Big Ten x SEC Alliance and Playoff Expansion Coming Soon?
30Duck replied to Thomallister1291's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I'm for this. 12 teams is enough, only half actually have a chance at the Natty, 2 more if it makes the format work. CCG's have to go, why should the first place team after the season need to win the championship again? All the changes we've suggested make perfect sense, but will only be implemented if the $$$ is right. -
Could not agree more. The Huskies were crazy L's to WSU & Rutgers, from being 8-4 instead of 6-6, and those were with Rodgers at QB. Don't let his showing against the Ducks color your opinion, the freshman QB will be a sophomore next season. Riley at SC is much more likely to stay in their loop, than Washington is.

It was a win over Rutgers, back to back, with Northwestern. The difference between this and the losses that turned the season upside down, is that the 3 went in. I agree with Casey Jacobson, who called the game, this 2 game winning streak, does not put the Ducks back on track to contend for the B1G title. One play sticks out, Bittle was at the basket, somehow Rutgers ended up with a guard on him. Instead of feeding Bittle, Bamba passed it out to Shelstad, who took, and missed a 3. . Bailey didn't score anywhere close to his average, but I didn't see Oregon's defense playing a big part in that. I didn't really see Oregon improving, other than the 3's going in, in the area's they've been so bad in the 2nd half of the season. Are these two games the start of the Altman run? I hope so, but it will take more than hitting 3's.

The 3's are going in, neither team interested in scoring in the paint. Bittle had a chance to dunk, instead had a soft shot blocked. Ducks 38-33 at halftime.

Okay, 6-1 it is!

That's right, "analytics" says the 3 is the shot to take, so get rid of it. Touchdowns from 50 yards aren't worth more. I agree completely about "Load Management" an Ouchie and a player is in street clothes, his $40M salary, recuperating. The season is far too long, none of the players care about competing the first 50 games or so: that ridiculous mid-season tournament. The NBA All Star Game, 240-230? The Dunk contest used to be fun, actual stars competed, but now the stars aren't interested, not enough $$, and they're all afraid they wouldn't win and be embarrassed. Look at OBD, SOFT as a pillow, a 3 is their favorite shot. Of course they can't defend it, but they can't defend in the paint either.

Championship in Boston. I hope Bobby Orr is there.

No offsides. USA 3-1

Not for the better. More than the other sports, basketball has been taken over by the "entertainment" freaks. More scoring, 3 pointer, shot clock. All of these. In 1975, Oregon beat UCLA, 65-45, believe me, it was very entertaining. No shot clock, no 3 pointers, Ducks got off to a 20-0 lead, played keepaway the rest of the game. Wooden hated it. I can see the use of the shot clock, but not the 3.

Messier, Gretzky's Enforcer, a Hall of Famer in his own right.

GOAL!! USA 2-1.

I hate the 3 point shot. My greatest memories of basketball are all from before the 3. The Knicks of the early 70's, the Walton Trail Blazers, and of course in college, Ronnie Lee is the leading scorer in Oregon history, no 3 point shot. It has done great harm to the beauty of the game.

The article mentions that the ratings are still high, good attendance, made me think back to when "American Idol" first started, millions of people watched the 1st round, because the singers were awful. Ratings have never equated with quality. The new coliseum where the Clippers plays is a marvel, full of attractions for the fans, you don't need to watch the game at all.

247 Sports Prediction for Every B1G Game in 2025
30Duck replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Well, I don't think OBD will lose at Penn State, I agree that osu2 will beat Penn State and, I think osu2 will beat Michigan. This would put osu2 and OBD in the B1G CG, where yes, always want to win, but... -
