Now that order has been restored it's time an assessment of Oregon's new environment: No.1 Oregon: 6-0 (3-0) There really isn't any question about this, unless you're Colin Cowherd or Joel Klatt. No.2 Ohio State: 5-1 (2-1) See above. No.3 Indiana: 6-0 (3-0) Last year Indiana finished 3-9. This year they're undefeated, new players, new coach, the only coach who could challenge Lanning for COY. The toughest game for the Hoosiers is this Saturday against Nebraska. No.4 Penn State: 6-0 (3-0) Eye test just hasn't done it for ne with Penn State and last week they did struggle with USC. No.5 Illinois: 5-1 (2-1) Their biggest win is over Nebraska, lost to Penn State, and just squeaked by Purdue. No.6 Nebraska 5-1 (2-1) Their sole loss is to Illinois. No,7 Iowa 4-2 (2-1) The highlight of the season is the drubbing of Washington. No.8 Michigan 4-2 (2-1) They can't pass, but somehow are 4-2. No.9 Wisconsin 4-2 (2-1) The losses are to USC and Alabama, and somehow don't have a prolific RB this season. No.10 Minnesota 4-3 (2-1) The Golden Gophers have a 27-0 win over Nevada, who just beat Oregon State. 18. UCLA 17. Purdue 16. Maryland 15. Northwestern 14, Michigan State 13, USC 12. Washington 11. Rutgers

It's Must-Win For USC For the Rest of the Season
30Duck replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Not gonna do it. The Schedule says they should. But they shouldn't be 3-3 now. I just don't see them galvanizing into a machine that reels off 5 wins in a row. They lucked out, missing Ohio State and Oregon. But Maryland, Rutgers @ Washington, Nebraska. I see two L's leading into the game against UCLA. -
No pity. OSU has been upgraded to a level where we can really hate them. A rivalry is actually possible. There really is a Buckeyes Nation, but they don't refer to it like that.

Mediocrity isn’t the standard at USC. Period! — Matt Leinart (@MattLeinartQB) October 12, 2024 Beg to differ, Matt. To salvage its season, USC must win its next five games WWW.YARDBARKER.COM USC must run the table in their next five games and head into its Nov. 30 season finale against Notre Dame with an 8-3 record.

This Intentional Penalty is Next Level Coaching

The 4th reason is because it was Oregon who did it. -

Maybe someone will correct me, but Chip usually went for 2 when the Ducks were up 28 in the 2nd quarter. -

It's also extremely annoying when I see. hear, that there was still a second left when Hall went down. The clock was still running, like it does on every play. Over at "Eleven Warriors" they're still going on about the "second" & there's this: Upon review that was a very bad call against Jeremiah Smith with 26 seconds left. The problem being the ball was NOT in the air at that instant so there can't be pass interference - home cooking. Just stop the video at 26 seconds - the ball clearly was still in Howard's hands SMDH -
That is the argument used in basketball circles to keep Wilt Chamberlain out of te GOAT discussion. Jeanty is on pace to shatter Barry Sander's season rushing record, a magnificent achievement. But I think there is a reason quarterbacks have dominated the Heisman. A quarterback has to do more than a running back does in a game. Gabriel's game against Ohio State called on him to produce everything, at the highest level, and he will need to match that every game for the rest of the season, and if he does, he'll deserve the Heisman.

How Does it Feel? EVERYBODY Hates Us!
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Agreed about OSU fans maybe hating Day more than Oregon, but either way it's a win. Cowherd & Klatt weren't impressed at all, to them Ohio State absolutely lost that game, Oregon didn't win. But they can't help it. Before, the Old Guard didn't like Oregon because of the uniforms, the Blur, the FINESSE. But against Ohio State Oregon won in the trenches, without their best DL, outrushed Ohio State, overcame mistakes & penalties. They really hate Oregon now. Oregon dominated the Pac-12 at the end, the B1G is next. -

