Tosh Lupoi--Ducks Defense Will be 'Confrontational'
30Duck replied to Mudslide's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I really like the idea of a defense being "Confrontational". That is exactly what I want a defense to be, Don't just react to what the offense is doing, but force it into submission. -
Richard Young is rated as the No.2 Running Back in the 2023 Class. He's a "one cut and go type of running back that's strong enough to get it done between the tackles." Richard Young, Florida 5-star running back, visiting Oregon Ducks this weekend - Scorebook Live NEWS.SCOREBOOKLIVE.COM The state of Florida is historically loaded with talent at the running back position in the class of 2023, boasting five of the nation's...

Six Minutes with Coach Dillingham--Developing A Culture!

It's great that all the coaches seem to be on the same page, amazing how this is the case as the staff was assembled as quickly as it was. -

Fun Matters More than Ever for Oregon Football
30Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Fun is definitely important, David. Alabama looks like it's having fun, and I think that is part of why Alabama keeps winning the championships. Every season it starts again for them, keeping it going, don't lose to unranked teams, don't play down to the level of the opponent. All of that would be a drag, for the players and coaches if they weren't having fun. Saban will retire when it stops being fun. Lanning sure seems to understand that getting the message across to the players is a lot easier if they're having fun. -

I didn't have Montana in Favre's "Gunslinger" club. Congrats, Joe. -
Spring Game Review from Georgia 24/7 Reporter
30Duck replied to Steven A's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The Classic "Favre Syndrome" There is no excuse for it really. Logic says if a receiver is in double or triple coverage, the other receivers are wide open. Favre was exciting and threw a lot of TD passes. But think how many more he'd have had if he'd thrown to one of the wide open guys more often? -
Dawgs Fan From Georgia: What I Hope to Learn and Share
30Duck replied to McDawg's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Welcome, McDawg, we enjoy it when fans of other teams show up and want to share their thoughts and opinions on the game between their team and the Ducks...when they do so in the manner that you and the other Georgia fans have done. -
That was the most enjoyable Spring Game I can remember watching. Part of that is due to the anticipation of the season. But more than that there was an atmosphere around the game that was just fun. The players looked like they were enjoying playing the game. That the players were enjoying themselves is big. We know that Lanning and the coaches mean business, this is not a program that is about "fun". This is a team that is going to be disciplined and focused. That the team can do that and enjoy it bodes well for the season.

Diamond Ducks Blow 6-Run Lead, Lose Game 3 in 10 Innings 8-7
30Duck replied to ICamel's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
An epic come from behind win in the first game kept the Ducks from being swept at home by the frivolous felines from the Palouse. The pitchers are bailing water with sieves. -
I'm not calling for a Heisman campaign for DJ, but as Lanning says, "he, "could be one of the best players in the conference" And maybe not just in the conference. Oregon Football: DJ Johnson impresses coaches at spring game DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM 7 tackles, 5 TFL, and 4 sacks. DJ Johnson showed out and turned a number of heads at the Oregon spring game.

Thanks for the WHIP clarification, Axel. It has been only recently that baseballers looked beyond ERA, Batting average to see what was actually happening, and of course it never should be RBI's! -

Opening Line for Ducks Opener: Georgia -15
30Duck replied to Log Haulin's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
No argument with this. But, on some of the other thoughts, I'll politely disagree. Dixon didn't look ordinary in 2007 and Marcus never looked ordinary while he was at Oregon. As far as NFL careers? They have nothing to do with how a player performed in college. Even with the stats much lower back in the 70's, Dan Fouts wasn't projected as a sure fire NFL star. let alone a hall of Fame Quarterback. I'll also disagree about Chip's offense not averaging 50 PPG. As I've often told my Husky cousins, Oregon could have laid 70 on UW multiple times during the 12-0 streak if they wanted to. In those games, like so many others, Oregon routinely had 35-42 at halftime. It wasn't the offensive scheme that kept those teams from averaging 50 points per game. -
Got to win today and take the series.

Quibbling About the Spring Game Attendance?
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Spring Games don't do it for the Trojans fans, I doubt that Carroll's teams drew big numbers, this fan base is about W's, not the process to get them. When you're already in the Natty, who's gonna care about a practice game in April? -
Critical Analysis: Oregon Spring Game Hits and Misses
30Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
A hit we didn't see but that I know is coming is Kyler Kasper and his 6'5, 200 lbs getting added to the passing game. Cota was very impressive, now imagine a defense covering Cota and Kasper on 3rd down? And this isn't to say that Cota and Kasper are only to be used like Stanford did in their Giraffe offense, Cota and Kasper, along with the rest of the receivers are all every down receivers, Oregon has a corps of Maehl's and Carrington's.
