Coach Lanning: “Oregon’s a Premier Brand"
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Hope so. We gotta start getting some of that Academic Prowess. -
UAB 31 BYU 28
-
That was a great game between 2 teams and fan bases that we really wanted to be in the Boca Raton Bowl. Pac-12 killer BYU is currently losing to 8-4 UAB in the Independence Bowl.

The thought seems to be, the season's over, Mario's moved on. We don't need to his QB, Anthony Brown play anymore. What if Thompson, Butterfield, do play in the Alamo Bowl and are injured? The time for them getting some valuable game experience was during the season; there was a great opportunity with the Bye week., not now, when at best the team is scattered. I'd rather either starting against Georgia with whatever experience he can get from Lanning and Dillingham, etc., than rehabbing this off season.

Before the season started this looked like a game between teams battling for a high seed. Baylor looks like the defending champion; Oregon is coming off their big win over the U of Portland Pilots. Currently, the line is Baylor -8. Do the guys in Vegas have this right?

I think that was definitely why he made his landing in Arizona.

Recruiting War: Lanning vs. Cristobal
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I'd take Oregon in a game between Lanning's "O" and Cristobal's "U" at the end of next season. -
His move to Miami has been fascinating to watch. The enthusiasm that The U has in Mario coming back and restoring the glory days completely ignores what he has delivered as a coach. Jimmy Johnson, who did coach championships at The U urged the fans to slow down, but I doubt he was heard over the Hurricane wind

Lanning was great in that interview, loved the "O" at the end! -
Recruiting War: Lanning vs. Cristobal
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
There is a hope that wherever our Recruiting rankings land with DL compared to MC, the player development will increase. It just about has to, doesn't it? The Portal will need to be Oregon's friend, and by the time DL has his coaching staff assembled, Oregon should be an attractive destination for players. -

Which are the Most Important Games for Oregon in 2022?
30Duck replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
As Just Ducky and Happy To Be A Duck, just pointed out, Oregon has shown that every game is important. Just last season, at Ohio State was important, but no more than was at Stanford. A lingering scent of Cristobal's legacy is that those two games came after the inexcusable flat performance at ASU.in 2019. -
ONLY IN MY DREAMS - IF THE NCAA RAN THE CFB PLAYOFF
30Duck replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The SEC does think that and would be fine if the CFP consisted of 4 SEC teams. But, while they believe the SEC is the end all of college football, it would be the end of college football unless something is figured out to subvert the SEC's monopoly. -
ONLY IN MY DREAMS - IF THE NCAA RAN THE CFB PLAYOFF
30Duck replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It would indeed, and schools and their fans would be excited across the country. But the SEC and ESPN are fine with the bonanza for them that the current CFP is. Forget that SEC honk Paul Finebaum sees expanding the Playoffs as necessary to keep interest in college football, SEC Commish Sankey, and the SEC schools are only interested in a system that keeps their coffers full, even at the existence of the sport. -

The Huskies are Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods, and this is their big hit, and the worst song I've ever heard. -
The Changing Face of Loyalty in CFB Coaching

No doubt. The hype train is big around SC now that Riley has pulled in. But if the Show isn't smokin' the Coliseum will just be a big, empty space for Traveler to prance around in, Stanford remodeled a few years back, reducing seats. But it's still a big empty. OSU and WSU have a lot of spirit, but are garage bands, Washington? -
Okay, what are the songs that just make you feel like a kid again. or at least bring a grin to your face when you hear it. Here are four of my favorites Brenda Lee "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" The Carpenters, "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" Bing Crosby, "Do You Hear What I Hear?" and of course "Singing Cats!!!

It is ironic that Coach McClendon wants to make the Alamo Bowl a great "experience" for the players, but apparently is passing on the opportunity for Thompson and the other young QB's to get some in the game?

The Changing Face of Loyalty in CFB Coaching
30Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Oregon fired a winning coach because it appeared that coach wasn’t going to bring a National Championship to Eugene. Oregon wasn’t loyal to Helfrich He went from 9-4 in 2015 to 4-8 in 2016, I didn't see not winning the Natty as the reason for Helfrich being fired. Could Oregon have been "loyal" to Helf and given him another year? I suppose so, but unfettered loyalty van be problematic as well.
