the same passing game this year, that was pretty unique and still barely took us down. If I was being picky, not sure how fantastic our LBs actually are overall as a group. Would love to have a first round destroyer in that group.

Also worth noting that two particular coaches they fired since PC are now quite successful. I’m sure that’s just a coincidence.

I love how they think LR is undeniably the best active coach at any level of football. There is a chance, just saying, that he’s not. Then again, compared to everyone they’ve had post PC I can see why they’d be confused.

I think it 💯 depends on the start. Opening with LSU first and foremost, is a potential recipe for disaster with a new QB going against a good SEC team with lots of dudes. If they get shoved around, they follow up with Utah State, @Michigan, and Wisconsin. I think if LSU does shove them around they have a recipe for a 1-3 start. Let’s just say I question their resiliency if they start with a loss. Totally agree f they’re good enough to beat LSU then all will be well.

I thought Pete C mastered the “bag game” for a hot minute before it came crashing down? I guess they can only compete in the “bag game” when it’s illegal.

They actually have 9-10 games on the schedule that wouldn’t shock me if they lost any one of them. I’m by no means saying I think they’re going 2-10, but I could easily see (maybe even predict) them losing half of those games. Tough conference schedule with a handful of under the radar, Utah style schemes designed to kill a bad D front. Throw in LSU and ND for non-con as well, and I have a hard time seeing them doing better than 8-4.

Dude revealed he does actually think 5 or 6 losses are possible even if he’s not predicting it. Looking at their schedule, I agree.

Because living in LA means better NFL development? No idea what the logic is, it’s not 1972. If that quote in anyway reflects the mindset of people actually inside the program, it would explain a lot.

I think LR has an established track record of not caring about D at two blue-blood programs now, and is entering a smash mouth league. It’s like they have to play the doppelgänger of Utah 5 times this year, and we’ve seen how that went. Make or break year I think. Could they do it? Maybe. Will they? I have my doubts.

That’s a shame.

I don’t normally get into the micro level of recruiting, but this one was…large.

Definitely way too early and doesn’t project out, no way all of those SEC teams have even a 9 win year. I have hard time imagining 8-4 Ole Miss or Missouri getting the nod over 9-3 PSU. I think the being mesmerized by records cuts both ways. I think at least two of those SEC teams will struggle, but someone like LSU will take their place. Even Texas isn’t a sure thing, major step up in competition, their schedule is insane with losable games @Michigan, OU, Georgia, Florida, @Ark, @TA&M…would not be shocked to see UT go 8-4.

He certainly lists 10 teams. No Alabama, FSU, Miami, Clemson, UNC, or USC either. Random hack from Raleigh with zero ACC teams on his list.

Hard to top Bo, but I don’t think we need to. The overall talent level and depth is up across the board. With an improved D, 30 points should be enough to beat anyone we play this year.

Such a lame excuse. USC has never lacked talent, they had 7 players drafted this year...1 less than us in our record setting year.

Use to watching the morning slot with other teams as is, so heck yes.

Right on, impossible to fully judge line play on both sides. We have a lot of dudes, a lot. Was fun to watch them in some action, and I’m certain Beavis will be even more angry than last week after reading the Oregonian article that clearly contrasts the differences in spring game atmospheres. Has Beavis become Uncle Scooge McDuck? Reality setting in goes something like; We won, we won! Looks at us! The administration has more money than they deserve! Oh wait, why do we suck?

I can only take so much away from a scrimmage. Who was Gabriel facing on D? Were they more motivated on D in the first half? Were other QBs facing 4th stringers on D that don’t know the offensive playbook as well? The depth was impressive, but I still came away thinking the pecking order remains exactly as it started, but as fans do, some back up will immediately become “the guy we should be starting”. A large percentage of fans were still calling to start what’s his face over Bo going into season 2 with Bo. I wouldn’t be surprised if we lose one of the 4 before the portal closes here. Almost certainly not keeping all of the remaining 3 by 2025.

I would also add that it seemed like the QBs were overly aware they’d be considered sacked if touched, especially in the first half…this definitely made them push.
