  1. I have the same feeling. Altman doesn't fit anymore, the team isn't responding. He absolutely shouldn't be fired, but next season would be better for him, and the team moving forward with a new coach. I agree that Altman would have more fun coaching a team with players who just wanted to play basketball. Power 4 basketball isn't that place anymore.
  2. As Lanning and the player's put it, "time to go to school". of course, as Just Ducky points out, there is going to be so many new players that going over the Rose Bowl won't be relevant. It was a perfect storm for osu2, everything worked for them, nothing worked for the Ducks. Losses do stay with us deeper than wins, and the Rose Bowl was a LOSS. But fortunately, it's done.
  3. I don't know a better description. The lack of cohesion, communication, bad shooting aren't soft, but lack of rebounds, giving up offensive rebounds, shooting 3's early in the shot clock. They thought it was impressive that they came from behind for wins. But then they didn't against UCLA. The slow starts continued, Illinois blew them out. The next games weren't as bad as Illinois, but Oregon consistently was out of games before halftime; and the B1G teams are good, but not great, Michigan won because they hit shots, rebounded, moved the ball. Whether offense ignites defense, or the other way around doesn't matter, the Ducks aren't playing either well enough to compete. If you're going to snag Quad1 wins, it's going to be early in a season when teams are working things out.
  4. I'll be okay with a B for Mario, though I saw a team get as far or short as Cam Ward, and "Under review" took it, we'll see what happens with a completely different QB in Beck next season. Freeman did get past the loss to N. I and gave osu2 more of a game than most thought they would. I don't know where the + for Kelly at LSU came from.
  5. I was just over at a Husky site reading their latest scribblings, and of course it was all about how Oregon is the poster child of what's wrong with college football...$$$. "If you just buy a championship, is it worth anything?" No commentary on osu2, of course. What got me though was how it was characterized over there that Oregon "cried" about how the CFP format damaged their chances at the Natty. We know that Oregon's response was "It's an opportunity." It was EVERYBODY ELSE who pointed out that No.1 Oregon was being treated worse than any other No.1 seed anywhere. You can't teach an old dog, not dawg, new tricks.
  6. Let's count the ways. What's wrong with Oregon men's basketball? Ducks on a four-game losing streak AUTZENZOO.COM The Oregon Ducks lost their fourth consecutive game when the No. 24 Michigan Wolverines stalled their comeback attempt. So...
  7. It is ridiculous, it's the can instead of will. Oregon will repeat as B1G champion would be a headline.
  8. It's really sad, the Rose Bowl for the Ducks meant more to UW fans than anything the Huskies did, granted there wasn't that much...
  9. When it comes down to it, I'll always want OBD to win every game, and back to back B1G crowns would be sweet. But, with this format, I don't think a home game to start it off, while the Champs are sitting and waiting, is all bad.
  10. Thanks, but no thanks. ESPN College Football Writer Says One Team Can Repeat as Big Ten Champs in 2025 - Athlon Sports
  11. A minor point, TP had a start that no freshman at Oregon, probably anywhere, has matched, again Oregon was knocked out before getting a Natty. Porter was the quintessential 6th man, into the starting line-up, he and the teams couldn't match '06-7.
  12. Freshman Tajuan Porter scored 38 points and set a new school record with 10 3-pointers to lead Oregon to a 116-68 win against Portland State on Sunday in the Basketball Travelers Classic tournament. Porter, who is averaging 31 points and seven 3-pointers after three games, was 12-for-14 from the field and 10-for-12 from the 3-point line before leaving the game with seven minutes to play.
  13. Well, I can't really find much to argue against your list, I still don't know what I think about Day, the credit for the Rose Bowl romp sits mainly on Chip. I still see Day as the coach who wins when his teams talent advantage is overwhelming. Whittingham has done a great job at Utah, and very likely would have some Natty's at a marquee program. Swinney has stayed away from the Portal, seems to have opened it a little bit, next season Clemson will be back. DeBoer actually did quite well with a QB exactly opposite of what he is best with, 5 for Freeman is a bit high. I think what Fisch did at UW last season was more impressive than what Cignetti did at Indiana. Cignetti didn't turn the team that went 3-9 the year before to 11-2.
  14. Chiefs 30-27 Philly creates 1 turnover Philly gets 1 sack Chiefs have 283 passing yards I want the 3-peat for the Chiefs, then I want a 4-peat, and 5...
  15. He was. He burst on the scene, 5'7 but he could score. He was named MVP of the Pac-10 tournament. The Ducks made it to the elite 8 against defending champion, Florida, that's when it ended. Porter still holds most if not all 3 pt Oregon records, but it wasn't working against the Gators. Porter went 2-10 from downtown, 2-12 overall, Florida won, 85-77.
  16. Maryland 17-5 7-4 Oregon 16-6 6-5 In their last 5 games. Maryland is 1-4, Oregon is 4-1. SIDEARM Integrations GODUCKS.COM Ducks begin three-game homestand Thursday vs. Maryland (6 p.m., FS1).
  17. Absolutely, and go baaaaack, Jim Barnett '63-'66.
  18. The AFC west already has Justin Herbert with the Chargers, Bo Nix at Denver, there's a chance that Marcus Mariota, currently doing a good job backing up Jayden Daniels at Washington, could be reunited with his former coach, now OC, Chip Kelly, at Las Vegas, who currently have the 6th pick in the coming NFL Draft. I don't know if Sanders, and Ward will still be there, Will Howard could be another connection with Chip.
  19. Rusty was on the court for my first game at Mac Court, Feb 21, 1970, UCLA came in with another of their winning streaks, this one ended at 25, when the Ducks beat them 78-65. My All Time 10 1. Ronnie Lee 2 Greg Ballard 3. Luke Jackson 4. Luke Ridnour 5. Payton Pritchard 6. Stan Love 7. Terrell Brandon 8. Blair Rassmussen 9. Dillon Brooks 10. Aaron Brooks Honorable Mention: Billy Gaskins, Mark Barwig, Gerald Willett
  20. Last 3 minutes, Ducks went 0-6, when down by 2, Shelstad throws the ball to Altman instead of Bittle, later Bamba misses the front end of a 1 & 1.
  21. In their least pathetic half of basketball in a long OBD are only down 41-36 to Michigan at halftime. The Ducks are firing up 3's, to nobody's surprise, and actually hitting 50%. Unfortunately, the game turned on a 11-0 run by Michigan, aided by back to back 3's for the home team. The difference in the game is what has been really bad for OBD lately, Michigan is doing anything it wants in the paint.
  22. He's the Duck that wore 30. Of all the problems we're seeing with the 2024/25 team, toughness, leadership are what's missing. That was not the case with the Kamikaze Kids. He started on a team that went 6-20, that didn't happen again. I wish that everybody here could have experienced a game at Mac Court, "The Pit". You think Autzen gets loud? A library compared to "The Pit". You've heard of the scoreboard shaking overhead, the baskets moving, you would almost get seasick. Opposing coaches hated playing there. not just because of the noise. Up until Harter arrived, taking a charge, diving for a loose ball, making players pay for getting too close to the rim didn't happen, UCLA was the pace setter, and their style was finesse. Wooden hated Mac Court, but Bill Walton loved it.
  23. Originally, Mel Renfro was going to be a Beaver! At the last minute he changed his mind and did go on to have one of the best careers, on both sides in football and track and field, in Oregon history. Believe me, there would have been NOISE if I had been there, very surprised, SHOCKED, at the lack of recognition, respect coming from the Autzen crowd for Ronnie Lee, throw in unimaginable! "The greatest basketball player in school history!"