USC and Washington can't help it, Oregon is to blame for everything, and other school's will soon be believers to. -
Yardbarker's 22 Key Games That Decide the Playoffs
30Duck replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Three of them this Saturday: Miami @ Louisville. the game isn't over until the review has been settled. Alabama @ Tennessee. Tennessee is better than SC who should've beaten Alabama, so Tennessee obviously beats 'Bama, and finally, Georgia @ Texas. Let's go Dawgs, Kirby takes down Sark! -
We Hired Lincoln Riley, You HIred Dan Who?
30Duck replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
That's it. Clay Helton didn't get hired because he stood out in the crowd of high level candidates. He got it because he was raising his arm and jumping in the empty room and the teacher called on him. As this season goes on, Colin Cowherd & Joel Klatt will think it's a great job. But other than the head coach at the College of the Redwoods, what coach is going to see the USC coach as a step up? -
Oregon Football: The Deep Ball Is Back!
30Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Football is crazy, In a game where Lanning displayed coaching genius with the high velocity onside kick and the timeout-12 men tandem, he still could have blown it going for 2. Fortunately, it didn't end that way, and I don't want Lanning to be a coach whose game plan is dictated by analytics. Just Do It, Lanning. -
We saw Jeanty earlier in the season and I'm fine if we don't see him again. Gabriel has led the Ducks to No.2, with a win over Ohio State. Jeanty is on pace for a record breaking season, and when the regular is done, Boise State's only L will probably be to the Ducks. That's important. If the Ducks want to get to the Playoffs and win the Natty. Gabriel's game against Ohio State will have to be the norm. No slip ups the rest of the way. It's going to take Heisman level play from Gabriel. Hey, this is another opportunity to jump on Lincoln Riley. A while back after a USC loss, I can't remember which one. In the post-game presser, a player was asked a question and was about to respond when Riley grabbed mike and told the reporter(s) to ask him the questions, not the players, And never forget Oklahoma State coach. Mike, "I'm A Man" Gundy.

Riled Up? Getting my Buckeye Retorts Ready....
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Another slice of fun about this game is that after a loss like that the team wants nothing else but to get back on the field. But, "Not so fast Ohio State!" You have a Bye, so for another two weeks they'll just have to keep thinking about the Oregon game. -
Disappointed in National Coverage of Oregon vs. Ohio State
30Duck replied to a topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If nothing else, and actually there's a lot of else, this topic has been cathartic. No need to go through the stages of denial, Oregon is the new Big in the B1G, and it's going to take not only time, but a complete overhaul for Oregon's presence to be accepted, much less, appreciated. It was one thing when Oregon was tucked away in the Pac-12. They were just the shiny object, once in a while grabbed some attention, but for the most part weren't relevant. Cowherd and the other commentators know how to talk about the bluebloods, changing the script takes work. I don't think the Refs were conspiring. but like everybody else they know Ohio State. For a long time we've all heard that Ref's are human. They don't want to hear boo's. Maybe Cowherd was right. If the game had been played on a neutral field or in Columbus, the call on Smith isn't made and OSU wins. -
Alabama defensive back Malachi Moore apologized for his behavior toward the end of the Crimson Tide's 40-35 upset at the hands of Vanderbilt. "I was completely out of line," he said in a statement posted to social media. "I let the emotions of the game get the best of me and put myself before the team. As a two-time captain and a fifth-year player, I understand the standard that we are expected to live up to at Alabama, and I failed to do so by acting in a selfish and unacceptable manner."

Disappointed in National Coverage of Oregon vs. Ohio State
30Duck replied to a topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This is perfect in a completely awful way, like if somehow catsup was spilled in your coffee, Klatt will be on Cowherd's show on Wednesday. Today Cowherd's sole take on the game was, "if it had been played on a neutral field, or in Columbus, Ohio State wins." -

30Duck replied to a topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It feels like piling on Cowherd is redundant. But so what! He definitely bleeds blue. At least he's up front with it It's killing him that USC is still pathetic. I remember watching him on Portland TV in the 80's. He was okay then. But now? He can only see Oregon beating Ohio State as bad. So what if Alabama has had its last two games, they should still be in the Playoffs. Thank goodness Miami is back. Klatt is disappointing. If he doesn't have an agenda, how can he be disappointed in the OPI on Smith? -
Isn't that what this whole forum has been saying since Saturday? Are we any better? No, we're no The difference I see here is like when penalties offset. even when one is a much bigger violation. Same, but not equal.

Jeremiah Smith Interferes at Oregon? Never!
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
However, we characterize the overall officiating, that call was HUGE. End of the game, Smith's star move. It was like calling an offensive foul on Michael Jordan in the final seconds.
