  1. Not the first time we have had this issue where Stewart is running open but Gabriel gets tunnel visioned on Tez or Holden. We're all waiting for Stewart to get his big break out game. But for that to happen he needs to get the ball thrown his way more.
  2. And if Oregon can beat Michigan State by a similar margin or greater.. then we'll know we're in business.
  3. I do think some of the angst is really stemming from looking at teams like Ohio State and Georgia and Bama and seeing how they are dispatching opponents without too much difficulty and then looking at our Ducks struggle when they should be the same caliber of team is hard to swallow. Those are also teams with National Championship aspirations and they are taking care of business whereas it feels like the Ducks have struggled to get this far. With that said... I think we have a good test in Michigan State this Friday. No, they are not a world beating Michigan State team but they are a conference opponent and not sitting at the bottom of the conference like UCLA. This is a great game for Oregon to put together four quarters of play and then turn around and take on the challenge of Ohio State. Ohio State has looked fine and they have taken care of business so far but they don't feel super dominant in doing so even though the score board shows they are dominant.
  4. I said the same thing to myself that the interception was actually worse than just taking over on downs. However there is something that the interception brought that less tangible than field position by far more important. A major moral boost. The third quarter sucked for the Ducks. And the interception was a nice sign of the Ducks defense standing up and taking the ball away. Yes, taking over on downs is the same result as an interception (plus a few yards) but this had some extra juice in it. So I can live with it even though just knocking the ball down would have been better in terms of a ball position on the field.
  5. And according to my power rankings... They'd still be close to the bottom.
  6. Loved that play design. Sucked everything in the went right over the top.
  7. It's a grass field and there were a lot of grass stains on those white jerseys. I had a friend years ago when I was at UO who made an observation that the Ducks did more poorly in games where they played on grass instead of turf. I don't think it holds as true today as it did back then. But playing in grass is very different.
  8. I think it was less about how they are teaching it and now that those players are pissed they are getting thumped so bad week after week. That coaching staff needs to instruct better emotional responses to things. There some late hits out of bounds too I thought should have been flagged. They were lucky with as few of flags as they got on the whole.
  9. Updated based on this weekend. 12. UCLA - beat by Oregon 11. Stanford - showed some spirit but lost to Clemson. 10. Utah - no Rising... That's a problem. 9. Washington - they lost to Rutgers 8. Washington State - demolished by BSU 7. Arizona - beat Utah 6. ASU 5. Cal - their loss to FSU looked even worse after FSU losing big this weekend. 4. Oregon State - bye week so no damage done. 3. Colorado - won convincingly but the only power 2 team they've played destroyed them. 2. USC - managed to not lose to Wisconsin. 1. Oregon - looking better. How about a tier list. Tier 1: Oregon Tier 2: USC Tier 3: Colorado, Oregon State, Cal and Arizona State Tier 4: Arizona, Washington, WSU, Standford and UCLA There is a BIG drop off between tier 2 and 3. The old pac-12 isn't looking that strong this year to put it bluntly. As for the scrap-12 members... They're middling at best and that's all they are and all they'll ever really be outside of an up year here or there that puts them into tier 2 range but they'll never be tier 1.
  10. 6 is fine. This team is still coming together but isn't there yet. I feel we are lacking our killer instinct at the moment. It's getting there but just isn't there yet. We left at least 7 points in the field last night. It was a solid win but it felt like there was more this team had to give but didn't.
  11. I think it should have been called and reviewed. If it was not there in the review then fine. I'm more concerned about the on going theater of safety than the sport taking actual action in safety.
  12. First off... More of these. I want to see a line up of giants in the end zone. Put T-Ferg (I know injured here but for the future), Herbert, Sadiq, and Kasper in the line up. Throw the ball into fade routes and get some touchdowns! I feel that this particular play we saw was purely to draw a PI. The ball was in truth a little lower than it would ideally be placed. The timing was alright but it didn't feel like Easter was entirely set in the route. But if it was designed to draw the PI it absolutely worked.
  13. SDSU was seen as a good target by the Pac-12 before the break up because they are in a good market and they do take sports fairly seriously. They do have potential to be a power conference team and market if given time and resources. Fresno has been good but isn't this year. They'll probably be fine in the future but they don't have the growth potential of SDSU... Oddly enough I think SDSU might eventually outgrow G6 status.
  14. Two things I'd like to note about this event. 1. I think Gabriel has really bonded with his team now. He needed to be held back by Tez. He was livid with that play. Later on when Holdrn was horse collared he was again livid with the Bruin's dirty play. Also quick note ... Even though Addison was on last year's team he left before Gabriel joined. So for Addison this game was taking it to his former team but Gabriel doesn't have any past history with Addison as he was gone before Gabriel was in Eugene. 2. Targeting penalties are often not about player safety but the show of player safety. I wrote this article a few years ago and I still feel that the sport isn't actually addressing player safety when it comes to targeting. It's all for show... If they were serious about player safety there would be a lot more measures in place when we see hits like that. The Targeting Rule is Not About Player Safety | FishDuck FISHDUCK.COM The NCAA recently announced changes to the targeting rule. These changes are not yet in effect, but there will be a vote in April to adopt these proposals.
  15. Targeting can be called from the booth as a replay foul. So it doesn't need to be called on the field during the course of play. So the refs and the booth refs failed big time on this one.
  16. He handed the ball off for one play and then took a knee. If we see him again I'd say there might be something brewing behind the closed doors of practice. But for now I think it could be something as simple as rewarding him for his hard work. If he threw some passes I think we'd have more of a talking point but he just closed out the game. Other quick thought... When closing out the game it could also be protecting Moore. UCLA was playing pretty rough and dirty. I think they wanted to avoid a Vernon Adams like incident where Adam's former team aggressively went after him in that game. Might be the same here. Don't give Moore's previous team a shot at taking a shot at him.
  17. I just looked at UCLA's schedule. They'll be lucky to win one or two more games this season. This is going to be a long and awful season for Bruin fans. Happy to play our part.
  18. Shouldn't OSU and WSU see who they lost to and invite those teams? But if they do that they might not be kings of the rejects????
  19. Didn't feel like a complete game. Defense was fantastic. Holding an opponent to 6 points is great. That is much fewer than UCLA's precious opponents. The offensive restarted hot and cooked with half time adjustments and I think the pick 6 bothered Gabriel more than it should have. Also ... James was running the ball for about 5 yards a carry and we're not feeding him enough. Solid win but as Charles said... We're not there yet.
  20. And we played SOOO bad that game.. Like we were actively working to lose that game.
  21. UCLA changed up their defense a bit. They are playing a safety or two deep which is messing with some of the game plan I'm sure. But the run game.is getting good chunks so run the ball!
  22. Are our kickers caused??? Missing PATs is not great and that's the second one this year.
  23. More rushing plays!!! James is getting good chunks. Let him run and set up the offense.
  24. Also... We could use some more rushing plays. Feels like we are forcing the pass game at times tonight.
